New Eaglemoss BATMAN AUTOMOBILIA Die-Cast Batmobile Series

Eaglemoss Collections, the UK company that brought us the cool "DC Superhero Figurines", is now coming out with a new collection of Batmobiles! These new cars are die-cast, 1:43 Scale, & come inside a presentation case that has a 3D lenticular backdrop. Also, each car comes with a collectible 12-page magazine that gives the history of the vehicle. The 1st car in the BATMAN AUTOMOBILIA Series will be the Batmobile from the 1989 Batman Movie! Then, they're making the 1966 Batmobile from the Classic TV Show!

Here's a list of the five cars in the 1st wave:
  1. 1989 Batman Movie
  2. 1966 Batman TV Show
  3. 2005 Batman Begins Movie
  4. 2009 Comic Book Version
  5. 1944 Comics Version

They plan on continuing the collection & those cars, in the 2nd wave, will include: 1992 The Animated Series, 1985 Comic Book Version, 1939 Comics, 1995 Comics, & 2008 The Dark Knight Movie Bat-Pod!

Oh man, these sound really great! Plus, the production photos of the 1st five cars so far look really really good, I'm totally excited!! Now the bad news: I gotta say that these cars will take a little trouble to find in the US. You see, they're made in the UK exclusively for the European Market & will only be made available in the USA through special outlets. One rumor I've heard is that they might be distributed through Diamond Distributors, they supply American Comic Book Stores with product. So, you might check one of those. Another source will be a few online stores that do ship in the US. Once I get that list compiled I will be doing another post here so be sure to stay tuned to the Bat-Blog!

Video: Halloween BATMAN: THE DARK KNIGHT Movie Theme Display 2009

Look at how I decorated for Halloween this year! The neighborhood kids really loved it. No, it's not mine, just kidding, ha ha! This is the work of an extremely creative guy named Jerjod. It took him a whole year to construct all this stuff for his 2009 Halloween Batman Display. In the driveway is a Tumbler Batmobile Replica Car he made. He also made a Life-Size Mechanical Manikin of Batman in costume that moved around. There were Battery Controlled "Wing-Flapping Bats" that hung from the trees & he even had a HUGE Bat-Symbol light shining on his house that took up the entire garage-area section!! WOW! Extremely impressive!! If you wanna learn how he built all this stuff, & try to do it yourself, then be sure to visit the INSTRUCTABLES website by clicking HERE!

BATMAN Hallmark Stores 2009 Christmas Ornament - Descending Upon Gotham

For 2009 Hallmark is going to have another Batman-themed Christmas ornament this year & it looks pretty cool! The thing I like about it is that it is the "Silver Age Comic Book" version with the yellow-oval bat-symbol logo on the chest. It measures about 4 1/2" tall & will have a retail price of $15.00. We reported on this thing awhile back but I recently found a way better picture of it. Plus, it's closer to the time when it will actually be in stores so I thought I would do a re-post to remind everybody. So...keep an eye out for it on your next trip!

Video: PENGUIN COSPLAY From Batman Returns Movie

Recently at the Yamato Cosplay Cup in Brazil ( 2009 ) a fan dressed up as the Penguin ( Danny Devito version from the 1992 BATMAN RETURNS movie ). He did a small musical number on stage. It's kind of surreal to watch but the costume is actually very good, the make-up too. One thing I learned while reading about this was that this character is known as "Pinguim" in Brazil...very cool!

Video: SUPER CAPERS Movie With ADAM WEST & 1966 Batmobile Car

In 2009, Ray Griggs wrote & produced a superhero-parody movie called SUPER CAPERS. The basic story is about a good guy who with no powers joins a superhero team with no clue against a bad guy with no shame. The main character wants to be a hero very badly. But he has NO powers so he is sent to a special school to learn to be a superhero. To get to the school he hires a Taxi Driver to take him, who happens to be Adam West, & the taxi is a 1966 Batmobile Replica Car! To be honest, I have not seen the film yet but it is quickly becoming a cult favorite. I might have to rent it on my next video store trip. The movie has a pretty cool promotional website worth checking out, just click HERE!

Bat-Blog's BATMAN Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday!

