Get A Good Look At Iron Man's Arc Reactor From Christopher S. Ross Concept Art

Tony Stark's chest Arc Reactor in Iron Man (2008) is a technical marvel. No one gives us a better look at it's wondrous technology than Christopher S. Ross (Men In Black 3, Avengers, Minority Report).

It's interesting to see the elaborate device Tony Stark could - and should - have had to work on it. Of course, we wouldn't have gotten the hilarious scene of Pepper taking it in and out for him.

Official Synopsis:
From Marvel Studios and Paramount Pictures comes Iron Man, an action-packed take on the tale of wealthy philanthropist Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), who develops an invulnerable robotic suit to fight the throes of evil. In addition to being filthy rich, billionaire industrialist Tony Stark is also a genius inventor. When Stark is kidnapped and forced to build a diabolical weapon, he instead uses his intelligence and ingenuity to construct an indestructible suit of armor and escape his captors. Once free, Stark discovers a deadly conspiracy that could destabilize the entire globe, and dons his powerful new suit on a mission to stop the villains and save the world. Gwyneth Paltrow co-stars as his secretary, Virginia "Pepper" Potts, while Terrence Howard fills the role of Jim "Rhodey" Rhodes, one of Stark's colleagues, whose military background leads him to help in the formation of the suit. Jon Favreau directs, with Marvel movie veterans Avi Arad and Kevin Feige producing.

This Is Not Extremis Armor In ‘Iron Man 3′ Concept Art by Ryan Meinerding

BREAKING NEWS
Are we looking at Iron Man's Extremis nanotech armor? The answer is no.

The first concept art from Iron Man 3 has been released and, not surprisingly, it's by Marvel's in-house artist Ryan Meinerding (Captain America: The First Avenger, Thor, Iron Man). The level of detail is astounding of course and we have no idea what the context is, but it's very dramatic.

The artist has named it "Caged" and the idea fits what Marvel producer Kevin Feige has described. "We wanted to take Tony back to, metaphorically speaking, the cave from Iron Man, the first half of Iron Man, when he's cut off from the world and needs just focus on his intellects to get himself out of his situation." Feige said "So he's not calling Thor, he's not calling Captain America, he can't press a special button to have the helicarrier come rescue him, so I think that'll be a nice complement to the team up of Avengers."

Marvel adds this description:
"Tony Stark looks like he could use a little help in this new piece of concept art by Ryan Meinerding from 'Iron Man 3'!

"But who's Tony up against, and what do they want with him? We can't say, but we know that May 3, 2013 can't come quick enough. So from now until then, keep your eyes on Marvel.com and visit our "Iron Man 3" hubpage for even more on the next chapter in Shellhead's saga."

Some have speculated that this armor is coming out of Tony Stark's body like his Extremis armor.

For those not familiar, this is how Wikipedia describes the Extremis armor from the comics
Extremis has been referred to as a "virus" constantly since the story.

The verbatim description offered by its inventor Maya Hansen, goes: "...Extremis is a super-soldier solution. It's a bio-electronics package, fitted into a few billion graphite nanotubes and suspended in a carrier fluid. A magic bullet, like the original super-soldier serum—all fitted into a single injection. It hacks the body's repair center—the part of the brain that keeps a complete blue print of the human body. When we're injured, we refer to that area of the brain to heal properly. Extremis rewrites the repair center. In the first stage, the body essentially becomes an open wound. The normal human blueprint is being replaced with the Extremis blueprint, you see? The brain is being told the body is wrong. Extremis protocol dictates that the subject be placed on life support and intravenously fed nutrients at this point. For the next two or three days, the patient remains unconscious within a cocoon of scabs. (...) Extremis uses the nutrients and body mass to grow new organs. Better ones..."

Could this be the first example of this armor? Let's see.

This is what we've already seen in the first set photo.

Notice Iron Man's armor on the table? It matches exactly what we're seeing in the concept art.

So, this armor is a physical construct, not a nanobot generated one.

Very cool though and I can't wait to see more from this film.

Ryan Meinerding's website is http://boyrobot.com although it's been dead for a while. His Facebook page is https://www.facebook.com/ryan.meinerding.

About the movie:
Offical Synopsis: Hitting theaters May 3, 2013, “Iron Man 3” returns Robert Downey, Jr. as the iconic super hero character Tony Stark/Iron Man along with Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts, Don Cheadle as James “Rhodey” Rhodes and Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan.

Directed by Shane Black and starring Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Don Cheadle (War Machine), Gwyneth Paltrow (Pepper Potts) and Guy Pearce (Aldrich Killian).

