RARE Mego 1977 BATMAN'S WAYNE FOUNDATION PLAY SET

Here's a Holy Grail to both Vintage Batman & 1970's Mego Collectors. It's called the BATMAN'S WAYNE FOUNDATION. Basically it's a playset of the building owned by Bruce Wayne that was made by Mego in 1977 for the 8" action figures/dolls. The front looks like a commercial building & the other side shows the "Batcave" that is hidden inside. Both the original box & actual toy are HUGE!! When built the building is over 40 inches tall. I have always wanted one of these because I thought it would be a great item to display loose Mego Dolls of Batman, Robin, Batgirl, Joker, Catwoman, Penguin, Riddler, & Bruce Wayne. This baby is so SUPER-RARE it's what we toy people call a "Museum Piece"!
Be sure to check the BAT-BLOG ARCHIVES for many more Vintage Batman Toys including Mego, Corgi, Ideal, Kenner, Marx, Irwin, etc...

Vintage 1966 Batmobile Coin-OP Ride!! Operated Vending Machine

Here's a beautiful photo sent in to us by Gary, a loyal BAT-BLOG Reader, who owns this Vintage 1966 BATMOBILE CAR Coin-Operated Vending Machine Ride!! He told us, "My grandfather owned a vending company from the 1960's to the late 1990's. One day I was at his work shop & he told me he had a surprise for me. He told me to bring my truck around back & when I got there he pulled a sheet off this baby & told me it was mine!! He knew I used to love this thing as a kid but the fact that it was a gift from him is what makes it so very special. He died a few months later & everytime I look at it I think of him. He was very special, kind, & a warm loving person. It's kinda sad but I have to keep this thing in my garage for now ( it's HUGE ). There's not enough room to display it in our current house but when we move it will have a very special place & will be displayed with both pride & love". Wow Gary! That's a wonderful story & a nice photo, thanks for sharing. Sorry to hear about your granddad but he sounds like he was a really great guy. I wish I could have had the honor of meeting him. You're really lucky to have such a great Batman piece like that, I'm jealous!! If anyone else has a great story or nice picture like this please share it with us. The BAT-BLOG isn't all about Vintage Batman Toys but it's also about a large "family" of Batman Fans. Thanx!

POP CULTURE Inspired Artwork Paintings BATGIRL ROBIN & GREEN HORNET!

Last week I was surfing thru the internet enjoying some cool webpages about art galleries & stuff. When all of a sudden I came across this one artist's page who does POP ART style paintings that are totally inspired from 1960's Pop Culture. The artist's name is Tommy Kane ( I don't think he's related to Bob Kane, ha ha ) & if you like his work then do a Google Search, beautiful stuff!! All of them were really great but I had to share these three with my readers because they are sort of Batman-Related. Well, one of them is the Green Hornet but that TV Show was on at the same time as Batman, so there! Be sure to check the BAT-BLOG ARCHIVES for many more Batman-inspired ART!

GERMAN BATMAN Original Vintage 1966 Movie Poster

Here's a great set of photos ( click the small one up above for a larger, more detailed, picture ) recently sent into the Bat-Blog from a Vintage Movie Poster Collector in the UK named Rick. He said, "I just got this wonderful 1966 BATMAN Movie Poster at a Boot-Sale last weekend & wanted to share it with your readers. It's a very RARE poster made for the release of the movie in Germany. It's all in German! The best thing about it is the unusual graphics plus I stole it for 20 pounds! For now I'm displaying it in a plexiglass frame, to protect it, but plan to have it professionally framed later." WOW Rick!! That poster is a beautiful piece of ART, you should be very proud! Also, ya got it for 20 pounds?? I'm jealous! ( 20 British Pounds is about $40.00 American, plus a "Boot-Sale" is a flea market ). Be sure to check the BAT-BLOG ARCHIVES for many more Vintage Posters & Toys.

They are DC Comic Book character action figures & accessories that look super-cute: like Batman, Aquaman, Superman, Flash, etc are little kids. I think the Baby-Batmobile is the most adorable thing ever, yes I do...who's the cutest little car, you are! Yes, you are! Goo Goo.

Groovy Sixties Mod Fashion Model Photography 1960's

Fans of both Pop Art & Vintage Clothing are gonna freak out over these groovy photos! The 2 large photos up above that look like "comic book pages", with fashion models dressed in mod clothing, were photographed by the famous Fashion Photographer Ronald Traeger in the 1960's. I'm not sure which fashion magazine it was published in but it's pretty cool! ( I got these pics from a blog about vintage mod clothes but forgot to save the URL so if you know please let me know so I can give credit ). The third smaller picture of the mod girl with the Batman mask was from another article in another magazine & was sent in by a loyal BAT-BLOG Reader, Thanx Molly! THE DARK KNIGHT Batman Movie News AARON ECKHART To Play Harvey Dent

I just read in the BAT-BLOG Message Boards that Variety Magazine named Aaron Eckhart as the actor Warner Bros picked to play Harvey Dent in the New Batman movie THE DARK KNIGHT! He was the lead character in a recent film called "Thank You For Smoking", about how evil the real-life tobacco industry is, ha ha. He looks like a good choice & I think the next bat-Film is gonna be awesome!!

CARRIE KELLEY DESKTOP WALLPAPER Frank Miller's Batman

Now I know it's not Wednesday ( The BAT-BLOG posts 2 cool Batman Wallpapers every Wed ) but I couldn't wait to post this wonderful Batman Desktop Wallpaper I created! The art is by the famous comic book artist Frank Miller & it shows Carrie Kelley, with Batman, flying thru the air! When he added Robin to his version of Batman he made the character an adolescent girl! She was a really great character too with alot of personality, I loved her. This is a scene from the classic Batman graphic Novel THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS. If you have never read this book then shame on you, ha ha! It's one of the VERY BEST Batman stories....ever!

Vintage 1960's Batman Toys & Collectibles, it's 1966 Again!

The main purpose of the BAT-BLOG is sharing the love of collecting cool New & Vintage Batman Toys...period. I know we also share alot of desktop wallpapers, videos, humor pictures, comic book art, etc...but the main thing here is the great vintage toys that were made in the past! The photos up above are some really great examples of those awesome 1960's Batman Toys from the 1966 TV Series. That show spawned alot of great products & memorabilia from that era is some of my personal favorites! The 1st pic is a Rare BATMAN FAN CLUB Promo Pinback Button advertising "Ron Riley's Batman Club WLS/WBKB-TV". WLS was a very popular radio station in Chicago. Ron Riley was a radio DJ at the time Batman came out & they promoted the show with a Batman Fan Club. The 2nd picture features the 1966 BAT-BOMB Toy made by Mattel™. It probably came about because of the 1966 Batman Movie. Remember the scene where Adam West ran around trying to get rid of a bomb spouting the now-classic line, "Somedays you just can't get rid of a bomb". I'm sure the toy was meant to be a "weapon for Batman" to use but I bet that's where they got the idea, ha ha! This toy is extremely RARE in the original packaging but is also even hard-to-find "loose"...a great photo sent in by a loyal BAT-BLOG Reader, thanks Robert. The 3rd photo is a RARE Set of Girl's House Shoe Slippers with beautiful retro graphics of Batgirl. I bet the kids who wore these didn't just wear them at bedtime. They probably would have "lived in them", ha ha!

Remember, You can always click the small photos for slightly larger ones. Also, be sure to visit the BAT-BLOG ARCHIVES for many more wonderful Vintage Toys made by Mego, Corgi, Ideal, Kenner, Marx, etc..
