BATMAN Golden Age Artist SHELDON MOLDOFF Dead at 91

I have some very sad news to share this morning. The Golden Age Comic Book Artist Sheldon Moldoff died last Wednesday, he was 91. In 1940 he created Hawkman for DC Comics and became a major Cover Artist for many very iconic comic books. His work was always amazing! In the 1950's he became Bob Kane's "Ghost Artist" ( with Kane, of course, taking all the credit ). He drew "Batman" from 1953 to 1967. He was responsible for creating many very iconic characters like Bat-Mite, Ace The Bat-Hound, Batwoman, and the Original Bat-Girl ( Betty Kane ). He also co-created Clayface, Poison Ivy, Dr. Achilles Milo, and Mr. Freeze.



To say that he was extremely important in "Bat-History" is no exaggeration. During his life he became a Cult Hero among Cartoonists, Animators, & other Comic Book Artists. In later life he was seen at a lot of Comic Book Conventions where he loved to meet his Fans. The artwork shown here are some of the Comicon Sketches he did. He will be missed & his contributions to both BATMAN and the Comic Book Industry are unlimited. I'm personally very sad about his passing and wish to extent my deepest condolences to his Friends and Family, "Shelly" will be missed, deeply. R.I.P. Sheldon "Shelly" Moldoff.

ANIMATED BATMAN - Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday!

Every week at the Bat-Blog you can find some brand-new & totally unique Batman-Theme Wallpaper Backgrounds to brighten your desktop. This time I thought I would go with an "animated theme". But, instead of doing "Batman: The Animated Series", I thought I would make some with other cartoon variations of Batman as seen in animation. The 1st one shows Batman and Superman as they might look on "The Brave and The Bold" cartoon. Except this is artwork from the new comic book that will feature both characters together ( Yes, Superman is sponging-off Batman's fame, ha! ). The 2nd one is an image of "Ace, the Bat-Hound" from an actual older TV cartoon called "Krypto, The Superdog". To be honest, I really thought he should have had his own series.

BATMAN and ROBIN + The BAT-HOUND : Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday!

It's Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday again! This time I'm posting a cool Batman-related Wallpaper that was designed by our good friend Sean Hartter. He created this background featuring Batman's Best Friend, ACE - The Bat-Hound! I just got this as an e-mail tonight & was really surprised at the choice of this character. Plus, I thought that was extremely cool because it's so "left-field" & "outta nowhere". Thanks Sean, some more really awesome artwork, as usual! The 2nd Wallpaper is stolen from the Official DC Comics website & I thought I would post it because this brand-new Batman and Robin # 1 Comic Book comes out today. With artwork by Frank Quitely & written by Grant Morrison it promises to be pretty good. I know a lot of Bat-Fans are totally excited about it. So, be sure to hit your friendly neighborhood comic book shop today for this issue & later, let us know what YOU think about it.

Awesome BATMAN MEMORABILIA Collection Photo

A friend of ours over at MySpace, named Andrew, sent me this cool photo of his Batman Memorabilia Collection. I spent some time checking it out & there's some really neat stuff here. He's got that "Reese's Candy Header Card for The Dark Knight Store Display", The "Batman Fleece Throw Blanket", some Action Figures, the Batman Pez, & much much more. Oh yeah, is that a plush toy of "Ace, The Bathound"? I think so!! Thanks Andrew for sharing this photo. I love to see other people's collections, that's awesome!

Humor Photo: THE BAT-HOUND Rides The Mego Batmobile!

One of our friends at the Bat-Blog Message Board posted this funny picture the other day and it's so cute & adorable that I knew I had to post it here. His dog had recently had puppies so he took one of the pups & made this wonderful photo of him riding the Mego Batman Batmobile. I think he should name him "ACE, The Bathound", ha ha! Congrats on the new puppies dude! Oh man, this pic makes me want to have a dog so bad. I just can't have one where I live & it's kinda sad. But this picture really cheered me up when I saw it (thanks for posting it).

ACE THE BATHOUND ( Batman's Dog ) Online Video Game ...FUN!

A friend sent me this link to a very cool Free Flash Online Video Game ( No download needed, play right on screen ) that has Batman's dog ACE, THE BATHOUND.
