BATMAN NEWS - Christain Bale Visits Memorial Site in Aurora, Colorado

The BAT-BLOG reported the other day about Christian Bale's visit to a Colorado Hospital where he met a few of the people who were injured during the recent Aurora Movie Theater Tragedy. Mr. Bale had done this on his own & was not representing Warner Bros or anybody else, except himself. WOW! What an extremely generous & cool thing to do.

Well, he also made a short appearance at the Memorial Site. He placed some flowers there and greeted a few family members to give his condolences. Again, a very classy thing to do. We're all really proud to be Batman Fans right now and I also know that we will all get over this event someday. It might take time, but like they say, "Time Heals". Thank you Mr. Bale.

BATMAN Collector Reference Photos - Vintage 1960's Toys and Books

One of the main functions of the Bat-Blog is to celebrate the joy of collecting Batman toys and memorabilia, both old & new. So, it was really great to get an email from a reader named Robson who wanted to share a few pieces from his Vintage BATMAN Toy Collection. Shown here is the 1960's Aurora Batman Model Kit, a couple of 1966 Coloring Books, and a 1966 Twistable Batman made by Marx Toys. The Coloring Books are kinda common but I have always loved the graphics on them. The Marx Figure is so extremely RARE that it's almost what Vintage Toy Collectors call a "Museum Piece". ( One last thing, I made the photo of the Model Kit into a BATMAN Wallpaper Background you can use to brighten your desktop - Click on it to see it's full-beauty! ). Robson, Thank you for sharing these cool pics. If any other Bat-Fans out there who have any pieces they would like to share then please send us some photos too!

Beautiful BOX ART for the 1967 Aurora Batman TV Batcycle Model Kit

I received a very excellent photo in my e-mail box this morning from our friend Ed ( Be sure to click on the picture up above for a larger, more detailed, photo ). He wrote, "It's the box art for the 1967 Aurora Batcycle Model Kit. This comes courtesy of the Box-Art Den Yahoo Group. The Group owners take scans of plastic model boxes, regardless of condition, and restores the artwork. Once a week they offer high resolution scans for free download, or you can purchase high resolution prints from them of restored box art. The Batcycle was this week's offering." WOW! Thanks Ed, this artwork is completely beautiful!! Seriously, I love the Vintage Graphics. If any readers would like to join the group you can CLICK HERE for more details!

Every Bat-Blog reader knows that on Wednesday we post 2 brand new Batman Desktop Wallpapers but tonight I need some extra space on my PC so I'm gonna give you not two, but four, Batman Wallpapers! The 1st one is a Golden Age image of Batman & Robin in a spotlight originally drawn by Jack Burnley, a Classic! I love the 2nd one. This is one of those vending machine rides you see outside grocery stores but I have never never never seen this one before! It's the Batmobile Car from the BATMAN FOREVER Movie!! The 3rd one is well known among Aurora Model Kit collectors. It's the 1960's Burry's Cookie Store Display with an ad for the Vintage Aurora 1966 Batmobile Model Kit...sweet! The last one is a wallpaper from the Official DC Comics website. Please feel free to use them in a MySpace Layout or just to brighten your desktop...enjoy!

Vintage 1966 Batmobile HO Scale Slot Car By Aurora & Brand-New 60's Version By Playing Mantis

OK, Here's some photos you can use to compare the old Vintage 60's Thunderjet Aurora HO Scale Slot Car of the 1966 Batmobile ( TV Show ) with the brand-new version by Playing Mantis. About a year or two ago a company called Playing Mantis ( they make the new Johnny Lightning cars ) made a few different versions of a 1960's style Batmobile slot car. It was a part of their Thunderjet 500 series. They are also HO Scale. These are kinda common on eBay & you can find one "Mint-In-The-Box" for about $15.00 to $20.00. I'm gonna try to win one soon because they're so cool! The blue one sort of reminds me a little of the Superpowers Batmobile that Kenner made in the 1980's. Now, Out of the 2 different colors avaliable which one do you like better? The BLACK one or BLUE one? Please COMMENT below.

Wallpapers: The DARK KNIGHT Batman Costume & Aurora Model Kit of ROBIN, THE BOY WONDER!

