Robby Reed's DIAL B FOR BLOG is Back!

Yes, you read that right, DIAL B FOR BLOG is Back! Now a lot of people are gonna be real excited about this news. Back in the day, DIAL B FOR BLOG was a really fun website. It covered silver age comic book history like no other. It had style, substance, & was very well designed. But then one day the owner/creator decided to quit. It was discovered that he had a set goal to reach a certain number of posts & then quit. So, after hitting that number, he did. The site was left up for people to enjoy but it was never updated for a really long time. Well I got an email from him & he said he's bringing it back. No way! I didn't believe him. That is, until I went to go check it out for myself and yes, DIAL B FOR BLOG is Back! Do you too also think it's too good to be true? Well, Just CLICK HERE!

BATMAN EXTREME!! A New Batman Toy Collector Blog!

This post is a shout-out to a Friend of ours who has been doing an excellent job on a new Batman Toy Collector Blog called "Batman Extreme"! Now, he's a Major Batman Fan and he shares a bunch of cool stuff! At the end of this post I'll share a LINK to it but I gotta warn ya, his site is mostly done in Japanese! But wait, there is plenty of eye-candy to enjoy plus, he does some posts in English. Also, it's really not that hard to figure out how to navigate the site.

One tip, at the bottom of all his posts there is a "Pagination Area" where you click the numbers "2, 3, 4, etc..." Just click those and you can enjoy the whole site. There is some neat stuff like Tin Toys ( Robots and Batmobile cars ). Plus, a lot of new merchandise. It looks like he might focus on "THE DARK KNIGHT RISES" Movie Action Figures a little bit too. It's fun, just click HERE!

Jon's RANDOM ACTS OF GEEKERY Website Interviews The BAT-BLOG!

People who have been reading the Bat-Blog for awhile might enjoy this, I hope, ha! But I was recently interviewed by a fellow Blogger & Batman Fan, named Jon, who writes the awesome RANDOM ACTS OF GEEKERY website. At his site he wrote some profiles of "Comic Book Related" Bloggers called "The Way of The Geek". I was # 6 in the series. Wow! It was really an honor to be included in this group of Writers. I know some of them, so that's kinda cool. Basically, Jon sent me a ton of questions to answer & I answered them. Then, he edited the content. I really didn't know how it was going to come out but now, after seeing the finished product, Jon did a great job with it. So, if you would like to know a little bit more about the guy who writes this crazy Bat-Blog then please be sure to just click HERE! Oh yeah, while you're there please be sure to also check out Jon's website. I know you'll like his blog, it's really good & there's a ton of neat stuff there! I also wanna thank Jon for this opportunity, it was a lot of fun!

Kanike's HEATH LEDGER JOKER ART Pen & Ink Drawing

This drawing was sent in by a loyal Bat-Blog Reader named Kanike. She is totally obsessed with the Joker character! She loves all the different versions of the Joker from the comic books, animated cartoons, video games, movies, etc...In fact she has even started a blog about it called RANCID RAINBOW. Anyways, here's a drawing she recently did of the Joker from the Dark Knight Batman movie. Of course it's the Heath Ledger version & it looks just like him. Now, overall the picture is really excellent but the neat clever thing is that the lines are mostly made-up of small words. From far away it looks like a graphic but if you look at it very close-up you'll see that they're words like "Ha Ha Ha!". For example, look at Joker's eyes...they're made with the words "Anarchy & Chaos", very cool! Now, I did mention her blog, which is all about the Prince of Crime. Here's a link to check it out, just click HERE!

THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD: THE LOST ISSUES

There's a brand-new Batman blog I discovered recently that I have to share because it's really funny & very clever . In fact I wish I would have thought of it, ha ha! It's called THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD: THE LOST ISSUES. Basically it's a parody humor site with vintage issues of the original "Brave & The Bold" Comic Books that have been mashed-up with other comics to produce books that were never made. But, they're all ones we wish they did! Like, he did one with Batman & "Batman Beyond" that is awesome! There's even one where the Caped Crusader teams-up with Captain James T. Kirk of Star Trek ( hilarious! ). In most of artwork for the fake covers the Photoshop technique is extremely well done. I mean, they look totally real! I think that's a large part of making them so funny. They just seem so believable. You'll find yourself thinking, "Hey, how did I miss that when it came out?". Here's a link if you want to check it out sometime, just click HERE!

Personal News: BAT-BLOG.COM Gets a Nice Plug!

Over at the POP CULTURE SHOCK website the Bat-Blog gets a nice mention in the NO CURE FOR COMICS section. Our friend Matt did a story about the "Comic Blog Elite" site & mentions that the Bat-Blog is Number 2 on their list of worthy blogs. Actually, we were Number 1 for almost a year but that's cool ( I'm not bitter, ha ha! ) I mean, if you're in 2nd place, it makes you work harder, right? Anyways, thanks to Matt for the shout out! The Bat-Blog Reccommends BULLY SAYS, a Cool Comic Book Fan Site.

BULLY SAYS: COMICS OUGHTA BE FUN! is a really nice blog that's ALL about the joy of reading comic books. It's spokeperson is a BULL ( stuffed animal ) named "Bully" who seems to have an unheathly obsession with Jane Wiedlin ( Guitar, Vocals of the 1980's GO-GO's rock group ). My favorite part of the site is a series of articles called SEPARATED AT BIRTH. He shows examples of how comic books do "Homage" covers meaning they do a modern day version of an old classic comic book's cover. A few examples are shown above. Be sure to check out Bully's page sometime but please remember to bookmark the Bat-Blog before ya leave!

Retro 1970's JOINTED GIANT BATMAN FIGURE HANG-UPS

I recently saw these 2 pictures at a friend's blog & thought they were so cool I had to "steal them", ha ha! ( Click on the small picture up above for a way larger, more detailed, photo ). The blog I'm talking about is PLAID STALLIONS. At his site he concentrates on old 70's sales catalogs with pictures of vintage toys & wacky clothing. It's a pretty entertaining site with a lot of good memories & funny humor. One of his posts were these JOINTED-GIANT HANG-UPS pictured here. These were simple jointed-figures, printed on stiff poster-board, that were articulated & meant to display on the wall. I seriously love the "Store Display Racks" shown in the top photo. I remember these toys as a kid & as an adult toy collector I have the Superman ( loose, actually hanging in my office ) & the Batman, still in the original package. They also made a Wonder Woman & Spiderman. Something I didn't know, until seeing these photos at Plaid Stallions, is that they made 2 different sizes of each character. They made a smaller figure & a "Life-Size" figure. He has many more photos of this amazing toy line at his blog so be sure to visit http://www.plaidstallions.com today!
