OK, Here's a list of all the Promo Deals the Retail Stores are having to promote sales of their DVD of JUSTICE LEAGUE: CRISIS ON TWO EARTH. The 3 I'm covering are the major outlets: Best Buy, Amazon, & Target. I checked the Walmart website & they didn't list anything so if they do something please let me know. There might also be other promotional items out there with other stores. I have tried to compile this information the best I can so if it's not totally accurate then it's not my fault, ha! Alright, here we go! Most of the stores on this list have a Free Exclusive if you buy the DVD 2-Disc Set or the Blu-Ray Copy only. Looks like you don't get anything if you buy the regular DVD movie. Best Buy has an Exclusive 3" Figure of OWLMAN ( yeah, you read that right, 3 inches. But it does look kinda cool though ). Amazon gives you a Free Lithograph Poster with a graphic from the animated film ( No Batman shown ). The movies you buy at Target have a special "Extra Short of The SPECTRE" that sounds pretty cool! But, at the Amazon website they show that they have it too ( I think Target sells a lot of stuff through Amazon, like they are partners or something ). If I get any more information on any new promotional items then I'll be sure to post them here. So, stay tuned with the Bat-Blog!
This week, for "Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday", I thought I would post these 2 Desktop Backgrounds I made of scenes from the new DC Universe animated movie "SUPERMAN / BATMAN: PUBLIC ENEMIES". Just judging from the recent trailer it looks pretty AWESOME! I have also included some information from Warner Bros about the different DVD formats. So, here we go! Basically they're gonna sell it as a Single DVD, a 2-Disc DVD Special Edition, & a Blu-Ray Disc Version. The release date for this will be around September 29th, 2009. Here's how they break down:
Superman/Batman: Public Enemies - 2 Disc Special Edition version will have more than three hours of incredible bonus features, including:
* Featurettes
o The Blackest Night: Inside the DC Comics Event: Behind-the-scenes of BLACKEST NIGHT, the epic DC Super Hero event in which the dead shall rise.
o A Test of Minds: Superman and Batman featurette with Jeph Loeb, giving viewers a fresh and revitalized look at the team-up of Superman and Batman working together despite their often competitive and challenging relationship.
o “Dinner with DC: With Special Guest Kevin Conroy”: Reprising his role from Batman: The Animated Series, Kevin Conroy joins the crew for dinner to discuss their creative approach and what the Superman/Batman team-up means. The evening will be hosted by Voice Director Andrea Romano, Producer Bruce Timm and DC’s Gregory Noveck
* Extended Sneak Peak at Next DCU Film
* Digital Copy Download
* Widescreen (1.78:1)
* Two Episodes of Justice League Unlimited hand-picked by animation legend Bruce Timm
Superman/Batman: Public Enemies Blu-Ray versions will have more than three-and-a-half hours of bonus materials, including all the great extras from the 2-disc Special Edition as well as two additional episodes of Justice League Unlimited and two episodes from Justice League, both personally selected by fan-favorite Bruce Timm.
Warner Premiere is excited to continue this successful partnership with DC Comics, Warner Bros. Animation and Warner Home Video to present feature-length PG-13 animated original films with the film-making and celebrity voice starpower of Superman/Batman: Public Enemies.
Based on the past success of Superman Doomsday and Batman Gotham Knight, we know the pairing of the Man of Steel and the Dark Knight – pitted against both their DC Super Hero colleagues and the entire rogue’s gallery of DC villains – will offer fans the level of entertainment normally reserved for the big, summer blockbuster films.
This is the ultimate film for DC animation lovers featuring not only the cornerstone characters of comic book and Saturday morning heroes, but also returns the seminal voices of those characters – Tim Daly, Kevin Conroy and Clancy Brown – in a story that explores the Superman/Batman dynamic and allows Lex Luthor to shine in ultimate villainy.
OK, The new Batman video news right now is that Warner Bros is gonna release the 1989 BATMAN MOVIE on Blu-Ray for the 20th Anniversary Edition! It's hard to believe this movie has been out that long! Thinking about it kinda makes me feel old, ha ha. Of course we're talking about the classic '89 Tim Burton film with Michael Keaton, Kim Basinger, & Jack Nicholson. Here's the deal: The official release date for retail stores is on May 5th, 2009 but you can pre-order it on March 31st, the end of this month. It's gonna come with a 50 page book that has script pages, excerpts from the movie, color photos, & a comic book adaptation by DC Comics. It will also have a Digital Copy you can download to your PC.