Will the Hulkbuster Armor Be In 'The Avengers' Movie? One Concept Artist Says No

Will Iron Man be duking it out with the Hulk in his "Hulkbuster" armor? Concept artist Adi Granov doesn't think so. He would know since he's worked on two of the Marvel films Iron Man and Iron Man 2.

Italian website BadTaste had an interview with Granov where he says the Hulkbuster isn't going to show up in The Avengers.

About this topic, there is [an Iron Man armor] that everybody is looking forward to seeing on the screen: the Hulkbuster.

"In the first ['Iron Man'] movie we had the Iron Monger ... the idea for him came from the Hulkbuster. I did a cover with the Hulkbuster in it. Jon Favreau liked that design and asked me to draw something similar to it for the Iron Monger. So, technically, the Iron Monger is the Hulkbuster, and that I think is why for a while we won't see it in a movie. It would only be yet another Iron Man big type of armor."
Of course he could be wrong and it may show up. But, add Renner's comment about being "the only one" who can stop the Hulk and Adi is right.

So, what is the Hulkbuster armor?

Hulkbuster Armor (Modular Add-on)

First Appearance: Iron Man (vol. 1) #304 (May 1994)

The Hulkbuster armor is a heavy-duty exo-frame (an add-on to the Mk. XI Modular Armor) designed for maximum strength amplification at the cost of reduced versatility and mobility. As its name suggests, it was specifically designed for hand-to-hand combat with the rampaging Hulk. The armor was rated with a lift (press) capacity of 175 tons. During its maiden run, the armor enabled Stark to hold his own in sustained physical combat with the Hulk. - Wikipedia
For reference, here's his concept art from Iron Man of the Iron Monger.

Proof That BATMAN is Cooler Than Other Superheroes

I really don't care about "Celebrity News", it's shallow & lame. But I came across this paparazzi photo the other day that's kinda cool. It shows the Actor Robert Downey Jr ( Ironman & Sherlock Holmes ) walking down the street with his Son. The funny thing is his Son, Indio, is wearing a Batman T-Shirt AND Bat-Symbol Logo Belt Buckle, ha! Yes, it appears he's more of a Batman Fan than one of Ironman!

VIDEO - IRON MAN vs BATMAN -Interactive Stop Motion

Ever wonder who would win in a fight between Iron Man and Batman? Well, now YOU get to choose in this interactive clash of the billionaires! This video took our friend Kyle over 3 months of work to complete & he shot over 1,000 individual pictures. Kyle used Dragon Stop Motion to capture, After Effects for bulk of the animating, and Final Cut Pro to cut it together and add all of the audio. AS A SIDE NOTE: Both the Hot Toy figures and the animation video will be on display later at the Toy and Action Figure Museum in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma.

THE JOKER From Dark Knight Batman Movie ( Heath Ledger ) Life-Size Paper-Mache Sculpture

On a personal level I really love ART in just about all of it's forms, especially artwork made by children. It just has a very nice charm about it. Well, a friend to the Bat-Blog, named Adrian, recently went to an exhibit of "Little Kid's Superhero Art" & he got some amazing photos to share. Adrian wrote, "I went to a local mall last night to see some 3-dimensional life-size paper-mache sculptures. They were created by some 7th & 8th grade students of the Holten-Richmond Middle School of Danvers, MA. My girlfriend's cousins, who are in the 8th grade class, helped on a sculpture." WOW! These HUGE sculptures are really super-great! Because the Bat-Blog is ALL about Batman I am sort of showcasing the one of the Joker. It's the Heath Ledger version from the Dark Knight Batman movie ( which is kinda weird for little kids to be making, ha ha ) but they did a wonderful job on this figure! He looks awesome! There were also some pieces, equally as great, that focused on Marvel Comic Book characters. They made Spiderman, The Incredible Hulk, Ironman, & Dr. Octopus! All the artwork here is really special & I wanna congratulate all the children on a job very well done! Also, I wanna thank Adrian for the use of these pics. Thank you, they're very cool!

Artist Eric Maruscak Creates Batman Mural with Chalk!

If you go to a lot of comic book conventions then you might have been lucky enough to view the "mural" artwork of Eric Maruscak in person. Eric creates HUGE works of art, in chalk, on the sidewalks near many events. The photo up above shows one he did recently. It features The Dark Knight, Indiana Jones, & Ironman. He did this both for the love of the characters & to celebrate the fact that there has finally been some really great movies this year. OK, I haven't seen the Indiana Jones movie yet but I can say that Ironman was pretty awesome! And of course you know that I love TDK, ha ha! I'm curious if any other readers have seen this guy's work. If so then please comment down below. Also, if you shot any photos of his stuff then please send it in to us, our e-mail button is always on the top right-hand side of this page, thanks.
