JULIE NEWMAR - MY LIVING DOLL TV Show - The Official Collection Vol. 1 is coming to DVD

Fans of Julie Newmar should be pretty excited about this! MPI Home Video has just announced that around March 2012 they will be releasing a brand-new 2-Disc DVD Set featuring "THE LIVING DOLL" TV Series! It will contain 11 complete episodes plus Special Features. This was the show she was on before becoming CATWOMAN on the 1966 BATMAN series. Here's their Press Release:

Iconic actress Julie Newmar may be best-known as the original feline villain Catwoman in the 1960s Batman television series. However, her cult-classic, small-screen career was cemented with the CBS-TV sitcom MY LIVING DOLL.

Newmar portrays Rhoda the robot, a top-secret project of the U.S. government's space program, who is placed under the supervision of agency psychiatrist Dr. Bob McDonald, played by Robert Cummings (The Bob Cummings Show/Love That Bob).

Bob moves the beautiful Rhoda into his apartment and begins the task of training her how to function in the human world while keeping her secret from being discovered, a situation complicated by his interfering sister (Doris Dowling) and his love-sick neighbor Peter (Jack Mullaney).

This collection offers 11 complete episodes of MY LIVING DOLL which have not aired on television in decades and make their official DVD debut. A wealth of special features is also included.

Bluewater Comics To Publish THE SECRET LIVES OF JULIE NEWMAR Biography

With the success of "The Misadventures of Adam West" comic book series Bluewater Comics decided to do a new spin-off book titled, "The Secret Lives of Julie Newmar", which begins in February 2012. The basic plot is that Julie Newmar, in the comic book( not real-life ), will be implanted with a mysterious chip that will allow her to travel through time. Newmar has said, "I think comic book fans will have fun as we travel through time and space. We'll visit some of my favorite memories of my life and visit some amazing moments in history." THE CONSCIOUS CATWOMAN - New JULIE NEWMAR Book

Something that a lot of people might not know about me is that I am totally obsessed with reading books. I read A LOT!! Dr. Seuss taught me to love to read from when I was a little kid and ever since then I have tried to read everything I can get my hands on, ha! In fact, every Librarian in all the local branches here practically know me by name, ha! Plus, I write the BAT-BLOG which tries to cover every single micro-angle of BATMAN, especially new products like books and toys. So, how did I never hear about this??? Well, I guess I'm an Total Idiot, ha!



OK, here's Julie Newmar's new book titled, "THE CONSCIOUS CATWOMAN". Now, it's not really much about her experiences as an Actress on the 1966 BATMAN TV Series, it's more of a "How To" type book where she shares her knowledge on living life to the fullest. But, the thing has been out for almost 6 months now and how did I never find out about it!? Crazy!! Glenn's CUSTOM BATMAN TOYS With CATWOMAN Dolls and 1967 BATGIRL Model Kit

Check out these amazing Custom Catwoman Dolls, Batgirl Model Kit, & Re-Designed Retro-Style Batman Toys! These were all made and or customized by our friend Glenn, also known as "infadoll". He likes to take old beat-up toys and give them new life. His main focus is Superhero-related characters. Shown here are two versions of Catwoman. The 1st one is Julie Newmar from the 1966 BATMAN TV Series. The fabric for the costume looks great & the necklace is really nice too. Then you have the "Golden Age" version from the 1940's comic books...MEOW!








The 3rd photo shows his talent for adding dioramas to his model kits. Here is a "Yvonne Craig" Batgirl from the 2nd season of TV's BATMAN. Wow, the face looks just like hers! Then, look at the last 2 pics. This is an old Vintage 1960's Palmolive BATMAN SOAKY Bubble Bath Bottle... transformed into ADAM WEST! If you're not familiar with the old toy it was actually extremely simple-looking & basic. In Glenn's version he detailed it quite a bit & made it more authentic to the TV Show, Coolness! 1966 Batman and San Francisco Fire Department Team-Up!

Check out this extremely cool Batman-themed T-Shirt used to promote the San Francisco Fire Department, specifically "Engine 26" in Diamond Heights. The design looks a lot like the opening title graphics for the 1966 BATMAN TV Show. Now, speaking of that TV series, somebody went to a Comic Book Convention where all the actors posed with the T-Shirt. There is Adam West ( Batman ), Burt Ward ( Robin, The Boy Wonder ), Julie Newmar ( Catwoman ), & the 1966 Batmobile Car Designer, George Barris!

Stephen Meets Batman, Robin, & Catwoman Too!

Our friend Stephen just got back from Wizard World Chicago 2010 & sent us these totally wonderful pics. Guess who he got to meet? He met Adam West ( 1966 Batman ), Burt Ward ( Robin, The Boy Wonder ), and Julie Newmar ( Catwoman )...all on the same day!! Oh man, I'm jealous...JEALOUS!! But I'm happy for him, it must have been totally super-cool to visit with the actors from the '66 BATMAN TV Show. Plus, the photos came out really good. Thanks for sending them Stephen. Yeah, I'm still jealous.

Batman's Adam West & Julie Newmar to Appear at Wizard World Philadelphia!

