BATMAN is running for office in Tulsa, Oklahoma! No, not the "comic book character", but a real-life person named Mike Batman. Mike immigrated from Syria in 1982 & has made Tulsa his home since then. When he got here he started working part-time at Church's Fried Chicken & now owns his own Convenience Store. He just opened his own car lot called "Batman's Auto Sales". Mike is pretty well known in Tulsa. In fact, he is sort of a local hero. Since operating his own business, he has been extremely generous in donating to local causes. Well, now he is running for Tulsa City Council, District 9. The election is in November & we wish him all the luck in the world! Now, most people who read this blog don't know anything about me but I live in Oklahoma City, which is about an hour & a half away from Tulsa. I love that city, it's really great! I used to go there at least once a month for business & have always enjoyed the visit. So, when I came across this story I knew I had to share it.
As reported from The ONION NEWS Network here is an important story about Kim Jong Il, the leader of North Korea. Apparently he really really wants to play Batman in the next BATMAN Movie. So much so that he's will to give-up his Nuclear Program to get the role.
Here's a weird photo I found on the web the other day. It's a woman in some foreign country protesting some issue, probably politics, & her sign says, "Where is Batman when we need him?". Now, the website was totally in Arabic so there was no way for me to translate it. I just thought it was kinda cool. Plus, I'm NOT trying to be political or anything like that. I'm just sharing something strange I found, that's all. If anyone knows what this is about then please let me know.
OK, I never get political here at the Bat-Blog but I thought these pictures were pretty funny & decided to share them. I know that some Republicans are going to be total cry-babies over the "Sarah Palin" parody humor photo of her as the Joker but please remember that it's ONLY a joke. I'm not personally criticizing her or anything. So, don't flood me with e-mails, ok? But, ya gotta admit, it's hilarious! The 2nd photo is an actual piece of Batman merchandise that was made in 1960's. It's a poster of Batman & Robin as Hubert Humphrey & Lyndon B. Johnson ( or, as they say in Texas, LBJ! ). It's extremely RARE & is highly sought-after by both Batman & Political Memorabilia Collectors.
Here's an actual real-life political campaign button being distributed by Obama supporters that has a design motif you might recognize! It has the classic "KAPOW!!, OOOOF!!, ZOK!!, POW!!" graphics from the 1966 Batman TV Show. The photo was sent in by Greg, a regular Bat-Blog reader, who said, "My Dad came to visit me last week & gave me this button that one of his co-workers gave him. I knew you would like to share it at your Bat-Blog so here's a photo!". Yeah, Thanks Greg! Thanks for torturing me...I now want one of these! Ha Ha! But seriously, I do appreciate you sending the photo, that's very cool. ( As a side note: I am publishing this photo as a piece of Bat-History & I'm not endorsing any candidate. So, Republicans...don't send your hate mail, ha ha! ).
In a strange report from The Huffington Post, a very well-respected Political Blog, they featured this video of a real TV Commercial showing Jack Nicholson, in many different movie characters ( including The 1989 Batman Movie JOKER ), saying different things that relate to his approval of Hillary Clinton for President. At first I thought it was a joke or a fan-made trailer but it's the real deal. It's airing in certain cities & is kinda surreal.
OK, I know I'm a major bat-nerd now when I get really excited about being placed on THE DARK KNIGHT Batman Movie Viral Website, ha ha! Warner Bros has created a page called "I BELIEVE IN HARVEY DENT" that is the base for their HARVEY DENT For DISTRICT ATTORNEY Political Campaign. It's a cool site that looks real & it allows people to get involved in different ways. One way is they have some really great PDF pictures that you can download & then take to a local printer to get bumper stickers or campaign posters printed, the graphics are nice! So, I had a "HARVEY DENT FOR GOTHAM CITY" banner made & put it on the back of my work truck. Plus, awhile back I found some LETTER vinyl stickers & put "BAT-BLOG.COM" on my back tailgate. Everywhere I drive or park I advertise the Bat-Blog, ha ha! OK, so I took a picture of the back of my truck & submitted it. It got accepted & is now on the page. The funny thing is that the "Bat-Blog.Com Propaganda"also appears in the photo! If any other readers have some great ideas to advertise the Bat-Blog then please let me know ( You guys might mention this site in a message board you belong to or post a bulletin at your MySpace page, hint, hint ). One last thing, in the picture down below are some of the Political Campaign Buttons & Stickers being given away by the DENTMOBILE. If any of you live in a town where they are appearing please get me some of these! I live in Oklahoma City & they are NOT even coming close to my area ( yeah, that sucks! ).
It looks like Warner Bros' latest viral marketing for The Dark Knight Batman movie will start on the west coast. The "Vote For Harvey Dent" Campaign Van will be in Los Angeles, CA on March 13th. Then Tucson, AZ on March 14th. Then Scottsdale, AZ on March 15th & so on. Here's a map ( click on the above image for a sharper photo ) & you can get the schedule by clicking on the HARVEY DENT banner down below. For the Bat-Blog readers who are anywhere near these places please please please be sure to get me some of the stuff they're giving away. ( I live in Oklahoma City & they are not coming anywhere near me...boo! ). I want some of the campaign buttons or whatever they have, thanks!
Batman, or I should say "Blind Batman", has recently appeared in a political ad campaign in Brussels for the country of Belgium. Basically they are asking for some diversity in their government. As an example they use a Black Superman, a Woman Incredible Hulk, & a Blind Batman. Here's a link if ya wanna check it out. It's a pretty cool looking Flash-website ...but I can't read it!!
