This post was created to share some good news about our Friend Kevin Scalzo. Recently he started a new series of Pop Art Paintings titled, "Weirdos, Creeps, and Dweebs!" The artwork has some really great style and I have to admit that the characters do look pretty creepy ( I mean that in a GOOD way, ha! ). IT'S NOT A DOLL, IT'S AN ACTION FIGURE! Art Gallery Show

There's a pretty cool art show event-thing going on at the BEAR & BIRD BOUTIQUE + GALLERY in Lauderhill, Florida that a lot of Bat-Blog readers might like to see. In fact, the show ends on July 31st so, you have until the end of this month to see it. It has a "Love of Vintage Toys" theme & a few pieces are even Batman-related. Basically, it's a group show with many artists contributing artwork & photography that is inspired by cherished toys from their childhood. They all pay homage to different action figure toy lines: You have Mego's Batman, Kenner's Star Wars, Mattel's He-Man Master of The Universe, Lego Characters, & much much more! A lot of the artwork is really amazing! Here in this post we feature the 2 Batman-inspired ones. The 1st one was done by the curator of the show & it's actually an original comic book ad for the Magnetic Batman figure by Mego, framed. She also displays the actual figure right above it...cool! The next one is an acrylic painting of a Batman String Puppet flopping around. It was masterfully done by Lora Zombie. There are too many artists & pieces of art to mention here but the flyer ( last photo ) shows all of their names. Plus, at the end of this post is a really really great video of the Art Gallery Installation & you can see all the artwork very well. For more information be sure to visit BEARANDBIRD.COM plus, if you would like to see all the art in sharp detail, be sure to visit their online Flickr gallery by clicking HERE!

Leon's 1966 BATMAN TV SHOW HOMAGE Pop Art Paintings!

OK, Does everybody remember when we showed our friend Leon's amazing 1966 Batman Bat-Suit Costume he made & the cool manikin he found to display it? He even went on to create a wall mural as a background for the thing, it's really cool! Well, it looks like he hasn't stopped there! Shown here are 2 extremely awesome POP ART Paintings that have been done with imagery from the classic 60's TV Series. One of them looks like a color photo showing Adam West & Burt Ward in costume on the set. The 2nd one is an image from the animated intro to the TV show. They're both really well done. Thanks Leon for keeping us up to date on this project, you guys are doing super-great stuff here!
(( Important Side Note: The Bat-Blog made the 1st image of Batman & Robin as a Desktop Wallpaper Background, enjoy! ))

Johnny Romeo's BATMAN POP ART Acrylic & Oil Paintings

I just discovered a Pop Artist in Australia who, right now, is totally inspired by Batman & other comic book imagery. His name is Johnny Romeo. He's mainly a painter but also makes prints & books. Judging his artwork you can easily see that he is inspired by both Jean Michel Basquiat & Andy Warhol. But I do have to admit that he's a great colorist. Plus these paintings do look pretty cool! If you're interested in seeing more of his artwork you can do so by clicking HERE! There you will find information to his current art openings in & around Australia. Also, down below is the promo video for his current United Galleries Art Show with the "BATMAN LANE SERIES" Paintings.

OK, I hope I don't need to explain who Pablo Picasso is, ha ha! But he was an artist who helped define Modern Art & one of his most popular styles was cubism. Well, the designers at WONDER BROS recently created many Superhero Paintings in the Picasso-Style & they're totally AWESOME! In fact, the name of the Gallery is "Artwork So Awesome It will Melt Your Face Off", ha ha! Now because the Bat-Blog is all Batman-related I only posted the ones of Batman & The Joker but if you visit their website you can see ones of Spiderman, Wolverine, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Silver Surfer, Superman, Green Lantern, Captain America, & many many more! They are all extremely funny & very well-executed...To see them all, just click HERE!

It's a Pop Art Painting with a scene showing a Batman Comic Book & all the fixings for a Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwich ( click on it for a larger picture with more detail ). It's done in a sort of photo-realistic style & is totally awesome! Doug is really talented. He sort of bounces around in styles, mainly Western Art & Pop. BATMAN FAN? Check Out The Artwork of Tommy Kane!

My friends & family know that, besides being a crazy Batman Fan, I also really love ART. I mean, just this weekend I went to 3 art gallery openings, ha ha. So, I wanted to share this artwork from an artist I really like. His name is Tommy Kane. He's an illustrator & painter. Shown here are just a few examples of his fine art. The first one is a large canvas with the image of Adam West as Batman from the classic 1966 TV Guide cover, very cool! POW! The 2nd painting shows Robin, The Boy Wonder ( Burt Ward ). He also does some smaller pieces on cardboard which is a really neat material to use. This example shows Batgirl. He makes a lot of pop culture references in his work. You can see Roy Rogers, Astroboy, The Lone Ranger, Pee Wee Herman, Green Hornet & Kato, among others. Here's a link to check out his page. But, please be sure to bookmark the Bat-Blog before ya go! Also, Be sure to check out the Bat-Blog ARCHIVES for many more examples of Batman-Inspired ART!

EMMA's PAINTINGS: Another Batman-Inspired Artist!

I just made another friend on MySpace who is an artist that really seems to be inspired by Batman! Her name is Emma & she lives in the UK ( Lucky! ). Here are just a few examples of her work. The 1st one is the classic Adam West 1966 TV Guide Cover done on a large canvas. This one is my favorite! The 2nd one is sort of a portrait of Batman but it's main focus is the Bat-Symbol Logo on his chest, a simple design but kinda clever too. The last one uses a promo-shot from the Batman Begins movie & shows Christian Bale in his Bat-Suit looking kinda mean & menacing. You know he's about to kick some ass! She has a lot more work at her MySpace page you might check out. Just visit her site & click on PICS under her profile picture. I've included a link button down below, the colorful icon. Note: You might have to be a MySpace member to view her PICS.

Pop Artist Stephen Jones Gets Inspiration From Vintage Batman!

A friend at MySpace sent me a link to an artist who gets a lot of inspiration from Batman, especially the golden & silver age era. His name is Stephen Jones & his stuff is pretty cool. His most recent painting is an image taken from the famous Adam West LIFE Magazine cover from 1966. Another piece of art is a Circle Painting ( I think that's called "Tondo" in the art galleries ) with a graphic that looks a lot like Batman & Robin artwork by the Golden Age Comic Book Artist Dick Sprang. The last one, is easy to guess, was totally inspired by the 1966 TV Show ( That one is my favorite! ). Down below is a link where you can check out more of his art. If there are ANY readers who have Batman-related art to share then please send us some links or photos. Also, please leave some comments down below & let us know what you think of his pop art...thanks!

Fine Art: BATMAN AND ROBIN Pop Art Painting By Ron English!

In 2 previous posts ( Check the Bat-Blog Archives, on lower left-side of page ) I showed a few examples of art paintings done by one of my favorite modern-day pop artists, Ron English. Well, here's another example: It's Batman & Robin as little kids, ha ha! A famous thing that Ron English does is uses his own children to model for him. He dresses them up like Batman, Robin, clowns, cowboys, & even the rock band KISS. He takes some photos & then uses them for reference in his paintings, great stuff!! Please indulge me sometime & check out his website. There's some really great artwork to enjoy, you'll be glad you did!
