RARE UNUSUAL BATMAN TOYS & Memorabilia From the 1960's

As a pretty serious Batman Toy Collector I also love finding strange thing to add to my collection. Shown here are some reference photos I gathered as an example. The 1st item is a Children's BATMAN Restaurant Menu from the 1960's. This item is ultra-rare & I have no idea where it was used but the graphics are extremely cool!

Next-up is an unofficial "bootleg" item. it's an extremely weird "Robin, The Boy Wonder" figure. It sort of reminds me of a Kitschy Troll Doll because, it's so cheesy-trashy, that it's fun, ha! Speaking of cool the 3rd pic shows us a Vintage Batman Toy sold in the UK. It's called the BATMAN BATARANG Bagatelle. It was made by MARX ( an American Toy Company ) but was only sold in England, extremely RARE! I love the original box almost as much as the toy!

Now, for the last item, you must be wondering, "What is that crazy thing?". Well, this is a 1966 Batman BAT-CHUTE! What you did is put this thing on the back of your Bicycle & when you switch a lever a large drag-shoot ( or parachute ) would burst out! Yes, the original 1966 Batmobile Car had this device on the TV Show & kids loved it!

BATMAN Collector Reference Photos - Vintage 1960's Toys and Books

One of the main functions of the Bat-Blog is to celebrate the joy of collecting Batman toys and memorabilia, both old & new. So, it was really great to get an email from a reader named Robson who wanted to share a few pieces from his Vintage BATMAN Toy Collection. Shown here is the 1960's Aurora Batman Model Kit, a couple of 1966 Coloring Books, and a 1966 Twistable Batman made by Marx Toys. The Coloring Books are kinda common but I have always loved the graphics on them. The Marx Figure is so extremely RARE that it's almost what Vintage Toy Collectors call a "Museum Piece". ( One last thing, I made the photo of the Model Kit into a BATMAN Wallpaper Background you can use to brighten your desktop - Click on it to see it's full-beauty! ). Robson, Thank you for sharing these cool pics. If any other Bat-Fans out there who have any pieces they would like to share then please send us some photos too!

Vintage 1966 BATMAN "Unpunched" Bicycle License Plate by MARX

OK, all of us Vintage Batman Toy Collectors have seen these really cool 1966 Batman License Plate Bicycle Tags made by MARX. They did a few different ones & personally, I love them all. But this one ( the one on the right ) is very special. The one on the left is the cool vintage piece of 60's memorabilia we all might get to see at a Toy Show or Flea Market ( if we're having a very lucky day ). But the one on the right is an example of one that was "never punched or stamped at the factory". Go ahead & click on the photo up above for a large, crisp photo. Then, prepare to drool! This is extremely RARE to find something like this! I think it's pretty cool & is a great piece of Bat-History! I wanna thank our good friend THE BATFAN for sharing this photo. He said he recently came across it while unpacking some boxes. I've done that before, found something you forgot about buying. When it happens, it's almost like Christmas!

VINTAGE BATMAN TOY - The 1966 HOT LINE BATPHONE By MARX

Here are some really great pics I thought I would share today. You know, to totally torture you, ha ha! This is an extremely cool vintage 1960's toy that I bet some of you might have had this when you were a small child. This is the BATMAN HOT LINE BATPHONE!! It came out during the craze of the 1966 Batman TV Show & kids at that time totally loved it! It was made by the Classic Toy Company, LOUIS MARX & CO. It's a battery-operated device where, when you press a button, it would say 10 different sayings or phrases - stuff like, "We can never let the people down!, This is our kind of fight!, Depart in haste - Boy Wonder!, They'll never remove the bat mask!, Go thaw Mr. Freeze!, & (my favorite) Go ZAP those greasy criminals!" I wonder if there's a YouTube video of the TV Commercial ( if they made a TV ad ) or maybe somebody created a MP3 of the sounds, who knows? It would be great to hear them again. By the way, these pics were sent to me by a friend to totally torture me. You see, he knows that I don't have this thing & I really want one. Thanks Jim, you made me cry. I hope you're happy now, ha ha!

