Check out these amazing pictures! Our Dear Friend Melissa was kind enough to send us these wonderful photos from her recent wacky-crazy shopping spree at Wal-Mart. BATMAN APPEARANCES in the MOTHER GOOSE & GRIMM Newspaper Comic Strip

Every now and then, in the newspaper, you'll see a reference to BATMAN in one of the Comic Strips. There are 2 that do this a lot. One is "Bizarro" by Dan Piraro, a great strip with wonderful artwork & fun humor! Then, shown here, are a few examples of "Mother Goose & Grimm" by Mike Peters. I've seen this guy make fun of "Batman" many times & I'm thinking he's a huge DC Comics Fan. Here are a few recent ones that are totally hilarious! New Batman Toys - BANE Hot Wheels DC Universe Series

Here's a quick post to share a recent retail store find by our Good Friend and Toy Reporter, Batmobilly! He snagged these 2 new Hot Wheels DC UNIVERSE Cars the other night, a Wonder Woman and Bane! Looking on the back of the package is a newer "Batman" Car. Then, we have a random "Concept Art" photo of a few different cars. WOW, Mattel is going crazy with these aren't they?! The one in the very middle looks like a TWO-FACE Car, Cool!

SONIC To Introduce JUSTICE LEAGUE TOTS - Wacky Pack Kids' Meal Plush Toys

SONIC Restaurants just announced on their website that their next "Wacky Pack Kids' Meal" will be DC Comics' JUSTICE LEAGUE TOTS! Yes, These are small Plush Toys in the shape of our favorite food, Tater Tots! They will also come with Card Trading Packs. There will be 10 Toys to collect: Superman, Clark Kent, Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter, The Flash, Hawkgirl, Aquaman, Supergirl, Bizarro, Plastic Man, and...WAIT! THERE'S NO BATMAN!?!!

WE CAN BE HEROES - The Justice League Joins The Fight To Help End The Hunger Crisis in the Horn of Africa

DC Entertainment and Warner Brothers have created a Campaign to help fight the hunger crisis in the Horn of Africa. It's called "WE CAN BE HEROES" and it will use the JUSTICE LEAGUE characters as a vehicle (Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, The Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg).



WE CAN BE HEROES will support the efforts of three humanitarian aid organizations working in Africa: Save the Children, International Rescue Committee and Mercy Corps.

The region is suffering its worst drought and famine in over 60 years, with 13 million in need of critical assistance and 250,000 facing starvation in Somalia alone.

Basically, if I got the information right, DC Entertainment will match each dollar donated until two million dollars has been distributed over the next two years. One way they will be raising funds is through the sale of special merchandise. This includes a WE CAN BE HEROES T-Shirt ( shown up above ), an iPhone Cover, Water Bottle, and Ceramic Coffee Mug. Jeffery's Custom BATMAN and WONDER WOMAN Wedding Cake Topper!

OK, Now, How Cool is This?! Recently, a Bat-Blog Fan named Jeffery got married and for the special occasion he made a BATMAN and WONDER WOMAN Wedding Cake Topper! He used some Action Figures from Mattel's "Justice League" line to make it & it's really GREAT! Thanks Jeffery for sharing this special moment & wonderful photos. Oh yeah, and CONGRATULATIONS!

BATMAN AUCTION NEWS - Rare ROBIN PEZ Dispenser Sells For Over $1500

Just recently, on evil eBay, a Rare ROBIN The Boy Wonder PEZ CANDY Dispenser Prototype sold for $1540.00, wow! Back in the 1970's the PEZ CANDY Company came out with a set of DC Comics Superhero Dispensers. They made Batman, Batgirl, Wonder Woman, The Joker, and The Penguin. Now that was not a big deal really. They came out with new characters all the time. But the thing about these that were special were that they had "rubber heads" instead of the regular hard plastic ones. PEZ experimented with this on occasion & there are a few "Rubber Heads" out there. I don't know if they were created for safety reasons or to lower the cost of production, who knows.

But as a manufacturing company PEZ needed to create promotional literature to send to Retail Store chains so these places would order their product. So, from time to time, they would make these "fake PEZ" for the photographs, usually, before production happened. Most of the time they had already created a mold in which to make the product. OK, for a promo photo they added some ROBIN PEZ that they were considering. Why he was dropped nobody knows but my guess is that they thought he would not sell very well ( everybody will want "Batman" ) or they wanted a "Girl PEZ" to make sure that Moms bought these toys for their Daughters too. That might explain the weird fact that there is a "Wonder Woman" mixed in with all these Batman characters.

