Creators/Executive Producers Seth Green and Matthew Senreich combine one of Adult Swim's highest-rated original shows with DC Comics most popular characters
First they tantalized you with three Emmy®-nominated Robot Chicken Star Wars specials, now Stoopid Buddy Stoodios, in partnership with DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Animation, bring you the awesomeness of the DC Comics universe of characters as only Robot Chicken can, with amazing guest stars and the stop-motion sketch comedy you've come to love after five seasons of the popular Adult Swim series.
The all-star cast includes Green as Batman, Robin and the put-upon Aquaman, Paul Reubens as The Riddler, Neil Patrick Harris as Two-Face, Alfred Molina as Lex Luthor, Nathan Fillion as the Green Lantern, Megan Fox as Lois Lane, Breckin Meyer as Superman, plus Abe Benrubi, Alex Borstein, Clare Grant, Tara Strong, Senreich, Tom Root, and Zeb Wells.
Green said, "Having been raised on DC Comics and the Super Friends vs. Legion of Doom, it's exciting to tell a whole Robot Chicken story within this awesome universe." Senreich adds, "We've been working with Geoff Johns for over 15 years, so playing together on this special only made it more fun to work in the worlds we all love so dearly."
The Robot Chicken DC Comics Special airs this Fall and features many Robot Chicken favorites including the Robot Chicken Nerd, the Humping Robot, Composite Santa, and the Mad Scientist who will be joined by the DC characters to poke fun at those with the most impressive powers and the lesser ones who can't really be called superheroes.
"Working with Seth and Matthew and the rest of the Robot Chicken crew has always been nothing short of insanity over the years. DC, Warner Bros. Animation and Adult Swim together? How could anyone resist?" said Geoff Johns, DC Entertainment Chief Creative Officer.
SONIC Restaurants just announced on their website that their next "Wacky Pack Kids' Meal" will be DC Comics' JUSTICE LEAGUE TOTS! Yes, These are small Plush Toys in the shape of our favorite food, Tater Tots! They will also come with Card Trading Packs. There will be 10 Toys to collect: Superman, Clark Kent, Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter, The Flash, Hawkgirl, Aquaman, Supergirl, Bizarro, Plastic Man, and...WAIT! THERE'S NO BATMAN!?!!
OK, I thought I'd do a quick post to share this ultra-rare piece of Bat-History! These photos are of 2 items that recently sold on evil eBay. One is a Store Display Poster for an offer to buy an OVALTINE Mail-Away Premium "JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA" T-Shirt. Those bright day-glo colors must have been seen by every little kid for a 3 mile radius, ha ha! Then, the next photo shows the actual JLA T-Shirt you could have got back in the 1960's ( I'm guessing around 1966 or 1967 ). Oh man, the retro-style graphics are totally beautiful and it even features Batman, Superman, Aquaman, Green Lantern, and The Flash! I wish I had these 2 pieces, especially that poster. But, I guess I'll just have to enjoy these pictures because this stuff is so ultra-rare it will probably never be seen by me in my lifetime. It's what we serious Vintage Toy Collectors call a "Museum Piece".
DC Entertainment and Warner Brothers have created a Campaign to help fight the hunger crisis in the Horn of Africa. It's called "WE CAN BE HEROES" and it will use the JUSTICE LEAGUE characters as a vehicle (Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, The Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg).
WE CAN BE HEROES will support the efforts of three humanitarian aid organizations working in Africa: Save the Children, International Rescue Committee and Mercy Corps.
The region is suffering its worst drought and famine in over 60 years, with 13 million in need of critical assistance and 250,000 facing starvation in Somalia alone. Basically, if I got the information right, DC Entertainment will match each dollar donated until two million dollars has been distributed over the next two years. One way they will be raising funds is through the sale of special merchandise. This includes a WE CAN BE HEROES T-Shirt ( shown up above ), an iPhone Cover, Water Bottle, and Ceramic Coffee Mug. OK, This is pretty cool! The BAT-BLOG.COM was recently blessed with an awesome shout-out review on the FIRE AND WATER Podcast! This is the Official Podcast of two awesome comic book-related blogs called THE AQUAMAN SHRINE and FIRESTORM FAN. Each one does an excellent job of covering their favorite DC Comics Superhero Characters. But the Podcast is a combination of both, hence the name, "Fire and Water".
Now, just a few days ago, on Episode #7, both Rob Kelly ( Aquaman ) and the "Irredeemable SHAG" ( Firestorm ) mentioned the BAT-BLOG and gave a well appreciated, very cool, review of this website. Among other things, they said something about, "The BAT-BLOG is Great For Your Daily Bat-Fix!", ha ha! Wow! It's really an honor because it's a fun podcast to listen to. In the past I have downloaded a few shows & it's usually pretty interesting, they're both great hosts. Besides talking about their favorite characters they also delve into older comic book history and a little recent Pop Culture. If you're a Fan of Aquaman then you need to check out THE AQUAMAN SHRINE. You can also hear this podcast for free over at the FIRESTORM FANwebsite. In early April of 2012, if the Mayan Calendar Theory doesn't kick-in & we're all still alive, then DC Direct has plans to release a brand-new set of Action Figures called "JUST-US LEAGUE OF STUPID HEROES". They will feature ALFRED E. NEUMAN, the Mascot for MAD Magazine, as a different member of the Justice League of America: Superman, Green Lantern, Aquaman, Robin, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Green Arrow, and even The Joker. I was a HUGE Fan of MAD Magazine when I was a little kid & totally love these new toys! I gotta say that one of the JOKER is my favorite. Alfred E. Neuman just seems so appropriate for that character, Ha Ha!
