Ever since I saw that scene, at the end of BATMAN BEGINS, where Jim Gordon hands a Joker Playing Card ( in a police evidence bag ) over to Batman & Batman replies, "I'll check into it" we have known that the next movie was gonna have The Joker! For awhile there was wild speculation as to which actor would be this character. Then we all heard the name "Heath Ledger". To be honest, at first, I thought it was a weird choice. But, I put my trust in Christopher Nolan's decision & look what has happened. All the news reports & reviews are saying that Ledger's performance is easily Oscar worthy. That he plays the Joker with incredible skill. Well, I'm really excited about that & tonight, after waiting almost 2 years, some friends & I are gonna go to a special midnight showing! I'm totally excited & really looking forward to this film. OK, sorry to go on & on. Let's get to the reason of this post. I thought, to celebrate the movie, I would post 2 DARK KNIGHT Desktop Background Wallpapers! The 1st one is a montage of a few different Batman TDK Movie Posters. This one was created & sent in by a Bat-Blog Reader named Levi. I think it looks really cool, thanks Levi & GOOD JOB! I made the 2nd one & it's the classic scene with the Bat-Pod motorcycle crashing though the window of a Gotham City building. I hope you enjoy both of these!

Tonight I started to panic because I just realized that it's Wednesday & I didn't post 2 brand-new FREE Batman Desktop Wallpapers, oh my god! Ha Ha, OK, Here's two that I know you'll like. The 1st one uses some cool retro-graphics that were once on the back of one of those Treasury Comics in the 1970's, a great image. The 2nd one is of the actor Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne. He's in the new Bat-Cave that will be featured in The Dark Knight / Batman movie. You also get a glimpse of the new Bat-Suit, sweet.

Oh Crap! I almost forgot that today is "Wacky Wallpapers Wednesday" so, at the last minute, I decided to post these 2 Batman Desktop Wallpapers with a MR. FREEZE theme! The first one is a special piece of graphic art done by a friend named Mark Slater ( I hope he doesn't mind me "stealing" his work, ha ha). It's a really great version of Mr. Freeze from Batman: The Animated Series. The second background is an ultra-sharp photo sent in to us by a Bat-Blog Reader named Michael. It's a Mr. Freeze action figure, shown close-up ...VERY NICE! ( Thanks to both Mark & Michael, these are great! ).
OK, I gotta admit I went kinda crazy with the creation of a few NEW JOKER Background Wallpapers this morning, ha ha ha ha! But these are kinda special. They all feature Heath Ledger as The Joker from the new DARK KNIGHT Batman #2 Movie Trailer. I guess they are sort of an homage to Heath Ledger. So far, everything I have seen of Mr. Ledger's performance looks like it's gonna be really great. So, this is for you Heath, RIP.

Up above is a BATMAN MEGO DOLL Background you can use to brighten your desktop. OK, I know it's not "Wallpaper Day" but I wanted to showcase this one because it's special. This one sort of promotes a book called MEGO 8" SUPERHEROES: WORLD'S GREATEST TOYS written by Benjamin Holcomb. It's been out for a little while now & has been very successful. Basically, it's a super-detailed guide book for all the amazing toys, dolls, & action figures made by the Mego Toy Company. If you're a vintage toy collector you would love it! Here at the Bat-Blog we have another page called "Bat-Blog Interviews" where we publish articles where we talk with "Batman-related" people. I had planned on talking with Benjamin about this book way before it came out. We even talked on the phone once. But, the interview didn't happen because of me. I even planned on doing one to be released around the time the book came out but that didn't happen either. The reason is that, during that time, I was going through a lot of personal problems & just never had time. I don't update the "Interviews Page" as much as I should because it takes a large amount of time to do the research, writing, & posting. But, I have always regretting not doing this interview as it's an extremely well-written & beautifully photographed book. OK, it's time again for some FREE Batman Wallpapers & I really love posting these because they seem to be a bat-fan favorite! The 1st one was contributed by a loyal Bat-Blog Reader named "Bacon" who also works as a graphic designer. That explains why his work is so awesome, ha ha! It has a "Jackson Pollock" splatter effect that looks like liquid gel or watercolor...nice! The 2nd one was made by me from some le@ked artwork for the official DARK KNIGHT Movie Poster. I'd like to thank "Bacon" for his wonderful graphic work & also to the guy who sent me the poster art. Contributions by Bat-Blog readers is one of the ways we always have such diversity & I really appreciate that so if you have some cool Bat-Graphics then please send them in. If they're BIG enough they could be wallpaper for everybody!
The Cartoon Network as announced that they will be doing a new Batman animated cartoon TV series called BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD. It looks like they're giving the franchise a whole new look & it will be modeled after the original comic book series where each episode they will feature a different DC Universe character teaming up with the Dark Knight. It's scheduled to be released later this year in fall 2008. This, of course, will create a whole new reason for new toys & merchandising so be sure to check with the Bat-Blog in the near future for that information...we're excited! Oh yeah, about the 2 graphics featured here, they're both Batman Desktop Wallpapers! Please feel free to decorate your PC desktop or use them in a MySpace layout!

The next Joker Wallpaper is extremely special because it was created by a friend of the Bat-Blog named "Bacon". He's a graphic designer dude with a lot of talent. He made this just for you guys & it's really cool! I like how, in the background, there's the phrase "WHY SO SERIOUS?" & the letter have a drop-shadow to give them a 3-D look. The graphic of Joker has the same shadow & it's just a neat trick-of-the-eye that I like. We wanna invite other readers to send us LARGE graphics we can use as backgrounds.
