Check out these awesome graphics by our Buddy Dean Fraser. He's the Graphic Artist known for the popular SPRINGFIELD PUNX website where he makes parodies of famous fictional characters... IF, they were on the Simpsons! Oh yeah, it's a great concept & a very funny idea. This week is "BATMAN: ARKHAM CITY WEEK" at the site. So far he's created BATMAN and HARLEY QUINN. But knowing him he will do every single character that exists in that Video Game. At least, we hope so! Here's a link to check it out, just click here, SPRINGFIELD PUNX! ( Thanks for the heads-up Dean ).
I've been in a bad mood all week so I thought it would be a good idea to post a few funny BATMAN humor photos to see if I can cheer-up. OK, that did it : )
We all need a good laugh every now and them so please enjoy these funny Batman-related photos and comic strip, ha ha ha ha! Oh, by the way, the Dog's name is "Buster" & he does look kinda mad, ha!
OK, I have not been able to totally confirm these yet but here's a photo of what might be the 4 special Hallmark Keepsake Ornaments for this year's 2011 San Diego Comic-Con International. The event happens July 21st - 24th, 2011. We have Batman "Descending Upon Gotham", IG-88 & Dengar from Star Wars ( Sold as a Set ), and The Comic Book Guy from The Simpsons. Now, this Batman Keepsake Ornament has been released before in 2009 with the Silver-Age "Blue, Gray, & Yellow" colors ( You can see it by clicking HERE!). It looks like this new one is a color variation, a more Modern Day "Black & Gray" version. For more information about the show please visit Comic-Con.org
To brighten your day I thought I would post a few BATMAN-related Humor photos & Pictures. Now, don't thank me because most of these have been sent in by Bat-Blog Fans who totally ROCK! I've always said that if my blog is any good at all then it's because of the readership. For some reason a lot of people have really embraced the spirit of this site that I have tried to create from the very start & that is that the BAT-BLOG.COM is all about the love of the character & the joys of collecting. So, to everybody who has contributed stuff and to everyone who enjoys the site, Thank You.
While searching "Batman Statues" on eBay the other night I can across this "Homer Batman" one that is both pretty cool & very clever. Now, I don't know if it's an actual licensed product so I'm not going to completely endorse it ( Plus, I don't know anything about the quality of the item ). But I thought I would share it as "Batman News" because this thing is awesome! It's basically a super giant-size bust of Homer Simpson dressed as the Dark Knight! As a side-note, these are the guys who also sell a Complete Set of Life-Size Justice League of America Statues ( We're showing the Batman one as an example ). Oh yeah, they also make one of Mickey Mouse Statue which is obviously NOT Batman-related but I think it's extremely cool!
In the world of serious Toy Collecting there's a small niche of Collectors known as "Bootleggers". They are people who mainly collect knock-off bootleg toys. These toys usually come from China, Hong Kong, & other places, but Mexico is one of the most popular. Here are 2 examples of "Mexican Bootleg": The 1st one totally cracks me up. It's a vinyl figure of both Batman ( sort of a "Dark Knight movie" version ) and Homer Simpson from the Simpsons TV Show cartoon... hilarious! I mean, if you're ripping off one company's trademark then why not do two, ha! Then, there are these 2 Egg-Shaped Bendy Figures of Superman & Batman... crazy! I actually really like this Batman Toy, it looks cool. Now, I gotta ask, do YOU have any weird Bootleg Batman items in your collection? If so, then please send us some pics, thanks.
Here's an interesting piece of Bat-History! This is an outdoor wall mural found in Portland, OR. It was painted back in the 1990's when "Batman the Animated Series" was on FOX TV. They also included Bart Simpson dressed-up as "Bartman" from The Simpsons...very cool!
Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha, whew! OK, we all need a good laugh every now & then so here's a nice sample of Batman Humor to enjoy. The 1st pic is a total parody on the classic "American Gothic" 1930 painting by Grant Wood. I saw the original painting a few years ago at the Art Institute of Chicago, it was amazing. But this version is pretty funny! The next graphic is a scene from the opening title of The Simpsons TV Cartoon where Bart is in school. It looks like he might have been talking trash about Batman, ha! The next picture might need a little explaining. In 1939 ( just before World War II ), the British Government created propaganda posters with the phrase "Keep Calm and Carry On" that citizens in England were to hang in their homes. Now, for whatever reason, they were never distributed but were later found in 2000 & have since become total icons. This graphic is a parody of that poster & totally funny! The last photo shows the Tumbler Batmobile ( The Dark Knight movie version ) racing at a Nascar event. I'm pretty sure that pic is photoshopped. Plus, Batman would totally be in first place, ha!
You gotta love this recent comic book cover for SIMPSONS COMICS # 164 where they feature Homer Simpson totally hogging a 1966 Batmobile Car Vending Machine Ride in front of his local Springfield Grocery Store! The other kids all look pretty mad, ha ha! I also love that one kid is all geeked-out in a Robin, The Boy Wonder costume....funny! So, I decided to show the cover of the comic, all complete, & then use a part of it to make a Batman Desktop Wallpaper.
