Then, here's another photo showing a very creative Grocery Store display where some Distributor really went the extra mile on AWESOME product display procedure, ha! This was at a Walmart in PA.
AS A SIDE NOTE:

JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA OVALTINE POSTER & T-SHIRT Ultra Rare 1960's Batman Memorabilia!

OK, I thought I'd do a quick post to share this ultra-rare piece of Bat-History! These photos are of 2 items that recently sold on evil eBay. One is a Store Display Poster for an offer to buy an OVALTINE Mail-Away Premium "JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA" T-Shirt. Those bright day-glo colors must have been seen by every little kid for a 3 mile radius, ha ha! Then, the next photo shows the actual JLA T-Shirt you could have got back in the 1960's ( I'm guessing around 1966 or 1967 ). Oh man, the retro-style graphics are totally beautiful and it even features Batman, Superman, Aquaman, Green Lantern, and The Flash! I wish I had these 2 pieces, especially that poster. But, I guess I'll just have to enjoy these pictures because this stuff is so ultra-rare it will probably never be seen by me in my lifetime. It's what we serious Vintage Toy Collectors call a "Museum Piece".

BATMAN AUCTION NEWS - Rare ROBIN PEZ Dispenser Sells For Over $1500

Just recently, on evil eBay, a Rare ROBIN The Boy Wonder PEZ CANDY Dispenser Prototype sold for $1540.00, wow! Back in the 1970's the PEZ CANDY Company came out with a set of DC Comics Superhero Dispensers. They made Batman, Batgirl, Wonder Woman, The Joker, and The Penguin. Now that was not a big deal really. They came out with new characters all the time. But the thing about these that were special were that they had "rubber heads" instead of the regular hard plastic ones. PEZ experimented with this on occasion & there are a few "Rubber Heads" out there. I don't know if they were created for safety reasons or to lower the cost of production, who knows.
But as a manufacturing company PEZ needed to create promotional literature to send to Retail Store chains so these places would order their product. So, from time to time, they would make these "fake PEZ" for the photographs, usually, before production happened. Most of the time they had already created a mold in which to make the product. OK, for a promo photo they added some ROBIN PEZ that they were considering. Why he was dropped nobody knows but my guess is that they thought he would not sell very well ( everybody will want "Batman" ) or they wanted a "Girl PEZ" to make sure that Moms bought these toys for their Daughters too. That might explain the weird fact that there is a "Wonder Woman" mixed in with all these Batman characters.
So now this long-winded story ( sorry ) gets to the modern-day Auction. This eBay Seller had somehow come across this RARE "Robin" Prototype that was still "MINT in Original Package" & never produced on a large scale. Like, I don't know the exact numbers, but they might have only made 10 of these & then how many of these exist today? So, in both the PEZ collecting world and Batman Memorabilia this ROBIN PEZ is super-rare!

Brand-New Wacky BATMAN AND ROBIN Products To Look Out For!
The real main focus of the BAT-BLOG.COM is to share the fun and joy of collecting cool Batman stuff! We report on a lot of the mainstream products but we also like to feature unusual items that might go under the radar. Here's some great examples. The 1st two pics were sent in by our Good Friend & Awesome Bat-Reporter, BATMOBILLY! He went on the Retail Store Hunt recently & came up with these unusual items.
First, here is a LEGO BATMAN Winter Hat & Glove Set for Kids. Hey, these are pretty awesome, I'd wear them! I totally love the graphics & the image of Batman & Robin climbing the wall totally make me wonder if it's a homage to the 1966 TV Show, ha! It looks like that famous scene, doesn't it?!

Next up is totally new line of Action Figures that Batmobilly found at Toys-R-Us. They are 4 Batman "STEALTH STRIKE" Toys! He said they were unknown to him & I gotta admit that I have not heard any news of them either, it's like they just came outta no where!

OK, the last photo is a totally cool piece to try to add to your collection but getting it is going to be difficult. Why? It's not a regular retail item but a special Store Display Standee for the BATMAN: ARKHAM CITY Video Game. This photo was sent in by our friend Jacob and, if I remember right, he said he got it at Wal-Mart. About the only way to get one of these is to go stalk Retail Stores that might have these & totally suck-up to the Store Manager, ha! I got some of these a few years back for the BATMAN LEGO Game from Blockbuster Video.

Bloomingdale's DYNAMIC DUOS NIGHT - Batman and Robin Manikins

We reported at the Bat-Blog awhile back about all the special DC COMICS 75th Anniversary merchandise that the Bloomingdale's Store had. It was some really cool stuff, mostly clothing & T-Shirts. Most of it was totally EXCLUSIVE & you could only get it there. But check out this photo of a display they had around Christmas. It was for "DYNAMIC DUOS NIGHT". They had these custom-made Batman and Robin Manikins to show where the line for Santa Claus starts!

BATMAN AND ROBIN Toys and Collectibles from the 90's

In the 1990's it was a great time to be a Batman Toy collector. I mean, you had all the movies going on, and then on TV, you also had the wonderful Animated Series Cartoon. Shown here are a few cool toys & 90's memorabilia pieces picked totally at random. The 1st item is a very RARE 1992 BATMAN RETURNS Ralston Cereal Store Display Sign. Kids would have seen this at the Grocery Store & then start begging Mom, ha! I really like the graphics on this thing. Speaking of the cereal, the next pic shows a few BATMAN RETURNS Cereal Box Premiums that were available FREE inside the boxes! These are 3-D Flicker Bookmarks, meaning, you tilt them & the pictures change from one image to the other. There were 3 of them in the complete set: Catwoman, Batman, and The Penguin. Now the next photo sort of gets away from the movies for a minute. This is a Plush Batman Doll from 1994 ( 16" Tall ) that was tied-into "The Adventures of Batman and Robin" Animated TV Series. I love the old cartoon logo & the packaging is interesting with the "open box" design. Last, but not least, is a RARE 1997 BATMAN AND ROBIN Movie Store Display Sign from Taco Bell. It advertised the contest they had going on their Pepsi Drink products. Well, does any of these items bring back any memories? I know back then I was totally about the cereal, ha ha!