I thought these 2 pictures would be a nice set of wallpapers to brighten a desktop background or use in a MySpace page. They each feature BATMAN AND ROBIN!! The 1st one is the official photo of the NEW Batman Costume that will be worn by Christian Bale in the new THE DARK KNIGHT Batman Movie. The 2nd wallpaper graphic was sent in by a cool BAT-BLOG reader & is a sharp photo of the re-issued Aurora ROBIN THE BOY WONDER Model Kit, very well done with a really great paint job! ( Thanks Jeff, for the great pic! )

Vintage Batman Toys: Puzzles

Recently the BAT-BLOG has sort of been bogged down with THE DARK KNIGHT movie news so I thought I would do a traditional posting that is about Vintage Batman Toys. Which, is the main function of this blog! Here's some nice examples of different Batman Puzzles made thru the ages. The 1st one is a 1966 Batman & Penguin Puzzle made by Whitman. The graphics are really wonderful with a cool vintage Batman-Logo. The next picture is one of those Batman "Canister Puzzles" made by APC from 1973. I always thought that the way they sold them in coffee cans was kind of neat. The graphics on this baby were done by the Classic Comic Book Artist Carmine Infantino...nice! The next puzzle is one of my favorites. It was made by Aurora of all companies. They specialized in slot cars & model kits but I guess since they had the rights to use Neal Adams' awesome artwork they went ahead & made this puzzle. The cool thing about this puzzle is that it is super-HUGE & when put together it's almost 9 square feet, GIANT-SIZE, & great for display on the wall!! The last puzzle is a wooden frame tray puzzle made by Playskool. It features the cartoon version of the Batman & Robin movie, very obscure!

1966 Batman BATMOBILE & BATPLANE Aurora Model Kits

Here's a vintage 1960's comic book ad that ran for the Batman 1966 Batmobile & Batplane Aurora Model Kits. We know a lot of BAT-BLOG readers collect models related to Bat-Memorabilia. It's kind of shocking that these sold for only 98¢.

RARE 1966 K and B Batmobile Aurora Slot Car, MIB 1/24 Scale

One of the main things I seriously love about doing the BAT-BLOG is being able to communicate with so many other Batman Fans & Vintage Toy Collectors. For example, this morning I woke up & opened my e-mail there was this mail sent by a reader named Frank. He told me about this MEGA-RARE 1966 K & B Aurora Slot Car he has in his collection. It's "Mint in the Original Box", 1/24th Scale, & he said there are only about 12 known examples of this rare variation in the original box....WOW! Thank You Frank for sending in this great picture, it made my morning! I know our readers are gonna love this photo, I appreciate that! If any other readers have some cool Bat-Photos to share then please do. The love of Rare Vintage Batman Toys is what the BAT-BLOG is all about!!

Vintage PENGUIN TOYS & MEMORABILIA Batman Villian

Here's a nice assortment of Vintage Batman Toys and Memorabilia featuring The super-villian THE PENGUIN. The 1st item, & probably the rarest, is the Penguin Batman Model Kit made by Aurora in 1966. This is an extremely RARE kit that you don't see everyday! I love the vintage graphics on the box. The next item is a 45 rpm Record where the sleeve is die-cut to the shape of the Penguin graphic, very cool! Plus, both songs are sort of "Penguin Related". The 3rd picture shows the Super-RARE PENGUIN PEZ Candy Dispenser. This was released by Pez in ©1976 & the unusual thing about it is the head is made out of rubber. In the same "rubber head" Super Hero set they also made Wonder Woman, The Joker, Batman, & Batgirl. The last photo shows a RARE 1970's Penguin Mego Action Figure 8" Doll in the original box. These Megos were usually "carded" so seeing one in the box is a treat. I mean, this baby belongs in a Vintage Toy Museum! Be sure to check the BAT-BLOG ARCHIVES for many more Batman Vintage Toys including Corgi, Mattel, Ideal, TransOgram, Marx, Kenner, & many more!

Assortment of RARE Vintage 1960's Batman Memorabilia

The BAT-BLOG covers everything Batman but our main focus is the area of collecting. We sometimes cover news about the comic books, both old & new, but our favorite things are the awesome Vintage Batman Toys & Memorabilia. Here are a few examples of some RARE 60's items, mainly from 1966. The 1st item is a photo of the RARE & highly collectible 1966 AURORA Slot Car of the Batmobile from the TV Series, shown in it's original box. This is a Bat-Fan favorite & also desired by many slot car collectors for it's beauty & history. The next item is a fun coloring book featuring Robin as the main character on the cover. This was published by Whitman in 1966. The last, & most RARE item, is a felt pennant of Batman & Robin that was a souvenir of Saskatoon, Canada! We hope you have enjoyed seeing these rare beauties & hope you return often for more! Also, Be sure to check the BAT-BLOG ARCHIVES for many more Rare Vintage Toys & Memorabilia....See you tommorrow!