PHOTOS: Vintage 1966 BATMAN TOYS & COLLECTIBLES

Today I thought I would get back to what the Bat-Blog does best & that is covering the old Vintage Batman Toys from the past. Here's a really nice assortment of items from the 1960's. In fact, most of these came out in 1966 to capitalize on the popularity of the '66 Batman TV Show. The 1st photo is an extremely RARE Batman Halloween Costume by the Berwick Company, for the British UK market. I love the retro-style artwork on the original box, nice! The 2nd piece of Bat-History is kinda goofy but also very desirable by many collectors because of it's rarity. It's an unopened package of Hallmark Birthday Gift Wrap! Oh man, the original retail price was only 25 cents, ha ha! The next item to drool over is the front & back of the Classic 1966 Batman & Joker Paddle Ball Game! You can find this toy sometimes, loose, out of the package, but here it's shown with the original retail bag & header card...most sweet! The last item is one of those Tin-Metal Bicycle License Plate Tags made by LOUIS MARX & CO, INC. This one with THE JOKER graphics is super-dooper rare! In the past I have seen these with Batman & Robin but I think they also made Penguin & Riddler ones too. Anyways, hope you liked some of these. If you have any super-rare Batman pieces to share then please send them in. The Bat-Blog is all about sharing the love of collecting both new & vintage bat-items, thanks.

Vintage Batman Toys & Memorabilia

I know we try to cover EVERYTHING Batman here but our main love is collecting the cool Vintage Batman Toys & Memorabilia. Here's a few examples: The 1st pic is of a BATMAN SHOOTING ARCADE made by AHI in the 1970's. The retro 70's graphics are really great! The 2nd item is quite RARE. It's a small tin license plate tag made for a bicycle & features cool graphics of The PENGUIN, made by Marx ©1966. You never really see this one. They made ones of Batman & Robin that are semi-common. If they did Penguin it makes me wonder if they did The Joker because he's a little more popular. We're always looking for photos of super-rare vintage Batman toys so if you have a few pieces in your personal toy collection that you would like to see here then please share them today! Our e-mail button is on the top left-hand side of this blog.

Video: Vintage 60's BATMOBILE BY MARX Batman TV Toy Commercial

The other day I found an old vintage 1960's sales catalog that had a great ad for the Official Batman & Robin Batmobile Rider From Louis Marx & Co. This ride-on toy was sold in the late 60's to capitalize on the popularity of the , now classic, 1966 TV Series. The picture shows a little kid riding the toy & it has a very cool "graphic look" about it so I knew I had to post it! I was gonna do a post with a theme of "Old Batman Vintage Ads" but then I got an e-mail, from a friend named John, who sent me a picture of the original box for this toy. WOW! The art work on the box is so beautiful that I knew I had to do a post JUST about this toy!! ( Be sure to click-on that picture for a much larger, more detailed, photo! ) Now, I've done a write-up about this toy in an earlier post ( Check The ARCHIVES ) but I thought I could add some more new pictures here. Oh yeah, one last thing, Thank You John for the wonderful photo!! If ANY other readers have some Batman-related photos to share then please send them. Down below is the amazing Vintage TV Commercial for this toy, enjoy!

Vintage 1966 Batman MARX SHOOTING RANGE Toy

BAT-BLOG Readers always expect to see Super-RARE Vintage Batman Toys here & for this post we are seriously delivering the goods! This is a beautiful 1966 Batman Shooting Range Toy made by the MARX Co. They made 2 different versions of this toy, a small hand-size one & a large tabletop version. This is the large tabletop version with original box! I really love the old litho-coloring of the vintage display box. Also, the toy is extremely cool with great graphics also. The outside part is clear-plastic to keep the ball-bearings you shoot from getting out. This was a game alot like those carnival games where you shoot at targets for points. The inside is tin metal w/ awesome litho-graphics too! ( Click The Small Picture Above For a Larger photo ). Be sure to check the BAT-BLOG ARCHIVES for many more Vintage & Super-RARE Batman Toys!
