Laugh At Rejected 'Judge Dredd' Costume by Gianni Versace

Back in 1995, when they were developing the first Judge Dredd movie starring Sylvester Stallone, fashion designer Gianni Versace sent some sketches to the film production. Prop Bay put the scans online.

Prop Bay doesn't give a history, but gives these notes: "This concept was discarded and not used. On the back of one of the drawings is Versace stamp. This is one of the few non-fashion lines Versace did."

It's easy to look back in hindsight and laugh. So, I will.

Click on the jump to see the images and click to enlarge.

Here's what the final costume did look like:
It's not hugely different, but they just look goofier for some reason.

Synopsis:
In a dystopian future, Dredd, the most famous judge (a cop with instant field judiciary powers) is convicted for a crime he did not commit while his murderous counterpart escapes. Director: Danny Cannon Writers: John Wagner (characters), Carlos Ezquerra (characters). Stars: Sylvester Stallone, Armand Assante and Rob Schneider

What do you think of the illustrations? Would the movie have hit with Versace's designs?

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES - THE BAT VEHICLE Laser-Etched Glass Cube

OK, This is one of those glass cubes you usually see at Truck Stops and Flea Markets where it's a glass cube with some mysterious 3D artwork that is inside. It always amazes me, "How do they do that?" Apparently they use lasers... it's a total mystery but a very cool effect. Anyway, around December, 2012, DC Direct will be releasing a special one that features "THE BAT", Batman's Flying Vehicle from THE DARK KNIGHT RISES Movie. It's gonna measure about 4" high x 4" wide x 4" deep and will have a retail price of $29.95.

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES CATWOMAN PIN-UP ART By Cameron Stewart

DC Comics' BATMAN AND ROBIN Comic Book Artist, Cameron Stewart, was recently very inspired by Anne Hathaway's performance as Catwoman in the recent DARK KNIGHT RISES Batman Movie ( who wasn't? ) and after seeing the film he created this awesome pin-up art! Hey, if you're a big fan of Cameron's artwork then check out his website, CLICK HERE!

VIDEO - Batman's 1966 Batcopter and Batmobile Team-Up!

OK, anyone who has been following the BAT-BLOG for awhile knows that we have an excellent group of friends in New Jersey who are always contributing some very cool Batman-related stories. Here's a very good example:

Recently they all got together and created this Mini BATMAN TRIBUTE Movie that shares the adventure they had at the 2012 New Jersey State Fair. While there, they had the opportunity to film the Original 1966 Bat-Copter ( flown by Capt. Gene Nock ) and a beautiful 1966 Batman TV Show Batmobile Replica Car together!! This stuff is pretty cool to see so please check it out. Also, if you're a Facebook Member, then PLEASE share it so others can enjoy it too, thanks!

MUSIC VIDEO - BATMAN MOVIE Theme Song ( Metal Version )

Here's an extremely excellent version of Danny Elfman's BATMAN MOVIE Theme Song that recently popped-up on YouTube, enjoy. ( Thanks Lee, The BatFan! )

HEY! BATMAN is Not Soft, Warm, and Cuddly!

Here's a quick post to share this fun photo a friend of ours sent in to us. His name is Kevin and, recently, he had a birthday and one of his gifts happened to be a nice BATMAN THROW Blanket with cool graphics from THE DARK KNIGHT RISES Movie Poster. Now, that's all serious stuff but the funny thing is the ad copy on the packaging. It says, "Soft, Warm, and Cuddly!". Now this doesn't seem like the right words to describe BATMAN, I'm pretty sure they're talking about the blanket! Ha Ha! ( Thanks for sharing Kevin and Happy Birthday Dude! )

WATCH - BATMAN: PUPPET MASTER - A New Fan-Film Movie

BATMAN: PUPPET MASTER is a brand-new short fan-film movie set in Christopher Nolan's modern-day "Dark Knight" universe. The story is meant as a sequel to "The Dark Knight" and it bridges the gap between that film and the current "Dark Knight Rises". This is a film created by fans, for fans, and it delivers an exciting storyline that introduces new versions of Victor Zsasz, The Ventriloquist with Scarface, and Edward Nigma (aka The Riddler), who fans were expecting to appear in Nolan's third Batman film back when there was not a lot news but a ton of speculation.

Overall, this BATMAN fan-film is very excellent. The acting is very decent, the camera work/lighting/editing/sets/costumes/etc are all top-notch. The special effects are very impressive, especially the stuff with Batman's bat-a-rang weapons. Hey, I'll shut-up now so you can enjoy this cool video, WATCH IT!! ( Whoops, as a side note I should say that this fan-film is in NO way associated with Warner Bros or DC Comics )

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES - Batman Toys and Movie Merchandise From BRAZIL!!

