Anybody who's been reading the Bat-Blog for awhile knows that our very best friend in the whole wide world is a cool kid named Desmond! I mean, this little guy is crazy for the Caped Crusader! Here he is modeling his new BATMAN Hoodie-Jacket his Mom found at K-Mart. It is a Fisher-Price DC Super Friends Batman print with little bats all over. It's ONLY MADE in children sizes which makes his Dad very very jealous, ha ha! But I have to admit that I'm a little envious too...because that IS one cool Batman Jacket! But I'm happy for Desmond because I know he is a major Batman Fan. He loves to watch every Batman show there is, from the campy 1966 TV Series to the new "Brave and The Bold" Cartoon. That's AWESOME! Thanks to his parents for sending these wonderful pics. I loved seeing the little guy again & I know that some of my readers are parents too & will enjoy this news.
Some big fashion news right now is that Ecko Unltd. designed some new Batman ( The Dark Knight ), Joker ( Heath Ledger version ), Kiss ( Gene Simmons ), Jason ( Friday The 13th ), Jigsaw ( Saw Movie ) Zip-Up Hoodies with Masks. These just came out & they are truly Limited Edition so if ya want one you should do it quickly. My guess is that the one of The Joker will sell out first because it's the most interesting of the bunch. The deal about these hoodies is that you can have a regular hoodie ( that's open-faced, or you can zip it up all the way & it creates a mask to keep your face warm. Yesterday I received a nice e-mail from a very cool girl named Danica. She explained that she's still in High School & a total "Batman Fan". She said that she just started to collect Batmobile Cars & has about 20 so far. Her dog's name is Sadie ( I love that crazy dog! ). She sent these photos of a recent Batman Hoodie she got & also sent a picture of some of her Batman toys. This photo of the Batman Hero-Clix Figure with Corgi Batmobile Car was HUGE, ha ha! But, it's really a super-great image so I thought I would make a Batman Desktop Wallpaper out of it. The photo is kinda grainy & that gives it a "vintage look"...it makes a great background! Thank you Danica for sending the awesome pics, I appreciate that a lot. Keep collecting Batmobiles, have fun with Sadie, & keep wearing Batman T-Shirts. Why? Because Batman is COOL!
Every now & then I am contacted by companies that make Batman products & asked to do a review. I almost always say, "Yes!" ...but I also warn them that I'm gonna be totally honest about it & if it's a bad product I'll say so. I'm not a mean guy, I just try to have decent integrity. Especially about Batman stuff because I really care about the character. Anyway, I gotta say that the Batman T-shirt I received from WEAR YOUR BEER is even better than the photo on their online catalog. Now, nothing personal about their website design. It's actually put together really well & is very secure. Plus, the product photos are actually really good. They sent me the "Vintage-Style Batman Logo" T-shirt in the mail ( shown up above, 1st photo ). It arrived quickly & was packaged very well. Like I said earlier, the shirt looked a whole lot better in person. The silkscreen graphics are VERY nice quality & so is the shirt. It's NOT one of those cheap flimsy T-shirts like you might find at some retail stores. It's nice & thick, looks like it will last a long time. I was pretty pleased with it overall & actually it's now one of my favorites. Now about their website again. They carry a HUGE selection of many different characters & have about 20 Batman/Joker products. But, all the Batman-related merchandise they do have are really great! Just think of it this way, they cherry-picked the best stuff & didn't list a lot of crap, ha ha! They also have some pretty cool JOKER shirts, a neat Batman Hoodie, & a Batman Baseball Cap that I'd actually really like to have. Overall, I think this review went pretty well. In the Underground Fashion Worlds of Europe & Japan a lot of young designers are really attaching themselves to the iconic image of Batman. I think, to them, he is an American Icon who represents both adventure & heroism but also has a lot of campy kitsch appeal. Here's one small example. A design company named BAPE ( Bathing Ape ) will release a Batman Hoodie Sweater this year for their new collection. It's done in the classic "Black & Gray colors" of Batman with a Bat-Symbol logo on the chest. The hood even has "bat-ears". Like most of the designer stuff it's extremely cool but priced where poor people like me can't buy it, ha ha. The retail price is around $440.00 US Dollars. But, the sweater also comes with a FREE Designer Toy Action Figure of Batman so that takes a little sting off it. Besides Batman they have also done Superman, Wonder Woman, & The Flash.
