Well, it looks like Famed Pop Artist Christopher Franchi has done it again! He has just released a brand new Art Print that celebrates the 45th Anniversary of the 1966 BATMAN TV SHOW. The details are amazing & it features: Batman ( Adam West ), Robin the Boy Wonder ( Burt Ward ), The Joker ( Cesar Romero ), Catwoman ( Lee Merriwether ), The Penguin ( Burgess Meredith ), The Riddler ( Frank Gorshin ), and even the Classic George Barris Custom 1966 Batmobile Car! This is a High-Quality Art Print, Full-Color, measuring about 24" X 36". It will also be very limited to only 66 prints available. For more information, click HERE!
The Bat-Blog was recently blessed with a preview of a brand-new illustration by famed Graphic Designer Christopher Franchi. He's the Art Director for Metaluna 5 Media, which handles a lot of licensed properties like: KISS, Bettie Page, Alice Cooper, Star Trek, Superman, Spawn, Peanuts, Evil Dead, Betty Boop and the list goes on & on. Here is an EXCLUSIVE & Super-Awesome 1966 BATMAN WALLPAPER Chris created for the BAT-BLOG! Well, he did all the artwork & I put the Bat-Blog Logo on it, ha! Now, of course, this image relates to the 1960's BATMAN MOVIE because it shows Lee Merriwether as Catwoman. Plus, it's got the other Super-Evil Villains: The Joker ( Cesar Romero ), The Penguin ( Burgess Meredith ), The Riddler ( Frank Gorshin ), and the Hero himself, BATMAN ( Adam West )! The artwork is extremely amazing! The illustrations were all done on Cold-Press Art Board with Gouache and Colored Pencil. Then, they were scanned and assembled digitally. I like how each character has their own colored-outline, to make them sort of pop-off the page. There is also that "light ray" effect that's pretty freakin' cool!! ( Thanks Christopher, I know everybody is going to totally love this incredible Bat-Art!! )
A few days ago we did a post here at the Bat-Blog that featured some artwork by 2 Graphic Artists who were recently inspired by Carmine Infantino's iconic drawing of Batman and Robin. Well, a few days later we received this art from a friend named Steve, who likes to draw, & he too was inspired by this same artwork. But his twist on it was he drew the characters to look like the 1966 TV Show. Plus, he also did a piece that is an homage to the Golden Age Comic Book, DETECTIVE COMICS # 27. But the thing that's cool about it is that he also made it look like some characters in the 1966 BATMAN TV Show, Adam West's Batman & Cesar Romero's Joker. Both pictures are pretty cool, check them out!! Oh yeah, just to refresh some Reader's memories I posted the classic cover to Det. Comics # 27. ( Thanks Steve )
One of the greatest things I love about doing the Bat-Blog is getting to meet Batman Fans from all over the world. Here are some photos sent-in by a friend named Arturo. He lives in Mexico & wanted us to see his JOKER costume he made for a party. It looks like everybody had a fun time! The costume is very well done & the funny thing is that he had a mustache ( which he didn't shave off ) & he covered it with white make-up in honor of Cesar Romero, the Actor who played the Joker in TV's 1966 BATMAN! Now, how cool is that?! Whoops, I guess I should explain that, back in the 1960's, Romero refused to shave his trademark mustache & left it on to become the Joker. They just covered it with white make-up & it's always been sort of an unusual piece of Bat-History. Thank you for sending the wonderful photos Arturo!
Have you ever danced with the devil in the pale moonlight? I always ask that of all my prey, I just like the sound of it. This week's "Batman Wallpaper Backgrounds" feature 2 different versions of The JOKER: Cesar Romero ( From the 1966 Batman TV Show & Movie ) and Jack Nicholson from the 1989 Tim Burton Film. In their own special ways both of these Actors did a very fine job... "Delicious!"
OK, I'm sort of doing this post as a special request. Recently I started to use a new "1440 x 900 Resolution Size" for Batman Wallpapers & a Bat-Blog Fan named Richard requested a few in this size of the JOKER. He kind of left it up to me to pick the images so I went with "something old, something new". That way, more people are happy, ha! First is the "old". This is a delicious photo of Cesar Romero as The JOKER from the 1966 BATMAN TV Show. He looks very satisfied with some evil thing he did, ha! Now, the next 2 backgrounds are the same image of a cool JOKER TOY but I thought that making a black & white version would be interesting. What do you think?
Wow! Check out this amazing "1966 Batman TV Show Tribute" Tattoo!! This was submitted by our friend Sarah who lives in Austria. This tattoo took over a year to create with 8 different trips to the Tattoo Shop. Now, that's dedication right there, ha! But it was worth it because it's a beautiful piece of ART. The details are insane! It features Batman ( Adam West ), Robin The Boy Wonder ( Burt Ward ), The Joker ( Cesar Romero ), the 1966 BATMAN TV Show Logo, & even the famous Red Bat-Phone! I think the artist did a great job on the rendering of the character's faces because they look EXACTLY like the original actors! Plus, the coloring & over-all composition is very excellent ( Be sure to click on the above photo for a larger, more detailed, pic ). I wanna thank Sarah for sharing her personal story & photo...great stuff! I also want to invite any old or new Bat-Blog Fans who get some ink done to send us some pictures, Thanks.
