Here's a quick post to share a few photos sent in by 2 Bat-Blog Fans named John & Mike. They're both very creative people & have made some really cool Custom BATMAN Toys!
John's story goes like this:
For awhile he's been into finding old broken action figures & improving them. He said he has always wanted to do a Custom "Comic Action Penguin" & he recently found a broken one he could work on. Now, for people who don't know, "Comic Action" Figures were made around 1976 by MEGO & they practically have a cult following. One thing about them, that gives them a lot of charm, is that they were kinda cheesy, ha! But John gave his figure some new legs & custom paint job. The result is pretty impressive. 
Mike's story goes like this:
Mike is a Father of 2 kids who totally love Cartoon Network's BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD animated series. They love to play with the toys and action figures of the characters from the TV show. But the problem was, no matter how hard they looked, they could never find the "Robin" figure & really wanted one. So, their Dad made them the 2 shown here. The 1st photo shows how he made a Robin figure to go with the regular Batman Action Figure from the toy line by Mattel. The 2nd photo shows a custom "Robin" toy of an "Action League" mini-figure. So, 2 different toy lines are covered here. Plus, Mike did an amazing job on these & the kids totally love playing with them! Thanks to both Toy Custom Artists for sharing their work. We want to invite all other Bat-Blog Fans out there to do the same.
The Bat-Blog always tries to be on top of what brand-new pieces of Batman merchandise are out there. I mean, we're pretty serious Bat-Collectors & this site shares a lot of info on New Toys & Products. The 1st photo is something that's available right now. In fact, this photo was sent in by a friend who had just returned from Wal-Mart. It's a Special BATMAN VS JOKER 2-Pack Action Figure Set. It's made by Mattel from a toy line called "Action League". They're done in a squatty-cartoonish style, a lot like the Brave and the Bold figures. But they're not from the cartoon. They're more like characters from the DC Universe ( The Comic Books ). Speaking of "Cartoons", the next pic shows another 2-pack, this one for YOUNG JUSTICE. These figures are not out yet but will be released later. This set has Batman and Robin, as they look in the TV Show ( very cool! ). Now, the last photo is an item that's been out awhile. It's the DC Comics 75th Anniversary BATMAN KUBRICK Figures Set. I've reported on these before but felt they were worth mentioning again because this pic shows how they were packaged. Which, I didn't know about and really like. The custom "windows" for each figure inside is neat. Plus, the box that opens to display them is pretty cool! I also like that they have the official logo next to each character... nice! One last thing, if you're a Bat-Blog Reader who is also a Batman Toy Collector then please let us know what brand-new items you see out there in the retail stores. OK Kids, here's some really great photos to totally drool over, ha! While at the 2010 Comic Con the Mattel Toy Company gave a presentation of some upcoming toys they will release later this year & early 2011. This post is about their DC UNIVERSE CLASSICS Action Figures & we're mainly covering the Batman-related characters. As you can see they're gonna make some really great figures for this series. Just to be clear, what is shown here is "WAVE16". Wave 14 is shipping now & Wave 15 will come out in early fall. But back to Wave 16, look at what they have here! We got AZRAEL from the 1993 Knightfall storyline, the Villain BANE looking all buff & mean, The RIDDLER ( looking like he's from the Silver-Age, cool! ), & 2 different versions of Dick Grayson as ROBIN, The Boy Wonder! The Robin figures look the same to me except for the heads. One kind of looks like he's from the 1940's, while the other one reminds me of the 1970's Super Friends. Please tell me, which Robin do you like the best? Alright, now the very last photo is some of the mini-figures from the ACTION LEAGUE series. They're gonna have a ton of these of Superman, Green Lantern, etc...but here are 2 favorites, Batman & The Joker! I really like these, they're pretty cool!
Well, it looks like our good buddy BATMOBILLY has been pretty busy hitting the retail stores lately. I guess it's a good time to maybe find some cool stuff again! These photos were taken at Target & show a few neat new bat-items. The 1st photo is a BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD Batmobile Toy Car that Billy said was a Toys-R-Us Exclusive, but is now being sold at Target in different packaging, that's weird! But I totally love the design of this vehicle! ( Be sure to click on it for a larger version ). The next 2 photos are some more of those "value-priced" Imaginext Action Figures by Fisher Price ( Target Exclusives ). They are Mr. Freeze & The Penguin...cool! The last pic shows a nice new assortment of the B:TB&TB ACTION LEAGUE Mini-Figures ( I think they called them "Minis" ). It looks like they've done Batman ( Blue ), the Joker, Bat-Knight, The Demon Etrigan, Owlman, Blue Bowman, Batman ( Grey ), The Top, Sportsmaster, & Green Arrow. Hey Billy! You photographed the Demon Figure twice! ( Ha Ha! Just Kidding ). I gotta say that out of all of these mini-figs my total favorite has to be the Joker...he's awesome! Thank you Billy for taking the time to take these cool pics, I appreciate that. Our good friend "Batmobile Billy" sent us a photo from his iPhone recently of his trip to Toys-R-Us in Oklahoma City, OK. It looks like there are some new Mattel BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD Action League Figures on the shelves & if you go to Toys-R-Us they have an exclusive "Arch Rivals Battle Pack" with 6 special figures ( Be sure to click on the photo up above for a larger version & it's the package in the middle ). Now, these are the smaller-type action figures that I guess are made for very little kids. But, we adult bat-toy collectors really love these too because they're so gosh darn cute!