Here's a new Video Clip of the next BATMAN THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD Cartoon titled “Time Out for Vengeance!”. It airs on Friday, September 23rd at 6:00 p.m. ET/PT on the Cartoon Network.
The Basic Plot:
In order to save Batman in the present time, the Justice League International must travel to various eras in time and aid that era’s Batman who is being hunted down by the minions of Batman’s old foe, Equinox. Superhero Guests include: Aquaman, Blue Beetle, Booster Gold, Guy Gardner. Also, the Creeper appears in the teaser section.
Just a few days ago Warner Bros released their latest animated TV cartoon DVD, "Batman: The Brave And The Bold, Season One, Part Two". The special thing about this DVD is that it's a 2-Disc Set. The packaging is pretty cool & it contains 13 complete episodes. Now, there are not a lot of extras here but DISC ONE has a nice Movie Trailer for the next DC Universe Animated Film, "All-Star Superman". DISC TWO has a preview for the "Hot Wheels Battle Force 5" Animated TV Series. One last note would be that the shows are avaliable in three languages: English, Spanish, & Portuguese.
Now I gotta say that this is one GREAT series & a very nice DVD Set. I wish it was the Complete Season but it does have quite a bit of entertainment value. Plus, it's nice to watch the show without all the TV commercials, ha! Another thing I like is that it includes some of my most favorite episodes of Season One: "Trails of the Demon", because of the "Sherlock Holmes" angle. "The Color of Revenge", because of all the references to the Golden Age Comic Books & also the 1966 TV Show. "The Last Bat on Earth", because it showcased some Classic Jack Kirby-Inspired Characters & it brought back a lot of childhood memories for me. Actually the list could go on because every episode is fun! This set also includes the famous "Music Meister" episode, which was completely done as a Musical, a very strange ( but fun ) concept. I think that if you're a Fan of this TV Cartoon then you're gonna be pretty happy with this product. Here's a prototype picture from the recent 2011 Funko Toys Catalog showing the 2nd Wave of DC Universe POP! Vinyl Figures. Now the main reasons I'm listing them here is because one of them is Batman-related, Two-Face! But the other Superheroes are cool as well: Hawkman, Green Arrow, Aquaman, Martian Manhunter, & Shazam! Right now there is no exact release date but I'm guessing sometime around August. Picture Window Books ( a division of Capstone Publishing ) just released a brand-new series of Children Books called DC SUPER-PETS. The Illustrator for these are none other than Art Baltazar. You might recognize his name from the successful TINY TITANS comic books. The basic concept for this new series is that they tell stories about the adventures of SUPER-PETS who are owned by some of your favorite DC Comics Superheroes: Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, & Green Lantern. Their names are Ace the Bat-Hound, Krypto the Super-Dog, Streaky the Super-Cat, Beppo the Super-Monkey, and Jumpa the Super-Kangaroo.
Now, to celebrate the launch of this new series, Picture Window Books is sponsoring a writing contest for students in grades 1-3. Children enter the "My Pet is Super" contest by writing an article for an imaginary newspaper, The Daily Planet, about why their own pet is super! Here's some wonderful photos of the brand-new FUNKO FORCE Mini-Action Figures ( with Bobble Head action! ) that will be coming out! At first I was just gonna show the BATMAN & JOKER ones, because this blog is mainly about "collecting Batman stuff", but the others were so cool I decided to add them too, ha ha! The extras include: SUPERMAN, GREEN LANTERN, & AQUAMAN. Oh man, I am totally loving these cool new toys & the JOKER one has got to be my personal favorite, ha! Finally! Today, McDonalds released a photo of what the new BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD Happy Meal Toys for the US market are gonna look like ( click on the pic up above for a larger version )!! There will be 8 toys to collect. Basically it's 6 figures & 2 vehicles. The figures include: Batman, Aquaman, Green Arrow, Blue Beetle, Plastic Man, & The Joker. The other ones are the Batmobile Car & Black Manta's Robot Ship. Plus, here's some added cool news. Each toy will be imprinted with a special code number that you can use to log-in at the McDonald's website to unlock a "Virtual Batmobile"!! Last night I went to McDonalds & asked then about this new set of toys & they said it would still be another week or two until they release them...So, what do you think about them?! Here's a CBS News video on the BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD panel at this year's 2010 San Diego Comic Con. We get to hear from Producers James Tucker and Michael Jelenic plus some of the amazing voice acting talent of Diedrich Bader ( Batman ) and John Di Maggio ( Aquaman ). The sad news is that, after the 3rd season is over, there won't be anymore episodes. But, once the show starts back up pretty soon there will be 28 more episodes so we'll still get to enjoy the show for quite awhile. Plus, even though Warner Bros is letting this series go ( which I don't know why, because it's very successful & many people love it ), there are rumors of a brand-new Batman cartoon that will be CGI. So, that's cool!
