Vintage Photo: 1960's BATMAN COMIC BOOK LOGO T-Shirt

I really love getting cool Batman-related pictures like this! A Bat-Blog Fan named Sam was kind enough to share a vintage family photo he has of him & his younger brother from the 1960's. Of course he is wearing the famous BATMAN COMIC BOOK LOGO T-shirt! How awesome is that?! I told Sam that I had that exact same T-Shirt when I was a little kid ( they must have sold millions of them ). These came out around the time of the 1966 TV Show. Thanks Sam for sending this wonderful personal photo, it's great! If any other readers out there have anything similar to share then please send it in. NEWS STORY: Batman Fan is Still a Bat-Fan 43 Years Later!

This vintage photo is a picture of a very young Batman Fan wearing a Classic Bat-Logo T-Shirt, Circa 1966. His name is John. He is still, to this very day, a Batman Fan! That's AWESOME! Here is his story about the photo:
We all must have had one of these Batman T-shirts! Here I am at the Jersey Shore in 1966...so I`m 4 years old here...WOW! I remember tons of those "See-Thru" Batman kites flying on the beach and most of the games of chance, called "wheels", on the boardwalk were offering plush Batman dolls. What a time!
Ya know, I can totally relate to this except for the "Jersey Shore" part. Ha Ha! I grew-up in Oklahoma. We don't have beaches here! But I have been a fan since 1966 as well. I was born in 1964, making me 2 years old when the TV Show came out. Over the years I got into the comics, other cartoons, movies, toys ( new & vintage ), and today I write a blog about it. Honestly, the best part of doing this blog is getting pictures like this & meeting other Batman Fans. Thanks John for sending it in. I wanna invite any & ALL Bat-Blog Readers or Fans to send in their memories. It can be pictures of yourself wearing Bat-Gear or some vintage toys you liked, your collection today, whatever, just share with us why you like Batman. Thanks.

Rare 1960's BATMAN 45 rpm RECORD ALBUM with Bob Kane

Shown here is an old advertisement for a special BATMAN 45 rpm RECORD that was "supposedly written" by Bob Kane, the "creator" of Batman. This ad appeared in the back of comic books in the late 1960's. Bob Kane wrote the main song "Have Faith in Me". It was performed by Hank Leids & the Bat-Group COURAGE. The song on the B-Side was titled "You've Got Me Crying". As a BONUS, when you bought this record, you also got a 4 X 5 photo of Bob Kane sitting in the original Batmobile Car, signed by him of course! This product was published by Downing Records. Now, I'm wondering... has anyone EVER seen this record or the autographed photo? It's gotta be super-RARE as, in my 20+ years of obsessive bat-collecting, I have NEVER ever seen it! If anyone has a photo of this rare gem I would appreciate you sending a pic of it to share. Remember, the Bat-Blog is ALL ABOUT the love of collecting Batman Memorabilia!!

VINTAGE 60's PHOTO: Two Young Bat-Fans Get To See The Original 1966 Batmobile Car by George Barris!!

Oh man! I opened my e-mail box last night & when I saw this amazing vintage Batman photo I was totally surprised! A loyal Bat-Blog Reader named Michael sent this wonderful family photo & this story, "Love your site, Batman fan from the old ABC television series days, wanted to share a scan of an original Polaroid (one surviving of seven taken) of the George Barris 1966 Batmobile on display at a Ford dealership in Indianapolis. The crowd that turned out was so large the owner of the dealership kept the car back in the service bays as he could not guarantee it's safety ! I'm the little bat-geek in the hat and glasses, the other little boy is my cousin who's dad knew said dealership owner and arranged for us to have the 'private' showing. Enjoy!" Ha Ha, Michael, I bet you totally freaked out when you saw THE car! What a great story & I seriously love the old black & white photo. I really appreciate you sending this because cool stuff like this is extremely RARE & the photo looks great, thanks. I also love the happy facial expressions on you & your cousin's faces. This must have been the greatest day of your childhoods, ha ha! I want to invite ALL Bat-Blog Readers to send us your favorite memories of Batman. There's an "e-mail Button" on the top right-hand side of this blog, click it sometime. Thanks again, Michael!

Photo: I'm BATMAN!! a Cute Kid in Costume Mask

I saw this very funny humor photo of a little kid on Flickr the other day, cracks me up!! He looks so cute & actually he doesn't look too happy about wearing this Batman costume mask. His expression sorta says, "OK, Hurry up & take the picture already!", ha ha! Anyway, it's a great piece of art ( yes, Photography is ART ) & I knew my readers would love it as much as me.

Vintage Photo: BATMAN AND ROBIN HOME-MADE COSTUMES Circa 1972

Another cool Bat-Blog Reader sent in this very awesome vintage family photo yesterday. His name is Brian & he wrote, "I love your blog. You do a great job of covering fun, quirky stuff and all the different eras of Batman. I've been an avid Batman collector for just over 20 years and have been a fan of the character as far back as I can remember. As an adult, I had the opportunity to add a very small thumbprint on the Batman mythos as the illustrator of Batman: Absolution. Absolution was a graphic novel that DC published about 5 years ago or so. At any rate, I've loved seeing the vintage photos of people dressed in Batman costumes. So, I thought I'd send one of my own. Enclosed is a photo of myself as Robin and my buddy Paul as Batman from 1972 in Aberdeen, South Dakota. We look pretty pathetic in our costumes we made ourselves but we sure thought we were "dead ringers" for the Caped Crusaders. :) Keep up the great work on the blog. It's always a nice "pick-me-up" to check each day and see what's new." Ha Ha! Thanks for the kind words Brian & I seriously love this photo! It's kinda funny that you say you guys look pathetic, that's NOT true! Even though they are home-made & not "Hollywood quality" doesn't mean they're not great, they are great!! It looks like a lot of love went into making them & they are pretty accurate too. Looking at you as Robin I gotta crack-up about the "towel around the neck"...we ALL did that as kids, funny! I really love this picture & appreciate you sending it. Thank You. Ha Ha, I know the readers are gonna love it...it's great! By the way, I might have to check out that Batman: Absolution graphic novel you mentioned, sounds cool.

Vintage 1960's Photograph: COOL KIDS IN BATMAN COSTUME!!

Ha Ha, I seriously LOVE to get vintage photos like this! I received an e-mail this morning from a loyal Bat-Blog reader named John. He wrote, "I love your site, check it every day! I thought you might like this picture of my brother and I (I'm on the left). I figure it's from early 1967, based on the snow on the awning, and those masks were merchandised from the Batman TV show. They were black ski-masks with bat-ears and the emblem on the forehead." Wow! Thanks John, this picture is really really great! I love the expression on your faces. You guys are beaming with bat-pride, ha ha! Seriously, this is a very wonderful family photo & I appreciate you sending it. I know my readers are gonna love it! If any other readers have photos to share then please send them in today! ( Our e-mail button is on the left-side of this blog ).

Vintage 1960's BATMAN & ROBIN Carnival Souvenir Photo

Here's a random photo I saw on Flickr the other night & thought it was too good to not share. It's a Vintage 1960's Carnival Souvenir Photo showing a little kid poking his head through a hole to have his picture taken. The background has a painted scene of Batman & Robin. The end result? It made the kid look like Robin....very cool!