CULVER CITY WALL MURAL: Homage To 1966 Batman TV Series

A Good Citizen named Perry sent this wonderful photo with some very interesting information. The TRADER JOE'S store in Culver City, California, had a mural on its wall that pays homage to the 1966 Batman TV series ( click on the above photo for a larger, more readable version ). It reads, "Commissoner, The prices at Trader Joes are so low, it's GOT to be a crime!", ha ha! The underneath the mural there's a painted plaque that says, "BATMAN The Television Series was filmed in Culver City from 1966-1968." Awesome!! Thank You Perry, this is in deed a great piece of Bat-History!

Vintage BATMAN 8mm Film Movie MEMORABILIA Magazine Ad

The other day a friend sent me this photo of an old magazine ad he found. He said, "Hey Tommy, Do you remember those old Monster Magazines from the 60's & 70's? Ya know, the ones that were all black & white inside. Well, I found one with this ad in the back I knew you would like". I said, "Wow! yeah, this is an awesome piece of Bat-History, thanks!" The ad is for those old vintage 8mm film reels you could buy to watch on the wall at home. This set is for the BATMAN SERIAL MOVIES from the 1940's. Now, the thing that makes this pic so cool is take a look at the store display box!! These movies were sold in small boxes & when we find them they're usually there but that special "store counter box" used to display them is extremely super-rare! Now, everybody, please excuse the 2nd photo being kinda blurry but what I did was blow it up to give you a better idea of what I'm talking about...that display box is AWESOME! Thanks Dave for sending the cool photo, I appreciate that!

THE DARK KNIGHT Batman Movie Promo Store Display

A new friend over at MySpace, named Jessica, sent me this very cool photo showing an amazing new find of hers. She found a "DARK KNIGHT" Film Store Display at a Suncoast Store &, I guess, begged the store manager for it! I know she sent this photo, not to brag, but to torture me... because it's pretty well known how I go totally goo-goo over store displays, ha ha ha! She had a few other pictures at her site that were "Batman-related" so I stole those too & she doesn't know that those will be posted here too, so HA HA! The other two had to be stolen because they are very cute & kind of funny. In one she's a little girl meeting Batman in 1994 ( very cute ) & the other one is her more modern day & she's just being silly ( very funny ). Thanks Jessica for the great photos, I appreciate that. Yes, the TDK store display you have is very very cool, I'm jealous, JEALOUS!! ha ha!!

The Dark Knight Batman Movie Reese's Candy Store Display

Oh man... a friend of mine, named Dave, sent me this photo the other day I think just to torture me, ha ha! He knows how I totally love the Batman "store display" items because of their rarity & beauty! This one is a HUGE Batman Candy Bar Store Display for the recent THE DARK KNIGHT movie promotion with the Hershey's Chocolate company. They made special Kit Kat & Reese's Candy Bars that were a tie-in promo. I seriously love the large header card with the photo of Batman about to punch you out...awesome! Thanks Dave, I hope you got me this thing as a gift!! I'm not sure why the picture is so small here but if you click on it you can see this baby in all it's glory, check it out!!

THE DARK KNIGHT BatmanToy Display at TOYS-R-US in Oklahoma City!

OK, I am NOW a major Bat-Nerd! When I saw this HUGE Batman / The Dark Knight Movie Store Display at Toys-R-Us in Oklahoma City (my hometown) I had to get some photos of it to share here, ha ha! It looks really cool & as soon as you enter the store, BAAMMM! There it is! The figure of Batman, in the middle, has a really neat multi-level 3-D quality to it that makes it look like he coming right at you! Then, on both sides are some very cool graphics of the Tumbler Batmobile & the Bat-Pod motorcycle ( they're 3-D also ). While there ( and since I had my camera ) I also got some photos of a few new Batman Dark Knight toys that looked pretty cool. First, there's the Large 30 inch Batman Figure that is totally & completely incredible! I mean, they are beautiful works of ART. Another new item I thought was kinda cool, in a weird way, was this Tyco RC Remote Controlled Bat-Boat! Now, I don't think this is an actual vehicle they're gonna have in the new movie ( I think they "made it up" & I usually hate that ) but it kinda looks like the Tumbler's design & is very unusual. Right now I want to ask all Bat-Blog Readers who have any "Store Display" photos to please send them in. Our e-mail button is always at the top right side of this page.

NEW BATMAN MERCHANDISE: Arcor THE DARK KNIGHT CANDY From Argentina!

Right now, in Argentina, the Arcor Candy Company has some very cool Batman THE DARK KNIGHT Candy for sale! Actually, it's 2 different flavors of Bubble Gum, Tutti-Fruity & Mint. Inside every wrapper is a "Free Batman Sticker". I would seriously love to get some boxes of this candy. The 2 different Display Boxes, with the cool headers, are awesome! Something I wanna do right now is ask all of our "foreign readers" to please let us know about Batman products from around a world ( doesn't have to be "The Dark Knight" but anything Batman ). As regular readers of this blog know I am totally goo-goo over the "foreign stuff", ha ha!
