NEW BATMAN BACKGROUNDS - Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday!

OK Boys and Girls! It's Wednesday, so you know what that means... Wacky Wallpapers!! This 1st one is totally amazing! It's a beautiful retro-style image of BATMAN created by Graphic Artist Chris Franchi. Actually, it's the "top half" of a poster he's working on. The image is an homage to the work of 2 major Batman Comic Book Artists from the past, Carmine Infantino and Dick Sprang. I love the use of the benday dots & the very slightly off-register color. It looks like an enlarged photo of a comics page... COOL! The next Wallpaper is a detail shot of an original Animation Cel from the BATMAN BEYOND Animated Series. I've always loved this TV show & hope others will like this too. ( A Special Thanks goes out to Chris Franchi for sharing his artwork, it's great! )

THE SUPER FRIENDS Batman CARTOON ANIMATION MODEL SHEETS By Alex Toth!

I opened my email box recently & nearly cried! What made me almost cry? These extremely beautiful Batman animation drawings by Alex Toth, that's what! Our friend Scott sent these pictures of some real-life ANIMATION MODEL SHEETS that were created for Hanna Barbera Productions, Inc © 1973. They were made for THE SUPER FRIENDS TV Cartoon. "Model Sheets" are basically a blueprint for all the different Animation Artists to use as a guide. They help keep the artwork consistent & perfect ( In size, scale and color ). These show the Basic Batman Figure ( in costume ), The Batmobile Car, & The Batplane... or is it Bat-Plane? ha! Now, readers, you might check the Bat-Blog Archives ( located on the left-side of this page, near the middle ) because I have posted more of them in the past & they're always fun to see. Plus, I wanna thank Scott for sending these, they're beautiful! These really bring back a ton of wonderful memories of my childhood. I totally loved this TV show. OK, I'm crying again, all over my keyboard. I need a minute.

Batman The Animated Series Costume Model Sheet

While surfing the net the other day I came across this very interesting graphic somebody made that showed the evolution of the bat-costume from modern-day Batman TV cartoons. It starts with the Animated Series from 1992 & goes to present day with the new THE BATMAN version. I like that BATMAN BEYOND was also included, nice! I forgot to bookmark the page & now wish I knew so I could direct people there. If anyone knows please leave a comment, thanks.

HARLEY QUINN ANIMATION CEL from Batman: The Animated Series

A loyal Bat-Blog Reader named Duane sent us this awesome photo & here's what he had to say about it, "Hi. Here's an animation cel I bought from the Warner Bros Store in Columbus, Ohio back in the 90s. It's from the episode: Harlequinade." Thank you Duane, this is a very beautiful piece of ART! Is this in response to us asking people to please send a photo of an original WB animation cel if you have one? Either way, thanks! Harley Quinn is one of my favorite characters from that series. Actually ALL the characters in that show are my favorites, ha ha! That show was so amazing. I just saw an episode the other day & it isn't "dated" or anything. It still holds up today & will for a long time to come, it's that "timeless" & classic.

We're Looking For Photos of Animation Cels From Batman: The Animated Series

Our friend Mike wrote us & said, "Since it seems that many of us on The Bat-Blog Message Board are big fans of The Animated Series, I thought I would send in a picture of one of my favorite BTAS Collectibles. I purchased this piece a few years back just before The Warner Bros. Store closed in my area for good. I was sad the day the store closed, so I had to own a piece from their animation gallery to mark the occasion. I purchased this production cel of one of my favorite characters (besides Batman) - and my favorite design of the character - Catwoman! This cel is from the Episode "The Cat & The Claw: Part 2." If you own volume 1 of TBAS DVD, you will find the episode there. To me this version of Catwoman was, hands down, the best! The photo really doesn't do the cel justice as there is a bit of light reflection in the glass, but it's a beautiful cel with the painted background, and is set off with a nice triple matte, and black frame. Anyway, I wanted to share this with other "Bat-Bloggers," and put out the call for everyone to show us your cels, if you have collected any!" Cool! Thanks for the great story & cool photos Mike. I really love that show & seeing the animation cels are always a treat. The art direction on that show was the best & the cels are always beautiful pieces of art. We used to have a Warner Brother Store here where I live ( Oklahoma City ) & it closed down too, a very sad day. Anyway, I want to invite all other "Bat-Bloggers" who have a photo to share of their Batman Animation Cel to send it in.

2 Free BATMAN DESKTOP BACKGROUND Wallpapers

Yeah! It's Wednesday again so here's 2 very cool Batman Desktop Wallpapers! The 1st one is an image from an Original Animation Cel. I have a few in my personal collection & really love them but I don't have one of Batman. I have a Superman from the Superfriends Cartoon. I bought it when I was a little kid & went to my very 1st comic book convention. Back then people didn't really get greedy like they are today & I bought it for $2.00. Ha Ha, Seriously, 2 bucks!! I'm really stupid though, I should have bought them all! The other cels I have are original Jay Ward cels of Cap'n Crunch. They're from the classic TV Commercials for that cereal. They're mostly of the Cap'n Crunch Crew, Dave & Brumhilde. The next Batman Wallpaper is part of a graphic by Jim Lee. His art is always great. I couldn't decide which way Batman should face, to look good on the desktop, so I put both variations here & I'll let you decide! As always you can also use these in a MySpace Layout...Go Crazy!

Batman : The Animated Series SCARECROW Original Animation Art Cel with Drawing

Here's a really great pic I found the other day of an Original Animation Cel with Drawing of the Villian SCARECROW from Batman, The Animated Series. Check back often because we're gonna try to post many more articles about this great cartoon & will even try to feature the awesome Vintage Toys from that era!
