THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS - New Images From The DC Universe Animated Film
I've been meaning to post these new photos for a few days but have been inundated with a lot of other things, sorry! Anyways - HERE WE GO! Here are some new sneak-peek pics of the art direction for the next DC Universe Animated Film DVD, "THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS".
Of course we're talking about the Classic 1986 Frank Miller Graphic Novel and I'm loving the images of Carrie Kelley ( 13 Year Old Girl Robin ). OK, The Mutants are pretty cool to see too!

1966 BATMAN TV SHOW - New Toys and Products Coming Soon!
Yesterday the internet was all buzzing about the news from Variety Magazine's website that final agreements between Warner Bros. and Twentieth Century Fox ( Owners of the 1966 BATMAN TV Show ) have finally worked out their grievances and so now we can look forward to brand-new Product Lines featuring Toys and Merchandise related to the Classic 60's TV Series!
The list of possible character so far looks like Adam West (Batman), Burt Ward (Robin The Boy Wonder), Yvonne Craig (Batgirl), Julie Newmar (Catwoman), Cesar Romero (The Joker), Frank Gorshin (Riddler), Burgess Meredith (The Penguin) and more!
We should have more news next week when Warner Bros. Consumer Products sets up a booth at the Licensing Expo in Las Vegas, NV ( June 12th-14th, 2012 ).
Also, awhile back, Adam West, in a LIVE Interview, announced that there are guaranteed plans for them coming out with Complete Seasons of the Classic 1966 BATMAN TV Series on DVD & Blu-Ray. We're totally excited about this new development so please be sure to stay tuned to the BAT-BLOG.COM for more news!

THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS - Peter Weller Announced as Voice of Bruce Wayne / Batman in the New Animated Movie!
DC Entertainment just announced recently that Actor Peter Weller will play the voice of "Bruce Wayne/Batman" in the next DC Animated Film, THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS. ( Please be sure to check out the post we did yesterday that featured more news & awesome sneak-peek photos ). OK, some of you might be thinking, "Hey, I know that name". Yes you do, this is the guy who played "Robocop" many years ago, a cult-movie favorite!
It's also kinda weird that Frank Miller wrote the original ROBOCOP script AND this animation is based on his classic Batman Graphic Novel. Anyways, I like this Actor a lot and he has a great voice. I think he'll do a pretty good job, we'll have to wait and see.

'Rise of the Planet of the Apes' (2011) BLU-Ray Special Features Review
The film Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011) has some amazing concept art attached to it, so I was really looking forward to the Blu-Ray special features. I was pretty disappointed.
The Details
Actors: James Franco, Andy Serkis, Freida Pinto
Directors: Rupert Wyatt
Format: AC-3, Color, Dolby, DTS Surround Sound, Dubbed, Subtitled, Widescreen
Language: English
Subtitles: English, Spanish
Region: Region A/1 (Read more about DVD/Blu-ray formats.)
Aspect Ratio: 2.35:1
Number of discs: 2
Rated: PG-13 (Parental Guidance Suggested)
Studio: 20th Century Fox
DVD Release Date: December 13, 2011
Run Time: 105 minutes
Special Features
Disc 1: Theatrical Feature Blu-ray
The images are high quality, but sparse. Maybe less than twenty. You can get better concept art.from google. I'm pretty sure some of them are reference photographs, unless they have an incredibly high resolution.
Here's the breakdown:
Artist credits: No
Still images: Yes
Resolution: High
Number of images: Low (less than 20)
Zoom: No
So, the disc gets three out of a possible five stars.
Buy it here at amazon.

The Review
The sections on how they did the special effects are pretty cool. The "Scene Breakdown" and "The Genius of Andy Serkis" were really good at explaining how they did the motion capture. It's pretty jarring to watch men act like apes sitting in cages. Pretty cool.
The key section for me is the "Conceptual Art Gallery". The interface has a series of images divided into seven main ape characters (Rocket, Maurice, Koba, Caesar, Bright Eyes, Buck and Lucky) from the film. You click on the character to see the artwork.

JUSTICE LEAGUE DOOM DVD Cover Art - DC Universe Original Animated Movie

Well, we finally got a photo of the JUSTICE LEAGUE: DOOM DVD Cover Art & here it is! The cool thing is that "Batman" is the main featured character ( He deserves it, because he's the coolest, ha! ). This movie is an adaptation of Mark Waid’s "Tower of Babel" story-arc that was seen in older comic book issues of Justice League of America.
The basic story is Batman has been keeping secrets about how to destroy each JLA member just in case one ever goes rogue! The information is stored on his Bat-Computer in the Batcave. Batman feels pretty secure about nobody being able to get this data but R'as Al Ghul steals it & then the real crisis really gets going!
The list of Voice Actors includes Tim Daly, Kevin Conroy, Nathan Fillion, Michael Rosenbaum, and Susan Eisenberg, among others. Look for it to hit retail stores around early 2012.

The 1st one features CATWOMAN in a scene from the special "Feature Short" that is an added feature of the DVD. BATMAN YEAR ONE - PLAYBOY Movie Promo Video Clip
Here's the latest Promo Video Clip from Warner Bros for the New BATMAN: YEAR ONE DVD Animated Movie. They call it the "Playboy" Clip because it shows an arrogant-acting Bruce Wayne being questioned by GCPD Police Officer Jim Gordon. I also like how they're presenting Alfred the Butler in this film, very cool.

BATMAN YEAR ONE - New Movie Trailer Video & Wallpaper Backgrounds

Here at the BAT-BLOG.COM we're starting to get pretty excited about the new BATMAN: YEAR ONE Animated Film DVD being released next week ( Oct. 18th )! So, to celebrate, we came up with TWO Batman Desktop Backgrounds we made from recent publicity photos. Their focus is on the main 2 characters, The Dark Knight & Jim Gordon. ( I always thought that "Batman Year One" was more of a story about Gordon's rise in the GCPD than actually Batman's origin ). Then, for your viewing pleasure, is the latest MOVIE TRAILER Video Clip... enjoy!

NEW BATMAN DVD REVIEW - THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD Season Two, Part One ( 2-Disc Set )

I just got done watching the latest "BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD" TV Cartoon DVD. It's the new "SEASON TWO, PART ONE" 2-Disc Set. Oh man, it was a total blast to watch! I think "Season Two" was when this show was really hitting it's stride. Plus, this DVD took forever to watch, almost 4 hours! Which is a point I'd like to make: Considering that you get 273 minutes of entertainment for less than the price of a regular movie, then it's still a pretty good value. But, back to the greatness of this product, hee hee! It contains some of the best episodes so far. Here's a list, check it out:
Disc 1
- Death Race To Oblivion!
- Long Arm Of The Law!
- Revenge of the Reach!
- Aquaman's Outrageous Adventure!
- The Golden Age of Justice!
- Sidekicks Assemble!
- Clash of the Metal Men!
- A Bat Divided!
- The Super-Batman of Planet X!
- The Power of Shazam!
- Chill of The Night!
- Gorillas in Our Mist!