So now this long-winded story ( sorry ) gets to the modern-day Auction. This eBay Seller had somehow come across this RARE "Robin" Prototype that was still "MINT in Original Package" & never produced on a large scale. Like, I don't know the exact numbers, but they might have only made 10 of these & then how many of these exist today? So, in both the PEZ collecting world and Batman Memorabilia this ROBIN PEZ is super-rare!

DC Direct's MAD Magazine JUST-US LEAGUE OF STUPID HEROES Action Figures

In early April of 2012, if the Mayan Calendar Theory doesn't kick-in & we're all still alive, then DC Direct has plans to release a brand-new set of Action Figures called "JUST-US LEAGUE OF STUPID HEROES". They will feature ALFRED E. NEUMAN, the Mascot for MAD Magazine, as a different member of the Justice League of America: Superman, Green Lantern, Aquaman, Robin, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Green Arrow, and even The Joker. I was a HUGE Fan of MAD Magazine when I was a little kid & totally love these new toys! I gotta say that one of the JOKER is my favorite. Alfred E. Neuman just seems so appropriate for that character, Ha Ha!

Hey Boys and Girls, it's time again for Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday! This week I thought I would post a few PC backgrounds that are sort of a Tribute to the BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD Cartoon. I mean, you gotta admit, it's the very BEST thing on TV! The 1st image is from an episode with Green Lantern & the 2nd two are when Wonder Woman was a special guest.

DC Superheroes + PENTAX Optio RS1500 Digital Camera Collector Pack

Warner Bros & Pentax have teamed-up to release a special DC SUPER HEROES Digital Camera around the time of the release of the Green Lantern Movie. Pentax is gonna sell a "DC COMICS Collector Pack" for their Optio RS1500 Digital Camera. Basically, it comes with seven different skins you can change on the front ( 3 of them are "Batman-related" ). The characters will include: Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, The Flash, Batman, Joker, and Catwoman! I really like the fact that they're using older comic book art...nice!

Collector Reference Photo - 1976 Pepsi Series DC Superhero Character Promo Glass Set

Just the other day I got an email from a Bat-Blog Reader asking me about a Batman Promo Glass he found at a Garage Sale. He sent a photo of it and as soon as I saw it I knew what it was. I mean, I totally remembered these from my childhood in the 70's. It's a glass from the 1976 DC Comics Superhero Pepsi Series. If I remember right, they were a promotion at Burger King, the Fast Food Restaurant ( or was it Arby's? ). But either way here's a photo that shows the complete set of 6 glasses ( Click on the pic for a larger sharper version ). New DC SUPER-PETS BOOKS - Book Launch Celebrates with Contest

Picture Window Books ( a division of Capstone Publishing ) just released a brand-new series of Children Books called DC SUPER-PETS. The Illustrator for these are none other than Art Baltazar. You might recognize his name from the successful TINY TITANS comic books. The basic concept for this new series is that they tell stories about the adventures of SUPER-PETS who are owned by some of your favorite DC Comics Superheroes: Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, & Green Lantern. Their names are Ace the Bat-Hound, Krypto the Super-Dog, Streaky the Super-Cat, Beppo the Super-Monkey, and Jumpa the Super-Kangaroo.



Now, to celebrate the launch of this new series, Picture Window Books is sponsoring a writing contest for students in grades 1-3. Children enter the "My Pet is Super" contest by writing an article for an imaginary newspaper, The Daily Planet, about why their own pet is super! Art Baltazar will create an illustration of the winning Super-Pet that will appear in a future book in the DC Super-Pets series. The winning student will receive the original art as well as copies of the book. Authors of the top 50 entries in the contest will also win free books. New DC UNIVERSE ONLINE STATUES - Batman and Catwoman

OK, Since the Bat-Blog is ALL about the Dark Knight I'm just posting photos of the Batman-related statues, Batman and Catwoman. But before I get ahead of myself, here's the deal. For 2011 DC Direct is coming out with a huge set of statues to celebrate the entire DC UNIVERSE ONLINE Video Game world. They measure approx. 7 1/2" tall & are cold-cast porcelain. They're also based on the comic book art of Jim Lee. So far there are 10 statues planned to be released in small waves during 2011 but I think they will add even more once the video game becomes very popular. Who are the characters made so far?