OK, I gotta let new readers know that every single Wednesday here at the Bat-Blog is "Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday" & we always post a few Batman-themed Desktop Backgrounds for you to enjoy! This week I thought I would go with a "Batmobile Car Theme". The 1st one is an extremely Vintage Batmobile from the Golden Age of Batman comics. In fact, it's almost just a regular car, ha ha! But it's a great example of The Dark Knight's rich history & was featured in Detective Comics # 37. Now, for the 2nd one, I used a graphic image from the current modern-day BATMAN AND ROBIN # 1 Comic Book Issue. The artwork here was done by Frank Quitely and it's what fans are calling "The Flying Batmobile". This is like one of the most recent new Batmobiles. In this image they are chasing a villain known as "The Toad", a great character!

BATMAN: ARKHAM ASYLUM Video Game at the London MCM Expo 2009

Recently, at the London MCM Expo 2009 ( Movie Comic Media ), the video games company Eidos had a special event to hype the new BATMAN: ARKHAM ASYLUM video game. Here are some official photos showing a few Bat-Fans who were there dressed up as Batman, Batgirl, The Riddler, Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, & the Joker! Well, it the Nurse Joker ( Heath Ledger version ) from The Dark Knight movie...that's kinda weird, ha ha! But the costume is great! In fact, ALL the superhero & villain costumes are totally wonderful! Looks like it was a fun place to be. I love the UK but have never been. I might have to check out this comic book convention someday.

Remember: MEGO MEET 2009 This Weekend!

OK, This is just friendly reminder that MEGO MEET 2009 is this weekend, June 5th & 6th at The Kruger Street Toy & Train Museum in Wheeling, West Virginia. MegoMeet is a chance for the Mego toy collectors community to get together in person to trade and buy parts and action figures, sit in on sessions designed to educate and answer questions about the Mego Corporation and the awesome toys they made. But, more than anything, it's a chance to hook up with friends and fellow collectors live and in person, instead of over the Internet. The 2 pictures of rare toys shown here are from last year's event. This is a pretty big event so plan on being there all day. For more information be sure to visit their official website at megomeet.com.

THE DARK KNIGHT Batman Movie 2010 Calendar is Avaliable!

A friend of mine the other day asked me if they made a 2009 Calendar for THE DARK KNIGHT Batman Movie, that he would like to get one. I told him, "Yeah, of course, they made a few different sizes: a Regular-Size Wall Calendar, then a Larger One, & even a Small Mini-Version. I reported it on the Bat-Blog here a long time ago, didn't you read it?!" I was sort of pulling his chain because I know he does not read the site daily like most readers do & he probably missed it. Anyway, I told him about the website where you can buy them because they're kinda hard to find in most stores ( they sold out ). Well, he called me back & was sort of freaking out. While laughing he said, "They already have the 2010 DARK KNIGHT Wall Calendar available!". Now, to offer a calendar for next year is kinda weird, especially this far in advance. But what is also really strange is "why?". Why make a product for this movie way after it's not in theaters anymore? It must be because the movie is so hugely popular. I mean, think about the marketing of most Batman movies. While it is out they manufacture every conceivable product there is ( Happy Meal Toys, Toothpaste, Underwear, Cereal, Action Figures, T-Shirts, Posters, etc...) Then, as soon as the movie is over, they stop & allow the products to die out. Well, now they are offering a Batman Calendar...for NEXT year, ha ha! So, because it is current "Batman Product News" I thought I would post it here & down below is a link button if ya want to get it. The graphics do look pretty cool so I might order one for my friend. Ya know, as an inside joke, ha ha!

New For 2009: Hot Wheels 1966 Batmobile Car By Mattel

There's gonna be a few new variations on the Hot Wheels 1966 Batmobile Car that has caught a lot of people by surprise. It looks like Mattel will create a reissue of the '66 Batmobile they made last year ( what a surprise, ha ha! ) for 2009. This new version will sport some new tires on the car & the header card will have 2 variations: one has a plain background with concept art of the Batmobile ( nice! ) & the other one is identical but has some "snowflake" graphics on it. These have already started to surface on eBay so I guess they're out now. Remember, be patient & look for these in stores. Don't pay greedy scalper prices! I remember when the 1st original version came out people were paying $100.00+ for these babies. I couldn't believe it! Go look on there now, you can buy them for 99 cents, ha ha!
