DC Direct's MAD Magazine JUST-US LEAGUE OF STUPID HEROES Action Figures

In early April of 2012, if the Mayan Calendar Theory doesn't kick-in & we're all still alive, then DC Direct has plans to release a brand-new set of Action Figures called "JUST-US LEAGUE OF STUPID HEROES". They will feature ALFRED E. NEUMAN, the Mascot for MAD Magazine, as a different member of the Justice League of America: Superman, Green Lantern, Aquaman, Robin, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Green Arrow, and even The Joker. I was a HUGE Fan of MAD Magazine when I was a little kid & totally love these new toys! I gotta say that one of the JOKER is my favorite. Alfred E. Neuman just seems so appropriate for that character, Ha Ha!

THE ART OF MARK FREDRICKSON - The DARK KNIGHT Movie and MAD Magazine

A friend of mine sent me a link the other day to website for an amazing Graphic Artist named Mark Fredrickson. His artwork is extremely cool & I've known about his work for a long time but never knew his name, ha! You see, he created a few of the covers for MAD Magazine when they have done a parody of the Batman films. You might remember seeing the image shown here of Alfred E. Neuman as The Joker ( Heath Ledger version ). Mark also did a lot of the Stock Art ( or Style Guide Art ) used to promote THE DARK KNIGHT Movie Franchise. His images were placed in magazines, advertising, & other media packaging. Anyways, it's all good stuff & if you would like to see more of his work then just click HERE!

BATMAN Wallpaper - New MAD Animated TV Show

I don't mean for today to be "Wallpaper Backgrounds Day", ha ha, but last night I received some promo material from Warner Bros about their new MAD Animated TV Show on the Cartoon Network. The graphic here was so BIG that I decided to make it a Batman Wallpaper ( Click on it to see it's awesome beauty! ). This image shows Batman in his bedroom waking up because his bat-alarm went off. The whole room is bat-themed & it looks like it will be pretty funny. This is going to be one of the animation skits they have on the next brand-new episode that airs this Monday, September 13th, at 8:30pm, on The Cartoon Network.

MAD LOVE - JOKER and HARLEY QUINN ACTION FIGURE COLLECTOR SET

Here's a brand-new, just released, bat-product that is pretty awesome! This special collector set is based on one of the most popular and award-winning graphic novels of all time, Paul Dini and Bruce Timm's BATMAN: MAD LOVE!

Included in this set are action figures of Harley Quinn and The Joker, both boasting new color schemes and sculpts as well as the 64-page reprint of the award-winning BATMAN: MAD LOVE comic, which defined the complicated and cracked relationship between cute 'n' crazy Harley Quinn and her Puddin', The Joker.

The figures are approx. 7" high & Retail Price is around $ 39.99 but I've seen them a little cheaper so that's cool. Be sure to check out the prices at TFAW, that's where I buy a lot of stuff & they have great service.

Starting August 1st, 2009, the TOONSEUM at The Children's Museum of Pittsburgh will have a special art show titled TOM RICHMOND:The MAD ART OF CARICATURE. Basically, since 2000, Tom has been one of the main artists for Mad magazine. This show will feature tons of his original artwork & the reason I'm posting it here is because there will be some Batman drawings shown too. Plus, I'm a huge fan of comic art & it's my blog, ha ha! But seriously, if you live in the area ( Pennsylvania ) then you should check it out because I bet it's gonna be a real treat to see. The show runs until October 4th. New MAD MAGAZINE JOKER COVER : The Dark Knight Batman Movie ( Heath Ledger )

Here's the latest issue of MAD MAGAZINE with an awesome JOKER parody cover! It shows Alfred E. Neuman as the Heath Ledger version Joker from The Dark Knight Batman movie. "WHY SO STUPID?", that's hilarious! I saw this at evil Walmart the other night & was going to report on it but totally forgot. Then later I got an e-mail from a Bat-Blog Reader who reminded me ( Thanks Paul ). That just proves that if the Bat-Blog is any good at all then it's because of it's readers! Hey everybody - be a good citizen & keep sending photos, pictures, or information... thanks!

MAD MAGAZINE : The Famous 1966 Batman TV Show COVER

Here's a wonderful black & white photo sent in to us from a Bat-Blog Reader named Michael who said he loved this old publicity photo of Chief O'Hara from the 1966 Batman TV Show reading Mad Magazine. I have to agree, it's very cool! The actor's name is Stafford Repp. While watching the show, as a little kid, I always liked his thick Irish accent. Thanks Mike. The photo inspired me to hunt down my old issue of this classic magazine cover. I show a picture of it next to yours & even made a Desktop Wallpaper for you to enjoy...Thanks again.

History : Batman-Related Magazine Covers From The 1960's to the 1990's

This is what I call a "wacky post". It's meant to be humor & also sort of covers Bat-history. ( excuse the pun using the word "covers", ha ha ). Here are some nice examples of Batman, Robin, & Joker being featured on various magazine covers from the mid-1960's to 1995. The 1st picture is the 337th issue of Mad Magazine from July, 1995. It's a funny parody on one of the Batman Movies. Looks like Batman's new sidekick is Alfred E. Neuman, ha ha! The 2nd cover is a classic! It's a vintage copy of TEEN LIFE with a 1960's TV Show color photo showing Adam West & Burt Ward. The caption says, "Batman & Robin invite you to a private inside look at the way they really live & luv", sounds kinda Gaaayyy, ha ha! Plus, "Part 2 of Robin's own true love story"...oh my god! The 3rd picture is a vintage 80's video game magazine called NINTENDO POWER. It features the new 1989 BATMAN MOVIE game. I love that Joker!

Vintage BATMAN Magazine Covers, Part 2

Awhile back we published a small story about some vintage magazines that featured Batman & Robin on the cover & it turned out to be pretty popular so here's another series of Batman Magazine photos to enjoy! The 1st one is a British magazine titled BEM that featured a graphic of Catwoman with Batman all domesticated. I like the "post-modern look" of the magazine, very retro 80's new-wave punk. The 2nd photo is a magazine called ENCORE & it features a pretty funny political cartoon about the gas crisis. I guess gas prices are so high that Batman had to replace the Batmobile with a VW bug ( it's "Herbie The Love Bug" from the Disney movies ) . The last one is a classic Mad Magazine cover showing the Batman Returns Movie parody showing Micheal Keaton getting a haircut from Alfred E. Neuman.

ADAM WEST & BATMAN MAD MAGAZINE Wallpaper

I just got back from vacation so I thought I would post these 2 Batman Wallpapers & then get some sleep. The 1st one is the most current publicity photograph of Adam West. He still looks great for a man in his 70's, don'tcha think? I got this from a guy who got it directly from Mr. West's PR guy! The 2nd wallpaper was one I found at the Official Warner Brothers Mad Magazine website. It speaks for itself, ha ha ha. Remember, every Wednesday is "Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday" here at the olde BAT-BLOG!
