Here's a room that all Batman Fans would love to live in. These pics were sent in to us by a friend over at Facebook. His name is David & he says that this is the room where he does a lot of artwork. You can see his Drawing Table over in the corner. There are some really cool pieces of Batman stuff laying around ( Toys, Statues, Books, etc... ) but, of course, the main focus of the room are the wall murals. There are 2 major themes here: Heroes and Villains. For the "Heroes Wall" we get Batman, Robin, Batgirl, and Nightwing on a rooftop in Gotham City. It's done in the graphic art style of "The Adventures of Batman and Robin" animated series. Then, we get some Villains: Two-Face, Poison Ivy, Catwoman, The Joker, Harley Quinn, Clayface, & Mr. Freeze. They're all hanging out in front of Arkham Asylum! The artwork here is very well done. Overall the room is extremely excellent! A special thanks goes out to David for sharing his personal space. We totally love this room!
In the 1990's it was a great time to be a Batman Toy collector. I mean, you had all the movies going on, and then on TV, you also had the wonderful Animated Series Cartoon. Shown here are a few cool toys & 90's memorabilia pieces picked totally at random. The 1st item is a very RARE 1992 BATMAN RETURNS Ralston Cereal Store Display Sign. Kids would have seen this at the Grocery Store & then start begging Mom, ha! I really like the graphics on this thing. Speaking of the cereal, the next pic shows a few BATMAN RETURNS Cereal Box Premiums that were available FREE inside the boxes! These are 3-D Flicker Bookmarks, meaning, you tilt them & the pictures change from one image to the other. There were 3 of them in the complete set: Catwoman, Batman, and The Penguin. Now the next photo sort of gets away from the movies for a minute. This is a Plush Batman Doll from 1994 ( 16" Tall ) that was tied-into "The Adventures of Batman and Robin" Animated TV Series. I love the old cartoon logo & the packaging is interesting with the "open box" design. Last, but not least, is a RARE 1997 BATMAN AND ROBIN Movie Store Display Sign from Taco Bell. It advertised the contest they had going on their Pepsi Drink products. Well, does any of these items bring back any memories? I know back then I was totally about the cereal, ha ha!
I woke-up this morning to some very cool Batman pictures in my email box, that's always awesome! They were sent in by a Good Bat-Blog Citizen named Batmobilly. He shot some pictures of a few posters he has had professionally framed & they look really GREAT! ( Be sure to click on them for larger examples, they're really cool close-up ). The 1st one is a poster from Eskimo Pie & Welch's Fruit Pops when they had a tie-in promotion with "The Adventures of Batman & Robin" TV cartoon back in 1996. If you remember, you could get some trading cards on the back of the box & there were 12 different ones to collect. This poster was a mail-away item. I totally love the graphics on here because that TV series was so wonderful. The next poster advertises a Hot Rod Car Show event they had in Boston called "The World of Wheels". It's from 1993 & features a bold picture of the Batman movie Batmobile car! That would have been pretty cool to go to. Now, here's a unique piece of Bat-History, this poster was once accidentally shown on the "Home Improvement" TV Show. It happened when Tim Allen's character, while on a road trip, stops at a convenience store to ask for directions. The episode was called "You're Driving Me Crazy, You're Driving Me Nuts". Now, check out the last poster here. It's a comic book-style image of the 1966 Batman TV Show when they're firing-up the Batmobile. You know the scene, "Atomic batteries to power, turbines to speed. OK, ready to move out!". Wow! I wanna thank Batmobilly for taking the time to shoot these incredible photos. I gotta admit that I have never seen the last 2 posters here. But, sharing the love of collecting cool Batman stuff is really the main focus of the Bat-Blog!
Here's a very well-done mash-up video combining VIDEO of the actors in the live action 1966 Batman TV Show with the AUDIO of "The Adventures of Batman and Robin" 1977 animated cartoon series. The thing that's kinda cool is that Adam West & Burt Ward actually did the voices for the cartoon, so it matches-up very well.
One aspect of collecting Batman Memorabilia that I really enjoy are the wacky food products that companies come out with. I almost always love the design of the packaging to these items & a perfect example is the BATMAN GUMMY-BAT that is in stores now. Basically it's a HUGE gummy bear candy that is in the shape of a real-life flying bat ( yeah, very weird ). Now, the only place I have seen this so far is Toys-R-Us but it really cracks me up! The next example is a vintage ad from 1996. Back then if you bought Eskimo Pie Ice Cream or Welch's Fruit Juice Bars then you could have got 2 Batman & Robin: Animated Series Trading Cards, there were 12 to collect. ( Thanks to Mike for sending this cool photo ). So, I'm wondering... What other "Batman Food Products" are out there? While surfing the net the other day I came across this very interesting graphic somebody made that showed the evolution of the bat-costume from modern-day Batman TV cartoons. It starts with the Animated Series from 1992 & goes to present day with the new THE BATMAN version. I like that BATMAN BEYOND was also included, nice! I forgot to bookmark the page & now wish I knew so I could direct people there. If anyone knows please leave a comment, thanks.
