New Hostess Cupcakes JUSTICE LEAGUE Promotion

I plan on hitting the Grocery Store later today because I just found out that the Hostess Cupcakes company has teamed-up with DC Comics to promote the JUSTICE LEAGUE! They are combining the best comic book heroes with their different food products like Cup Cakes, Twinkies, & so on... The characters include Superman, Flash, Green Lantern, & Batman! You can see the "Batman Box" up above, it's cool. Plus, they are also having a contest on their official website where you can win one million dollars!! Vintage Advertising: THE JOKER & Hostess Fruit Pies!

Oh Man, People just go totally crazy for Hostess Fruit Pies, ha ha! OK, does everybody remember these wonderful Vintage Ads that were inside comic books in the 1970's & 1980's? I know that when I was a little kid I used to really love them. The pies were great too. My favorite was Cherry & if they didn't have that then Apple would be an acceptable choice. Hostess Fruit Pies Advertising: Batman and The Corsair of Crime!

Anyone who read comic books in the 1970's or 1980's has got to remember all the Hostess Cupcake, Twinkies, & Fruit Pie ads starring some of their favorite Marvel & DC Superheroes. They ran these all the time & I totally loved them! First, it wasn't like a regular advertisement. They made it look like another page of the comic book to trick you into reading them. Second, they were always such fun because the hero would use Hostess Treats as a way to confuse the criminals. Apparently, if you throw packaged Fruit Pies at crooks or bank robbers their brains just totally short-circuit & they go nuts for the fruit filling! But, I mean, who can blame them? At the time they had Cherry, Apple, & Peach! My personal favorite was Cherry. As a little kid I used to completely love them & I would beg my Mom to buy some at the store, ha ha! HOLY CUPCAKES BATMAN! The PENGUIN Vintage Hostess Fruit Pies Comic Book Ads

Do you remember these really great Hostess Fruit Pie Ads from the older comic books of the 1970's and 80's?? The ones pictured here feature THE PENGUIN Batman Villain. They used to crack me up the way they "tricked you into reading the ad"...they usually had some decent artwork & a silly story, but at the end they always sales-pitched Hostess Snacks, funny! The weird thing was, as a little kid, I used to totally love these Hostess Fruit Pies ( cherry was the best, my #1 choice ). Batman & Robin Fight Crime With Hostess Fruit Pies!

I've reprinted a few of these vintage comic book ads featuring Hostess Fruit Pie/Cupcake products in the past & people really love 'em. They always crack me up! I like how they look just like a comic book page & they "trick you" into reading them. This is a very clever idea. I don't know why they still don't do them, they're great! You could see these in comic books from the 1970's to the late 80's & they made a ton of them. I love how the criminals, villains, or terrorists are really getting into their crime & then all of a sudden, once they see Hostess products, their brains go completely dead & they forget about doing crime! Vintage Comic Book Ad: THE JOKER Sells Hostess Fruit Pies

During the 1970's & 80's DC Comics used to have these advertisements for Hostess Twinkies, Cupcakes, & Fruit Pies that looked just like a comic book page. It was a very clever marketing campaign where different comic book characters would hock their products. Here's an example of one where The Joker does a sale pitch for Hostess Fruit Pies. Ok, Do you remember in the late 1970's & early 80's when you would see an ad for Hostess Cupcakes, Twinkies, or Fruit Pies in almost every DC Comic Book? Well, here's an example. I used to really love these because they were made-up to look like an actual comic book page & in some case they "tricked you" into reading them. The story was always the same.