OK, This video is only kinda-sorta Batman-related ( because it has Adam West ) but basically it's a promo for Fox TV & their Sunday Night Line-Up of wacky animated TV Shows. These commercials have really been cracking me up lately so I thought you guys would like to see one as well. Especially people who don't get that channel, enjoy!
When I was a very young teen DC Comics used to publish these HUGE comic books called Treasury Comics. They were a very large format & I used to totally love them. One of my favorites was called "Muhammad Ali VS Superman". The entire story & artwork was done by Neal Adams so you know it had some amazing art! It was a really great story too. The basic premise was that the leader of an alien race wanted to know who would win if Ali & Superman fought in a boxing match. The alien leader had them both abducted & taken to a planet with a red sun. Because of the "red sun" aspect, Superman didn't have any super-powers at all so then it would be an "equal fight". The story also dealt with a lot of real-life issues like race, tolerance, justice, equality, etc...it was just really really great! In fact, it's now a beloved classic! Well, this post is mainly about the "parody covers" in other magazines. The 1st one is an issue of ESPN Magazine ( art done by Neal Adams ) showing Muhammad Ali boxing Michael Jordan surrounded by the top 100 athletes of the millennium. The 2nd one ( artist unknown by me ) is Homer Simpson VS Bugs Bunny, totally hilarious! OK, I know this post is not really that much "Batman-Related" but Neal Adams was one of the very best artists to ever draw the Dark Knight Caped Crusader so that counts, right?
One of the things that I really love about doing the Bat-Blog is getting e-mails from readers around the world & they send me funny Batman photos & stuff. All of the above are recent examples & they're all very funny in their own way. Like the 1st photo, it's an actual piece of Batman Merchandise that was made a long time ago is really very rare. It's a Comedy Record Album titled THE ADVENTURES OF BATMAN & RUBIN ( The Jewish Boy Wonder ) with Allen & Rossi. You might recognize the bug-eyed Marty Allen. He was a very funny actor. The next item is a graphic that is a total parody of The Dark Knight movie poster with the three faces of Joker, Batman, & Two-Face. Well, except they are characters from The Simpsons, ha ha! The 3rd picture is a fan-favorite of this page where we show a Batman-themed Birthday Cake. But this one is totally THE JOKER, "Why So Serious?". The last photo was sent in by a friend from Europe who saw this store front sign in the UK. A letter fell from the sign of a business & now there's a new name... Batman's Opticians, ha ha! I wanna thank everybody who sent these. You know who you are & I do sincerely appreciate them all...thanks, we all need a good laugh every now & then!
Our friend, an artist named Dean, recently updated his SPRINGFIELD PUNX website with some amazing new artwork that is a parody of THE DARK KNIGHT if they were characters on The Simpsons Animated TV Cartoon! His appropriation of the "Simpson-Style" is dead-on, making these picture really funny & great art at the same time! The large photo down below is a special HEATH LEDGER "WHY SO SERIOUS JOKER" DESKTOP WALLPAPER. You might have remembered, in a previous post, when Dean submitted some of these in the "1966 TV Show-Style" awhile back. Check the BAT-BLOG ARCHIVES for those.
A friend of mine sent this hilarious picture because she knew my readers would love it. It is pretty neat ( Thanks, Debra ). It shows the actual Batman "movie scenes" that were parodied on The Simpsons. That TV show is famous for making "Pop Culture references". On the left is the scene from the cartoon & on the right is the "moment" it is making fun of. Most of them are from the classic 1989 Batman Movie but the last one is the 1966 Batman TV Show where they hit the Bat-Poles to go to the Batcave. You might have to click on the photo up above for a larger, more readable, version but it's really worth it... very funny!
A friend sent this link ( Thanks Dave ) to an amazing commercial artist's website where he does well-known people rendered in the art style of characters from the Simpsons. It's called SPRINGFIELD PUNX! He's done a ton of famous people like Napoleon Dynomite, Steven Colbert, Jay Leno, NEO from The Matrix, Back To The Future, Pee Wee Herman, Heroes TV Show, & many many more! Our favorites are the actors from the 1966 Batman TV Show! Look at these of Batman ( Adam West ), Robin ( Burt Ward ), Batgirl ( Yvonne Craig ), Catwoman ( Julie Newmar ), The Joker ( Cesar Romero), The Riddler ( Frank Gorshin ), & The Penguin ( Burgess Meredeth )....AMAZING!! Here's a link button to check out more of his great artwork:
A loyal BAT-BLOG reader sent this photo in and upon opening that e-mail I started to totally crack up, ha ha ha! Here's a Set of Homer & Bart Simpson Action Figures customized to look like Batman & Robin. We think they are extremely well-done, very funny, and look super cool. Thanks Randy, ha ha ha! On a side note, We all can't wait until that new Simpsons Movie comes out. So far the trailers have been pretty funny!