For this week's "Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday" I thought I would post some Batman Wallpapers that are just totally weird! Yeah, I know, these are kind of strange but they still make an interesting background on your desktop. The 1st one is sort of an homage to the older BATMAN BEYOND TV cartoon. I did it because I'm very excited about the "Batman Beyond: The Complete Series" coming to DVD. The next one is a wonderful image of the JOKER ( Cesar Romero ) from the 1966 Batman TV Show that I found while surfing the net. So, whattya think of these? Good? Bad? Well, the Bat-Blog has 100's more you can see if you did through the Bat-Archives that's located on the left side of this blog, about 1/2 way down.
A friend turned me on to this website the other day Called BATTLE ROYALE WITH CHEEZE & I have to admit that I'm very impressed with it so far. Basically, it's the online artwork portfolio of a Graphic Artist named Steve Willaredt and it looks like he has been doing a tribute to the old 1960's BATMAN TV Series. He's doing some very funny caricatures of the characters from the show & they really look like the actual actors. In fact, the art is pretty cool! As an example I'm showing just a few here but please be sure to visit his site to see the rest, click HERE!
This week I thought I would post some "Blast from the Past" Batman Wallpapers! So, here are some Desktop Wallpaper Background images from the Classic 1966 Batman Movie! The fun thing is we get to see Batman ( Adam West ), Robin The Boy Wonder ( Burt Ward ), The Joker ( Cesar Romero ), The Riddler ( Frank Gorshin ), & Penguin ( Burgess Meredith ) in all their crazy-zany glory...IN COLOR!!
Shown here are some photos of an amazing Custom Toy made by a Bat-Blog Reader known as "Turkey Bowinkle". Yeah, that's his name. You got a problem with that? But seriously he's a very creative person & he made this LITTLE JOKER Jack In The Box! It's a small wooden box with painted Joker Card graphics. When you open the lid - BOOM! - The Joker pops out! The Joker Figure is some sort of sculpted clay ( painted later ) with cloth clothing & green hair. I really love this little toy. It's so cool! The facial expression on Joker's face is really great & he does sort of look a lot like Cesar Romero from the 1966 Batman TV Show! So, "Turkey Bowinkle" is a very talented artist in deed! I wanna thank him for sending the wonderful pics & also invite all other Bat-Blog Readers ( with special art or craft projects ) to please send us some pics as well.
Here's a pretty cool video I came across & I can't help but think this is our old friend Martin from the UK. He was really into collecting Custom Dolls & Action Figures, especially ones that were related to the 1966 Batman TV Series. Hmmm, I need to contact him & see. Either way this video is very interesting. In it this toy collector showcases his collection of Custom Toys that were made to resemble 4 Bat-Villians who were known as THE UNITED UNDERWORLD in the BATMAN feature film of 1966. The evil group included The Riddler ( Frank Gorshin ), Catwoman ( Lee Merriwether ), The Penguin ( Burgess Meredith ), & The Joker ( Cesar Romero )! Now, before you freak-out & start asking, "where do I buy these?", ha ha. These Mego Dolls are all custom made, even the display boxes. But you have to admit they're all extremely well-done. The head sculpts of each character look almost exactly like the real-life actors. The costumes are very accurate too & the display boxes are just a total bonus! Martin, if these are yours please contact me.
I recently met a new friend named Pat who's an extremely talented Graphic Artist. You might recognize his work if you have bought any of those Bluewater Comics on Political Heroes ( Barack Obama or Sarah Palin ) or New Doc Savage Paperback Books. He also does a lot of other projects but in his spare time he likes to draw Batman just because he's a huge fan of the character. Well, these 2 Batman Desktop Wallpapers were drawn by him! The first one is the colored version & the 2nd one shows his amazing pencil work. The main image is Batman ( Adam West ) doing the Batusi, the Forbidden Dance! Plus there's a smaller image of The Joker ( Cesar Romero ). If you would like to see more art work by this extremely talented artist then check out this link button to his gallery down below:
Starting this next Friday, July 18th to be exact, the famous comic book history website DIAL B FOR BLOG will have "16 Days of the Dark Knight"! I've seen some of the stuff he'll be presenting & it's awesome! I'm sure all Bat-Fans will love it. Basically there's a lot of parody humor about "what if" the characters from the 1966 Batman TV Show were in The Dark Knight movie instead of the current actors. Plus there will be some other fun facts about the movie. The graphics I have seen are amazing & also pretty funny. Here's an example: The top picture is a parody of the famous Dark Knight movie poster with the Joker presenting his playing card but Heath Ledger has been replaced with Cesar Romero ( be sure to click on it for a larger version ). The next graphic is the popular "International Banner" with The Joker switched around...So, be sure to check that out next week!
Our friend "Robby", who writes a really great comic book blog called DIAL B FOR BLOG, posted this super-hilarious photo the other day & It's so freakin' awesome that I had to "totally steal it", ha ha ha! ( Click on the above graphic for a larger photo ). It's a parody of the new Dark Knight "Joker - Why So Serious" Movie Poster but he replaced Heath Ledger's character with The Joker from the 1966 Batman TV Show, Cesar Romero. As the original '66 Joker would say, "it's Delicious!" Here's a link to visit his cool website but please remember to BOOKMARK the Bat-Blog before ya go!