The other day I was talking to a friend & he said, "Oh yeah, I thought of you last night because I saw a TV Commercial featuring The Dark Knight Batman movie". I asked about it further & he said it was for some kind of pizza deal but he didn't see the whole thing. I just assumed that Domino's Pizza brought back their "Gotham City Special". Well, I was wrong. I went to Papa John's Pizza last night to pick up our order & they had these special BATMAN GIFT CARDS on sale. It seems that Warner Bros teamed-up with them to promote the release of The Dark Knight to DVD & Blu-Ray Disc. If you buy one of these Gift Cards you can use them yourself ( like if you're gonna get a pizza anyway ) or just ask the manager if you can have one. I did & they just gave me one. They also make great Christmas gift ideas too, ha ha. Oh yeah, on the box they have a coupon for $3.00 off your Dark Knight DVD movie purchase, not too shabby.
OK, keeping up with the whole "DVD & Blu-Ray Store Exclusives" thing is a total nightmare! But here's some early reports I have got so far. Best Buy will be giving away a free "Movie Poster" with all pre-orders of THE DARK KNIGHT ( actually not a real movie poster but smaller ). This is kinda cheesy so look for a way better offer from them once it gets closer to December 9th ( the official release date for the DVD ). Another "exclusive" that looks a lot better is from Wal-Mart. Seriously, ha ha! Walmart will bundle the "Single-Disc DVD" with a TDK Comic Book & Two-Face Coin Replica. The last rumor I have heard is that FYE Stores will have the movie in 3 different Steelcases ( Graphics will be either Batman, Two-Face, or Joker ). I don't have a photo of them yet so if you live near a FYE store please send us one! Like I said, keeping up with all the store exclusive DVD sets is totally crazy so if you have ANY information to share then please let us know, thanks.
OK, in researching some of the "foreign" DVD & Blu-Ray Releases of THE DARK KNIGHT I have come across these two. The 1st one is the "German Edition" Blu-Ray Set & it comes with a Laser-Cut 3-D Display of the Bat-Pod Motorcycle. It also comes in a special display box. I imagine they will also sell a regular DVD set too but it might not have the extra gift. The 2nd one is from Canada. It's a "Special Two-Disc DVD Edition" & will come with the "Joker Goon - Bank Robber Mask" Statue. Something to keep in mind is that the Canadian one might work in US players but the German one will probably be "Region 2" so it might not. DVDs are sold in different formats for different countries. Region 1 is usually for the USA & Canada...you might check before buying one. This one has a special box also. If any other readers living outside the USA come across any special DVD sets then please let us know.

Here's a brand-new promo ad that shows what the DVD packaging for the animated tie-in "Batman: Gotham Knight" is gonna look like. There are gonna be 2 different covers for the 3 separate editions. There's the single-disc DVD, the 2-disc DVD Special Edition, & the Blu-Ray DVD version. I seriously can't wait till these hit the stores because I love Japanese anime & this animated movie looks like it's gonna ROCK! If you look at some of our previous posts here at the Bat-Blog we have the trailer up & a few promo pics!
OK, I want to say, 1st thing, that I received a free copy of this DVD for review but that in NO way affects my opinion here. I'm gonna be very honest about what I feel about this movie. This movie is AWESOME! Justice League, The New Frontier is Warner Brothers' latest DVD film that is being released to stores today, Feb 26th! It's the adaptation of Darwyn Cooke's popular graphic novel from a few years ago. He was an adviser on the film so it totally retains the look & feel of his famous artwork. The graphic style is sort of an homage to the animation art that was popular in the 1950's. Very simple & minimal with strong color palettes. The art direction of this film is beautiful. The sound effects & voice acting are top notch! There are too many great actors to name here but the voices were all wonderful. The storyline starts out in the Korean War & ends when John F. Kennedy is president so it's almost all about the Cold War era. The DC Comic Book characters are the ones from the Silver-Age of comics so that has a great nostalgic appeal. There's a few political statements here & there but they're kinda watered down ( The general public thinks The Flash might be a Communist because his costume is RED, ha ha ). The basic story is how the Justice League got together & formed a team. There's a huge event that places the earth in danger & they all get together to fight it. Overall I really enjoyed this movie & highly recommend it. My only gripe is that at 75 minutes it seemed a little short. Other than that small detail the artwork, sound e/fx, voices, storyline, is really very good. I guess if I was to rate it by number I would give it a 7 or 8 out of 10. If you liked the graphic novel then you'll love this animated version!
On February 26th, 2008 Warner Brothers will be releasing the much anticipated DC Universe Animated Movie titled JUSTICE LEAGUE: THE NEW FRONTIER on Blu-Ray Hi Def & DVD. So, here's some really cool Desktop Wallpapers you can use as a background on your computer to remember to buy it...it's gonna be great! Also, Please help support the Bat-Blog by buying it here:
