The other night we were pretty happy to get an email from our friend Anthony who said he has plans to go as THE JOKER at the next 2012 San Diego Comic Con ( this month, in July ). In the mean time he wanted to share a few pics that feature some details of his costume. The entire thing is totally amazing & even the hair/make-up is great too. This style & variation is one of my favorite "Jokers". The Joker-Head Walking Cane is also a nice touch. ( Thanks Anthony, Good Job! )

Here is our Good Buddy Desmond. He's a very cool little kid and what's even cooler is, he's a HUGE Batman Fan! I mean, this Kid is totally coo-coo crazy for the Dark Knight! Well, here's a photo of him that his Mom recently emailed to us because he wanted us to all see his brand-new BATMAN Shoes. These are special Converse Sneakers and you can find them at Journey's. I really like the design of these and they're perfect for children. Oh yeah, you might notice in the 1st pic that Desmond is also sporting a cool Batman Logo T-Shirt AND Bat-Sunglasses!

Our Buddy, Ace Bat-Reporter BATDAVE, hit his local Shopping Mall the other day in New Jersey and found this extremely excellent BATMAN AND JOKER T-Shirt at a retail store called "Journeys". It's a "Reversible Tee", meaning that one image is printed on the inside. So, you can turn your shirt inside-out and have a second shirt... a very cool idea! Plus, I'm loving the artwork here.
I was a little kid back in the 1970's so much of the Batman Toys and Collectibles from that era have a deep nostalgia for me. It's just that I remember actually playing with them, ha! So, here's a nice assortment of groovy 70's items!
First up is a BATMAN TRU-DIMENSION 3-D Action Picture Kit ©1976. Basically this was like a paint by numbers kit, except the "canvas" was 4 layers of clear plastic. You painted them sort of like the way an Animation Artist would paint a cartoon Cel, there were designs in black outline & you would fill-in the color by painting it's back side. Then when you flipped it around it was complete. Each piece had just a few different elements of one total picture. The 4 sheets of plastic were then put in a frame with each piece slightly separated & layered. The end result was a 3-D picture.
Then, here's something you don't see a lot nowadays. This is a Fanzine Magazine, COMIC ZINE #1, from Oct 1971. I'm totally digging the Golden Age artwork on the cover here! These are usually pretty hard to find because they were so limited & usually distributed regionally. Like, only sold in certain areas.
Next up, is an extremely SUPER-RARE item! This is a Batman Long-Sleeve T-Shirt made by a Children's Clothing Company called "Rob Roy". The design on the front is made with artwork "borrowed" from Neal Adams. This example still has it's original Department Store Hang Tag! It was made around ©1974 and very hard to find.
Last, but not least, is this 1977 BATMAN STAMP 'N PRINT SET made by Ahi Brand ( Azrak-Hamway Int'l Inc ). This is one of those cheesy toys you would see at 7-Eleven or you might remember begging your Mom for this at a Grocery Store, ha! I totally love the vintage graphics. It's also cool that it contained a lot of Super-Villain character Rubber Stamps.
The other night, while totally wasting time on the Internet ( Ha Ha! ), I discovered this really cool website run by a girl named Betty Felon. She writes a blog called "FASHION TIPS FROM COMIC STRIPS" and it's actually pretty cool! She finds tons of Comic Book-Inspired fashions and Real-Life Clothing, then writes about it. Most of the stuff is for Girls. But anyways, I thought I'd share it.Oh yeah, here are some brand-new pants made by Tripp NYC that are inspired by Batman Villains, Harley Quinn and Two-Face! According to a blog named TOKYO FASHION it seems that BATMAN Themed T-Shirts are now all the rage in Japan, that's awesome! They recently did a post that features many cute Japanese Girls wearing the DARK KNIGHT Gear. Here's a link to check them out, just click HERE!
Here's a wonderful photo of an extremely RARE piece of Vintage Batman merchandise. It's a 1966 BATMAN Shirt... for a Little Girl. This item was bought off eBay awhile back from our friend Doug, who wrote, "I recently purchased this 1966 Batman Girl's Summer Shirt on eBay for a song. It is size 3X small cotton shirt with the Joker, Penquin, Batmobile, Batman, and Robin. It also has Gotham City in the background. Please note the Batman Logo is highlighted in pink and other features as well. This is the first one I have ever seen."
Yes, I have to agree that this is the very first time I have seen this variation. Now, I've seen this same graphic used on Baby bibs, Pillows, T-Shirts, etc...but never on a little girl's outfit & never in the strange hot pink variation, very cool! Thanks to Doug for sharing. I recently got a message from a guy named Steve who is searching for a piece of his childhood. Well, he's looking for a Batman Rain Coat that he had as a kid in the 1970's. He wrote me to see if I had any information but I have never seen this bat-product before. The cool thing, he made these 2 awesome drawings to represent what he's looking for. Yeah, he got into heavy detail here, ha! the Coat was made out of Heavy Black Latex Rubber & was sort of like a Poncho. It had a Bat-Cowl Hood with a Clear-Plastic Visor. On the back was a Large BATMAN Logo ( 1970's Style ) inside a Yellow Oval-Shape. So, has anybody ever seen this thing? If so then please let us know. Thanks.

In the next picture he's shown wearing one with a Batman-Logo! OK, now that's loyalty right there... a true Bat-Fan!
