Vintage Batman Collectibles - Playing Cards from Argentina

I have a friend named Doug who sent us these 2 amazing pics of some Vintage BATMAN Playing Cards that have totally wonderful graphics. In fact I think most of the comic book-style artwork was done by Jose Luis Garcia Lopez, a Bat-Fan Favorite ( Be sure to click on the 2nd pic to enjoy the art ). They were made in 1991 by a company called CROMY & they were made for countries like Argentina. So, they're kinda hard to find here in the USA. Thanks Doug, these are great!

New BATMAN CLOTHING For Children To Look For at Wal-Mart

I stay awake at night tossing & turning because I worry if Wal-Mart is making enough money. So, I decided to do this post to help them out, ha ha! No, not really, actually our good friend THE BATFAN recently went on a wacky crazy shopping spree & found a lot of very cool Batman merchandise he wanted to share. Now, he mostly buys toys & other cool bat-collectibles, but when he came across these kid's clothes with these amazing Batman graphics, he HAD to get them! What you see here is an almost complete outfit ( at least for the Summer Swimming Pool ). Here's a Batman Baseball Cap & Swim Trunks. They both feature vintage 1980's comic book artwork by Jose Luis Garcia Lopez! Anybody familiar with this artist knows how good his stuff is. I like the hat but the graphics on the shorts are really really great! Too bad they're only children-sized or else I would buy a pair for myself. I wanna thank BATFAN for shooting these pics & also invite other readers to send in theirs. Have YOU found any cool brand-new Batman items recently? If so then please feel free to send us some photos, or if you can't then just let us know the "what & where", thanks!

You Don't Have To Be Batman To Save Lives

Back in 1989, to capitalize on the popularity of the Tim Burton BATMAN Movie, the New York Blood Center ran a promotion called "You Don't Have To Be Batman To Save Lives". Basically it was a major blood drive where they used the Caped Crusader as a theme. It was pretty successful. Shown here are 2 pieces of memorabilia from that event. The first photo is a T-Shirt & the 2nd one is a small advertising poster. It's cool they didn't use the same exact graphic. Plus, it's the comic book-style artwork & not the movie ( but "movie images" would have been great too! ). Now, it's kinda hard for me to tell but I'm guessing that the art was drawn by either Jose Luis Garcia Lopez or Dick Giordano! If anyone knows exactly please let me know. Either way, it's a very cool part of Bat-History!

Original Art - BATMAN CONFIDENTIAL #28 Comic Book Cover By Jose Luis Garcia Lopez

I totally love Original Comic Book Art & if I could afford it I would totally collect it. I have a few pieces of art but nothing really Batman-related. Well, I did meet Art Baltazar recently & got an "Adam West Batman" sketch from him. So, OK, maybe 1 item. But shown here is an amazing piece of art that I would totally love to have. This is the original cover art for BATMAN CONFIDENTIAL # 28. It's done by no other than Jose Luis Garcia Lopez, a legend in the industry. It features the Riddler as the main villain & the composition is really striking. Be sure to click on the picture of the artwork for a larger, more detailed, photo ...it's really really nice! OK, If there are any Bat-Blog Readers out there who specialize in collecting Batman art then please send us some pics. It can be Comic Book Cover Art or Pages, Animation Cels, Production Art, Style Sheets, etc...

Kenner's SUPER POWERS Action Figure Original Production Art

This post is all about continuing the "25th Anniversary Celebration" of Kenner's Super Powers toy line! It came about because our good friend, The BATFAN, sent us some photos of Original DC Comics licensing production art he owns that was used for the Kenner SUPER POWERS figures & vehicles. You might recognize some of it from the toy packaging or promotional material. He says that the picture of The Riddler is the graphic they were gonna use on the Unproduced US-Version Riddler Figure. Now, Like a complete moron, I totally forgot to ask who the comic book artist is ...but I'm making an educated guess that it's either Dick Giordano or Jose Luis Garcia Lopez! Thanks BATFAN, I totally love these great drawings & they do bring back some fond memories.

Brand-New BATMAN School Supplies To Look For!

Right now many parents are trying to get their kids ready for school. That means buying new school supplies. Well, a friend sent me these pics of a few notebooks & folders he found the other night at Wal-Mart. They're made by a company called "Innovative Designs". They have Batman, Joker, Aquaman, Superman, & The Flash on them so some collectors are gonna want them ( I bet I'll buy some eventually ). The weird thing is they use vintage 1980's stock art ( Artist - Jose Luis Garcia Lopez ) & one folder even has the old SUPER POWERS ( Kenner Action Figures ) logo on it! I guess the art director was going for a retro-80's vibe...that's cool. Thank you to the BATFAN for sending the great pics. Readers, be sure to click on the above photos for larger versions.

Cool BATMAN ART Desktop Wallpaper Backgrounds!

I apologize. Today is Thursday & here at the Bat-Blog, every single Wednesday, we ALWAYS post some Free BATMAN Desktop Wallpapers...but yesterday I forgot! OK, I have been kind of distracted lately with other projects so I'm posting 3 new ones to make up for the 2 I didn't post yesterday, ha ha! For the general theme this week I thought I would go with versions of Batman from the 1980's to 1990's. The 1st one uses stock art created by Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez. He's always been a favorite artist of mine & I hope you like his stuff too. He did a lot of work for DC Comics including a large variety of commercial art for actual products & merchandise. The next image is from the now-classic BATMAN BEYOND Animated Series that ran on TV awhile back. That cartoon was a total surprise to me on how great it was! So, obviously, I had to include it here. The last wallpaper is another famous comic book artist, Jim Lee. His artwork sort of defined the character & is always a total delight to see. Now, I'm wondering...is there another Batman Artist who's work you would like to see as a desktop background? Just let me know & I'll see what I can do.

TOON TUMBLERS: DC Comics Comic Book Batman & The Joker Character Glasses

Do you remember when you could hit your favorite fast food restaurant & get a cool Promo Glass...made out of real glass! Well, a few years ago ( around 2004 ) a company called POPFUN MERCHANDISING started to make a new product called TOON TUMBLERS. Basically they're high-quality Character Glasses with awesome graphics. They started out using children's comic book & TV cartoon characters like Underdog, Harvey Comics, Bullwinkle, etc...then they started to do Marvel Comics Superheroes. Once I saw the Marvel characters I knew it wouldn't be long until they started doing DC Comics Comic Book Characters. Well, they have finally arrived! Shown here are Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Firestorm, Sgt. Rock, & The Joker! OK, you know which two I'm gonna have to get ( Batman & Joker, Duh! )! But the ones of Sgt. Rock & Superman are pretty cool too! I like the fact that the Batman Glass uses Neal Adams' artwork from the 1970's & The Joker glass features graphics by Jose Luis Garcia Lopez ( or is it Dick Giordano's art? I get those 2 guys confused sometimes, ha ha ). Here's a link to where you can buy them:

CROMY CLUB : DC Super Heroes Wallpaper Page

I received a message this morning from a Bat-Blog reader who has created a page that is filled with Desktop Wallpapers featuring the art of Jose Luis Garcia Lopez. This is a favorite artist of mine from the 1970's & 80's. He had a very clean unique style, nice sharp lines. He's a really great artist so it was a treat to see work by this guy again. Anyway, the webpage is filled with many different wallpapers featuring different DC characters: Batman, Robin, Batgirl, Superman, Aquaman, The Joker, The Flash, & The Green Arrow. Up above are just a few examples, here's a LINK to see more.
