The aliens of Battle L.A. were nothing short of inspired and rivals H.R. Giger's bio-mechanical designs.
Battle: Los Angeles was not a great movie. Great idea, but not a great movie. Paul Gerrard, 35, was tasked with bringing the aliens to life and there was obviously a lot of thought involved. It shows in the art.
"I’d describe it as Black Hawk Down meets Independence Day." Paul said, "From the pitch through to pre and post production, I created concept art for spacecraft, weapons and the main alien creatures. The director initially discovered my work in an art book."
Beach invasion 01 Part of the initial pitch artwork depicting that first time we see the invading forces
Command Centre 01 The chosen design for the C & C
Command Centre 02 Earlier versions, less top heavy
General Alien 01 The final design of the General alien
General Alien 04 Steroid version
General Alien 03
Infantry Profile 04 Less biomech version, more twisted flesh and muscle
Infantry Soldier 01 Head / face designs
Hovercraft 01
Here's what the aliens look like on film. I have to say it was really hard to get a look at them in the movie.
