Andy's BATMAN and JOKER Custom Artwork

Over at the Bat-Blog's Facebook page we recently met a very talented Graphic Artist named Andy Pemberton. He's a huge Batman Fan & since his Son is too he has even made a few items for his him. The first photo shows a nice pair of Custom-Painted Converse Shoes with images of Batman and The Joker from the "Batman: The Brave and The Bold" TV Show. This pair looks incredible & whoever does marketing for that show should sell these, they're great! But Andy's other shoes he has made are nice too. Check out the ones with Mr. Freeze ( Animated Series ) & Poison Ivy ( Comic Book Cover ) graphics... nice! Then, in the last photo, there's a few items Andy made for his Son. It's a Custom 1966 Batmobile-Inspired Bicycle Ride-On!! He also made him a Bike Safety-Helmet that looks like the Cowl worn by Adam West. Plus, there's a great Messenger Bike Bag with graphics from the animated intro to the classic '66 TV Show... AWESOME!! ( Thanks to Andy for sharing these pics & keep up the good work ).

BATMAN SANDALS & FLIP-FLOPS - Just in Time For Summer!

Shown here are some cool pieces of Batman merchandise made by the Havaianas company. Their high-quality footwear are getting pretty popular. Some people call them "Sandals", I've always called then "Flip-Flops", ha! I have displayed the ones here with artwork of the Dark Knight but they also have some with other superhero graphics like Superman, Wonder Woman, & Green Lantern. Also, one pair features The Joker! You can check them out by clicking here:

Vintage BATMAN MEMORBILIA & TOYS From Around The World!

I know that the Bat-Blog has kinda been crazy with the Halloween Holiday lately & we have been neglecting the toy collector aspect of the blog. So, here's a post to make up for it, ha ha! Here's a really nice example of a few pieces of Bat-Memorabilia made in different parts of the world. The 1st example comes from the United Kingdom ( England ) & is the Original Bubble Gum Wax Wrapper for a Set of 1966 Batman Trading Cards. Oh man, I am totally crazy over those vintage-style graphics...awesome! The next item might appear to be French but it's not from France. This is a Batman Board Game from Canada! It was made by Hasbro in 1973. OK, the last 3 pictures are a Set of Japanese Batman Canvas Sneakers. These shoes, of course, are from Japan & came out around 1966. The original shoe box is shown here with the product & it's equally as cool! Again, the graphics are just totally beautiful. Do you live outside the USA? If so then please send us some photos of some fun "Foreign Batman" items you might have. Sharing the love of Batman Toy Collecting is one of the main functions of this fan site. Our e-mail button is always on the top right-hand side of this page, thanks.

Art : THE JOKER & HARLEY QUINN Custom Converse Shoes / Sneakers

A new friend to the Bat-Blog, named KEN, sent us these amazing photos of some custom art he recently did. And when I say amazing I actually mean extremely freakin' cool! Ken took some plain boring white-canvas-style Converse Sneakers & made these shoes true works of ART! One shoe has graphics drawn all over it of The Joker while the other shoe is Harley Quinn. Check out the pics, they're pretty neat, huh. I wanna thank Ken for sending these awesome photos & I know he has an amazing Batman Toy Collection so I hope he sends some pics of those too ( Ken - hint, hint ). But seriously Ken, you did a great job on these! Nice coloring, sharp lines, they're just totally unique & clever! OK, as always I wanna extend an invitation to ALL Bat-Blog Readers who have any kind of info or pics that are Batman-related to please send them to us. Sharing the love of the character, doing fun art, & toy collecting is what this page is all about!

Cool Japanese Batman Toys : Past & Present

As an obsessed Batman Toy Collector I totally love the "foreign stuff". A lot of collectors do because this merchandise, even with eBay's influence, never reaches the USA that often & when you come across it it's always super-RARE. I have always loved Japan & Japanese culture so to see bat-products made there has always been a treat. Here's just a few examples: The 1st photo is one of those wind-up figures of a "Movie Version Batman". From the look of it I would guess it was made during the "Batman Returns" period. I love the goofy look of this figure, it's great! The next item, this wonderful Batmobile Toy Car, came out during the 1992 Batman Returns movie. I love the graphics of the Bat-Signal shining over the skyline of Gotham City on the original box, very cool. The 3rd pic is something that's a little older because it came out during the first 1989 Batman Movie. They really went nuts merchandising that movie & even today there's a ton of products from that era. This wacky toy is a SOUND ARM Costume Piece. It was a bat-gadget thing you wore on your arm & it made a lot of different sounds. I bet it drove parents completely crazy with the bing bing boing boing sound-action, ha ha! The last photo is something that just came out maybe a year or two ago, in other words, it's pretty new. It's a pair of Batman Snow Boots. I always love the little kid's Batman slippers & shoes...they're so cute & great for display. Plus, if you don't buy them brand-new most of the time they're kinda hard to find on the "secondary market". Mainly because children totally wear them out! The graphics on this pair are AWESOME! I guess, as a last thing to say, if ANY Bat-Blog Readers have any photos of "foreign items" ( Both new or Vintage & not just from Japan, but from anywhere ) then please send them in to us. Remember, sharing the love of collecting is what the Bat-Blog is all about!