The Wizard World Comic Convention is coming to Philly from June 11th to the 13th, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. The reason I mention it is because Adam West ( Bruce Wayne / Batman ) & Julie Newmar ( Catwoman ), the actors who played those characters in the 1966 BATMAN TV Show, will be there! Plus, hundreds of comic book artists, writers, pencillers, inkers, creators and directors are also set to attend. Some of them have even worked in Batman comics: Ethan Van Sciver, Mark McKenna, Jim Calafiore, & Arthur Suydam ( all pictured down below ), just to name a few. All VIP Ticket Holders will receive a special limited edition BATMAN ZOMBIE Art Print ( only 600 made & a picture of this print is shown up above ) signed by Arthur Suydam! 1966 BATMAN TV Show Actors To Be at Wizard World Comic Con in April, 2010

OK, I thought I would post this early so people could have enough time to save money or make plans. Batman Fans are in for a rare treat next April in California! Wizard World's "Anaheim Comic Con" will have 4 actors from the 1966 Batman TV Show. Be prepared to meet Adam West, Burt Ward, Yvonne Craig, & Julie Newmar! Of course we all know them as Batman, Robin The Boy Wonder, Batgirl, & Catwoman!! Now, Ward & Craig have come out of retirement to do this show so it might be your last chance to meet them both. Holy Purr-fection, Batman! Catwoman herself, Hollywood icon, actress, and author Julie Newmar, will join us in person as the Paley Center presents this exclusive preview of Julie Newmar: A Life in Motion, a world premiere photographic exhibition at the David W. Streets Fine Art and Photography Gallery in Beverly Hills, featuring the performer as captured by Bert Stern, John Engstead, and Bernard of Hollywood, among others. At the Paley Center event, Ms. Newmar will introduce a special screening of the Biography special, Julie Newmar: The Cat's Meow, and be on hand for a sneak preview of select imagery from the exhibit in the Paley Center's Bell Family Gallery. Julie Newmar: A Life in Motion, will remain on view at the Paley Center until December 6, while the main exhibit is running concurrently at the David W. Streets Gallery. 1966 TV CATWOMAN & NEW BATMAN MOVIES Desktop Wallpapers

Since today is "Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday" I thought, this week, I would post 2 backgrounds with something vintage 60's Batman & something that's modern, but looks vintage. Does that make sense? Please let me explain. The 1st Wallpaper is a wonderful glamor-fashion photo of Julie Newmar as Catwoman from the 1966 TV Series. It's the "vintage one". The 2nd Batman Wallpaper was sent in by our good friend Sean Hartter who made this amazing background that totally looks like an old vintage newspaper advertisement for a "Special Screening of 2 Batman Movies", a Double-Feature! The great thing about this graphic is that, if you're familiar with the "look" of these old ads, then it totally fools you for a minute. Then, you realize, "Hey, This is BATMAN BEGINS & THE DARK KNIGHT! They're very recent movies, ha ha!" I wanna thank Sean for the wonderful artwork, it's great! I also wanna say Hi to Julie Newmar & let her know that I'm sincerely sorry I forgot it was her birthday recently ...Happy Birthday Julie! You know I love ya!

THE THREE FACES OF THE 60's CATWOMAN ( 1966 Batman TV Show ) Magazine Article

A new friend to the Bat-Blog, named Fred Grandinetti, just wrote an article for the "Movie Collector’s World" Magazine website. He did a piece in issue #734, August 2009 ) on the "The Three faces of The 60's Catwoman" from the 1966 Batman TV Series. Of course we all know them as Julie Newmar, Lee Meriwether, & Eartha Kitt. It's a very interesting read & at the end of this post we have a link to it. Also, if you're really into Vintage Movie Posters you might check out a few other features at the site. Basically, the entire web page is totally devoted to movie collectibles, pretty interesting stuff. Warner Bros Animation Celebrates 80 Years of Cartoons with New Billboard!

In Burbank, California, on April 7th, 2009 Warner Brothers Animation held a public event where they presented their brand-new billboard celebrating nearly 80 years of WB cartoons. Celebrity guests included Actor Diedrich Bader, the voice of Batman on Batman: The Brave and The Bold ( Airing Friday Night on the Cartoon Network), and the iconic actress Julie Newmar, who played Catwoman in the 1966 Batman TV Series. The photo up above show them together with the original movie Batmobile. The billboard celebrates both old & new characters. Please be sure to click on the above photos for larger, more detailed, versions. I love the fact that Batman is so prominantly featured in the very center ( Take that, Superman! ). Also, if you study the photo, you'll see a lot of Batman: The Animated Series characters along the bottom: Harley Quinn, The Joker, Two-Face, Catwoman, Clayface, & Mr. Freeze...very cool! Vintage Magazines with a 1966 TV Batman Theme

One area of Batman Collecting that some collectors like to get into are the old Vintage Magazine Covers that feature Batman in some way. Here are 2 really great examples. One cover has a story about "Batman Getting Married" & it's kinda weird. It's the May 1966 issue of Pageant Magazine, which I guess was directed towards marriage-minded women...OUCH! The art direction on this is very provocative. Speaking of "provocative", the next cover features our favorite Catwoman, Julie Newmar...MEOW! It's the June 1964 issue of LOOK Magazine. Wow, it came out 2 years before the Batman TV Show. Anyway, she looks as lovely as ever as she prepares an outdoor meal, ha ha!

Amazing 1966 BATMAN TV SHOW Custom Action Figure Dolls by Darkside Customs

A new friend to the Bat-Blog, named Rick, sent me an e-mail about his cool hobby of making custom dolls & action figures. He calls his company DARKSIDE CUSTOMS & his work is totally amazing! His focus is on the many different characters from the classic 1966 Batman TV Show. The attention to detail is totally insane! Plus, I really enjoy that he made a few of the obscure villains. Now of course he made a Batman & Robin ( Adam West, Burt Ward ) but the rouge's list includes: Catwoman ( Julie Newmar ), The Riddler ( Frank Gorshin ), Bookworm ( Roddy McDowall ), Mr. Freeze ( Otto Preminger ), The Madhatter ( David Wayne ), & Egghead ( Vincent Price ).
