JOE KUBERT TRIBUTE - The Greatest Comic Book Artist Ever!

OK, I'm gonna try to get through this post without crying and I'm being completely serious. Yesterday, while goofing around on Facebook, I came across the tragic news that a personal childhood hero of mine, the legendary Comic Book Artist Joe Kubert, passed away. He was 85 years old. Mr. Kubert had a very long career working in comics and all of his artwork has become totally iconic. Once you see it you can never forget it. He is mainly known for his work on Tarzan & Sgt. Rock but my personal favorites were when he drew Batman. He just had an incredible style.

I never had the privilege of meeting him but about 2 months ago our friend in New Jersey, BatDave, went to a signing at a popular Comic Book Store in New York City. Dave said that Joe Kubert was one of the nicest guys he had ever met. He also said he was kinda shocked that Mr. Kubert was not even charging for Autographs, a rare thing in today's greedy marketplace. But this doesn't surprise me as I have always been told by other friends who have met him that he was always very down to earth & super friendly. Another thing I know is that his art will live on forever. In fact, it's hard for me to even think about any other Artist even drawing Sgt. Rock. His style was so much a part of that character. He will be missed. My condolences go out to his friend and family. Please find peace & know that he will live on forever in the hearts of Comic Book Fans all over the world.

GOTHAM CITY BATMAN TATTOO - Inspired by Jim Lee's Art in HUSH Book

I received a nice email the other night from a Bat-Blog Fan named David who said he recently got some bat-ink done. The cool thing was he shared these excellent pics with us. He explained that the artwork was inspired by the art of Jim Lee that you can see in a panel from the BATMAN: HUSH Graphic Novel. It's main focus is the skyline of Gotham City with a Batman Bat-Symbol Logo under it, very interesting choice & well done! Also, it has some of the GCPD Blimps in it too! ( Thanks David )

OK, Now, how is this for a Batman Villain Team-Up?! This photo was submitted by an awesome Bat-Blog Fan who recently got some ink done. But instead of getting Batman he decided to showcase 2 of his favorite Villains: The Joker and Solomon Grundy! Both were done by a Tattoo Artist named Randy Hall ( Empire Tattoo in Asheville, NC ) and he did a great job!

New BATMAN, RIDDLER, and TWO-FACE Tattoo Art!!

OK, these photos sent in by a Bat-Blog Fan are not the completed Tattoo Artwork, but more along the lines of showing "a work in progress". There is still some more coloring to do but so far it's all looking really good! As you can see, he has Batman, Riddler, and Two-Face. Also, this Bat-Ink is being done by Citrus City Tattoo. Good work guys!

1989 BATMOBILE CAR Sand Art Seen at Belmar Beach, NJ!

Here's a recent "Batman News Story" that is very very FUN! Some of our Good Bat-Friends, a Group of really Cool Kids known as "The Junior Bat-Squad", recently entered a SAND ART Contest at Belmar Beach in New Jersey. For their entry they created this wonderful Replica of a Batmobile Car that is exactly like the one used in the Classic 1989 BATMAN Movie ( Tim Burton )! Check out the pics, this thing is AWESOME!!!!!

Now, they won 2nd place, which is really GREAT, but I gotta say that I think the contest was probably rigged because the thing that won 1st place was really ugly, ha ha! Yeah, I bet the Joker probably had something to do with that!

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES - Street 3-D Chalk Art

OK, I have been trying to figure out both who is the extremely talented Artist who did this AND in what city/country did he ( or she ) do it! But for now just please enjoy this incredible piece of ART! It's one of those 3-D Chalk Art things you see on the street that have an amazing special effect where it created a crazy optical illusion. Plus, it was obviously made as an homage to THE DARK KNIGHT RISES Batman Movie. Wow, just look at it, it looks so real!!

Paul's KICK-ASS BATMAN VILLAINS Tattoo Art Photo!

We  always love it when Batman Fans who get Batman-related Tattoos share pics of the artwork they have recently had done. Here's one from a BAT-BLOG Reader named Paul who got, not only Batman, but a Lot of Villains as well: The Joker, Two-Face, Scarecrow, Penguin, and Bane! The 2nd photo shows the original comic book art that was the inspiration. It's interesting to see that Bane was added later. The Tattoo Artist is named "Bobby No" of Scallywag Tattoos in Miami, Fl. JAPANESE BATMAN BAT-MANGA TATTOO ART

Over at the Official CHIP KIDD Website they recently posted an awesome BATMAN TATTOO ART Photo that is based on the BAT-MANGA Japanese Comic Book Bat-Logo & it's really great! This tattoo is on the leg of a guy named Marcio, who lives in Rio de Janeiro, and I gotta say it's really cool. I like it a lot!

Here's a fun post sharing some pictures sent to us all the way from the UK! This is a JACK NICHOLSON JOKER Art Bust Statue painted by a Bat-Blog Fan named Lee. Like I said he lives in England and also likes to be creative every now & then. Well, he recently painted this "Mike Hill Sculpt" of the Joker and it's pretty amazing! The detailing is really nice. He said he, "added that fake flower later", and I think it really accents the piece nicely, great job Lee!