THE JOKER Munny Figure & Batman / Joker Sneakers by Zac Conley!

I have said many times that if the Bat-Blog is any good at all it's because of the readers. They always send me really great material! Here's the perfect example: The other day I came across this Joker Munny Figure on the internet. I tracked down the artist & told him, "You better send me some pics, ha ha!". Well, graciously, he did. This is Zac Conley's Custom JOKER Munny Figure. It's pretty cool. I love the demonic expression on his face, like he's ready to kill somebody, actually he's kinda scary! Zac also made some Custom Sneakers with a Batman & Joker motif. I thought it was sort-of funny how his photos break down the fact that "this is the right foot & this is the left"...but, that's clever. Anyway, these shoes are too good to wear & should be displayed as ART! Good job Zac & thanks for sending the pics. Now I don't have to come to your house to beat you up!

Tiffany Goes Batty Over Batman Shoes & Slippers!

A new friend to the Bat-Blog, named Tiffany, sent us these fun photos of a few of her favorite Batman items. She explains them better than I do so here's what she said,
| "I love Batman and I recently started reading your blog. I see that you post pictures that people have sent in to you. I thought I'd send in a couple of photos of interesting Batman products I have, too. I know they're not "vintage" items which I believe is the point of your blog, but I thought, if you haven't seen these already, that they'd be of interest to you and/or your Batman fans, anyway. One of the photos is some Batman slippers I bought off Ebay. They're actually meant for kids, but they fit me just right. They were only $10 (including the shipping). =] It was meant to be. My friends make fun of me 'cause it looks like Batman is eating my foot, but I still think they're awesome. =] Haha. The other photos are slip ons from Japan. My boyfriend had a friend who was studying/working abroad in Japan and he bought us a couple pairs. I've worn them in since these pictures were taken. It actually makes me really sad because they're only sold in Japan. I wish I had more because these are all beat up now." |
Thanks Tiffany. Great story & cool photos, that's sweet. Thanks for sharing. Yes, we try to cover the "Vintage Memorabilia" but as a crazy Batman toy collector I also love the new stuff. The shoes from Japan are awesome ( nice graphics ) & the way the Batman Slippers are "eating your feet" are pretty funny!

NEW BATMAN SNEAKERS: Limited Editon DC Super Heroes Shoes

New Batman Sneakers! ACI International has just recently created three different styles, each featuring one of three DC Comics characters - Superman, Batman, and The Joker. The shoes retail for $110 per pair. Not too bad a price for designer sneakers. The shoe I am focusing on here, in this post, is the Batman Sneaker. ( I'll have some nice sharp photos of The Joker shoes in another post ). It will be limited to only 1,939 pairs ( that number is special because it's the year of the very first appearance of the character - 1939 ). The quality of the design looks pretty excellent. Shoe companies usually go kinda overboard when they design "comic book character" shoes but these are tastefully done. The shoe is all black with some gray & yellow accents. The rubber sole is bright yellow which is kinda cool. On the tongue is a yelow label with nice Batman artwork. The sides of the shoe show a picture of Batman with Gotham City in the background. There is also some black leather with the word "Batman" embossed in a repeated pattern. On the backs of the shoe the names "Bruce" & "Wayne" are on each individual shoe so when you look at them it reads, "Bruce Wayne". That's actually kinda clever. There is also a black "Bat-Logo" stitched on the side, near the front. Even the shoe box is well designed as the lid features original art by Jim Lee.

Designer Sneakers : BATMAN SHOES By Ubiq Fatima of Japan

While using a Japanese Search Engine I found these NEW Batman "Designer" Sneakers by a company called UBIQ FATIMA. They feature Golden Age graphics of 1940's Batman Newspaper Comic Strips. They are only available in Japan & maybe some super-exclusive stores in the US. The only price quote I was able to find is the Japanese price of 16,800 Yen. Which, I think, is about $146.50 US Dollars. There are 2 choices: One is colored with bright primary colors and the other is pure black & white. I love the shoe box design & the use of the vintage-style Batman comic book logo on the back of the shoe is really cool! I'm too poor to afford these right now so if any Bat-Blog members are super-rich ( & feeling generous ) you can buy me a pair of these cool shoes, ha ha! No, seriously, just ask for my address.