OK, Anyone who has been following the BAT-BLOG.COM for the last few years ( or days ) knows that I am totally crazy for "Foreign Batman" Products and Toys, ha! As a Serious Batman Collector this stuff just always looks so cool & it's actually very hard to find. So, you can just imagine how excited I was to hear from a Friend in Brazil who recently bought a bunch of cool stuff. His name is Marcio & he was kind enough to share these great photos! ( Be sure to click on them for larger pics )

In the 1st pic Marcio concentrated on some Batman Board Games and Boxed Jigsaw Puzzles he bought. Of course these are all related to THE DARK KNIGHT RISES Movie. I totally love the graphics on these, especially the 2 LARGE Board Game Boxes.

Then, speaking of the film, the 2nd pic shows some goodies he got at his local Brazilian Cinema. Yes! In the beautiful Country of Brazil their IMAX Movie Theaters had some neat promo tie-ins! Shown here are some of the Drinking Cups, Popcorn Buckets ( I love those ), Water Bottle, Paper Bags, and even a Baseball Cap/Hat!

A special THANK YOU goes out to MARCIO for sharing this, it's GREAT!

Plus, as a side-note, he did take some other pics of more Bat-Merchandise which we plan to post in the near future. So keep an eye out for that too!!

MICHAEL KEATON as the BATMAN?!

OK, This is a totally hilarious piece of original Bat-History right here. A Bat-Blog Fan, who wishes to remain anonymous ( we respect that ), sent us this copy of a petition some very serious people ( I think in Canada ) started back in the late 1980's when they heard the news that Michael Keaton was chosen as the Actor to play the role of "Batman" in the upcoming 1989 BATMAN Movie.

Now, how funny is this? The irony of course is that Mr. Keaton totally blew everybody away with his performance & turned out to be a really good Dark Knight!

It Reads:

"It has recently been announced that the Actor MICHAEL KEATON has been chosen to play the BATMAN in the big budget film being directed by TIM ( BEETLEJUICE ) BURTON for release in 1989 ( the 50th Anniversary of the BATMAN ). If the Producers of this movie are truly committed to leaving the camp image of the 60's TV Show behind and presenting to the world the DEFINITIVE DARK KNIGHT DETECTIVE they can't allow MICHAEL KEATON to play this role!! Don't get me wrong,  KEATON is a fine comedy actor who has done exemplary in the past in such films as BEETLEJUICE, MR. MOM, NIGHT SHIFT, etc.. but he's defiantly not the sort of imposing figure needed to define the ultimate creature of the night, the BATMAN! Help us to stop this ridiculous decision before filming starts in December/--88 Sign the petition below and let's bring the folks at Warner Brothers Films to their senses!

We, the undersigned, strongly insist that the decision to cast MICHAEL KEATON as the BATMAN is a major mistake and must be reversed before filming starts on BATMAN: THE MOVIE!!"

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES - Batman Themed Home Movie Theater Man Cave

Check out the photos up above & please be sure to click on them for larger HD versions. This is a special room in my new house. I recently remodeled my basement into a Bat-Cave & I gotta say it looks pretty awesome!! OK, this is NOT my house but a man can dream, right?

Basically, it's a Super Batman-Themed Home Movie Theater, or... the Ultimate Man Cave! One nice feature is a Set of Fake Bookcases that slide open by remote to reveal another room next to this one that has a Tumbler Batmobile (Replica) Garage!

There are also some some amazing Life-Size Batman Statues, a Bat-Computer Set-Up, Gothic-Style Lighting, Custom Railing with Film Bat-Symbol Logos, and then just look at the screen itself... AMAZING!! Oh man, how much did this cost? LOL!! Now, I'm not really sure what company did all this but they did an incredible job. One thing I can say though is that the special Leather Chairs were supplied by ELITE Home Theater Seating. OK, I'm just going to go cry now.

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES at The Movie Drive-In!!

"Hey, Let's All Go To The Lobby, Let's All Go To The Lobby..."

These photos are great for two reasons: 1. The Costumes look great! We have Batman, Catwoman, and Harley Quinn right here!! 2. They were shot at a Vintage-Style Movie Drive-In! I totally love those places, "Hey Mom, we're sitting IN the car AND watching a movie!". The audio was always kinda crappy but just the joy of going with a bunch of friends and having your own space was always good times. Plus, you ALWAYS had to go hit the concession stand for munchies, ha! Very cool!

Whoops, did I mention that Batman here is our friend William? Yes, This is him & his Wife ( I think, maybe? ), with another friend, and they all went in costume to go see THE DARK KNIGHT RISES at their local drive-in. Oh man, I bet if kids were there they went totally insane, ha! ( Thanks William for sharing your wonderful photos )
